Although Galactus technically appeared in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, it was in the form of a planet-sized cosmic cloud that never uttered a word. With the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps on the 2025 movies schedule next month, we're finally getting a faithful adaptation of the Devourer of Worlds, who's being played by Ralph Ineson. Needless to say that Galactus will be a huge threat, figuratively and literally, in the upcoming Marvel movie, and I'm even more pumped to see the magnitude of this after reading teases about it from producer Grant Curtis and director Matt Shakman.
These teases were heard when CinemaBlend visited the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps last year. At this point, Ineson's casting as Galactus had been public knowledge for several months, but we had yet to see any kind of official peek at the antagonist who debuted in the pages of 1966's Fantastic Four #48. Starting off, here's what Grant Curtis had to say about what we can expect from Galactus when he comes to the movie's 1960s retrofuturistic Earth:
The most epic of the most epic that you could imagine? Because that's the global stakes we're dealing with. The universal stakes we're dealing with. And it's not a spoiler that Galactus … when Galactus's gaze comes across your planet, you're not in a good spot. And so I think that that's as big of a scope and skill you could ever ask a villain to bring with him or her. And that is what Galactus brings.

Fantastic Four's Director Confirms That Reed Richards' Lab Has Three Distinct Sections, And Tells Us What They're For (Plus Shoots Down One Rumor From The Comics)
In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Galactus and his herald, Julia Garner's Silver Surfer, arrive to the Fantastic Four's Earth after Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards inadvertently gets their attention in his attempt to 'stretch the bounds of space.' For those unaware, Galactus doesn't devour planets for sport; he needs to do so in order to survive. This is one of the most powerful entities in this MCU universe, if not the entire multiverse, so if he notices your planet, it'll take nothing short of a miracle to prevent him from fulfilling that task.
Of course, we know the Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday, but I still worry that their Earth could be destroyed by the time The Fantastic Four: First Steps is over. It won't be much longer until that question is answered, but until then, here's what director Matt Shakman had to say about this depiction of Galactus:
(He's) daunting to these characters, of course. And daunting to this world. Because he's larger than life in every possible way. He is 14 billion years old, and maybe a thousand feet tall, depending on a good day, . But, you know, he's a wonderful, classic Fantastic Four villain, and we wanted a chance to explore one of the greats – one of the great villains.
As someone who read the early Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Fantastic Four comics as a kid, I'm looking forward to finally seeing Galactus properly realized on the big screen. There was a time when I thought he could succeed Thanos as the MCU's overarching big bad, so it'll be interesting to see how Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm and Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm neutralize Galactus on their own, assuming that's even possible. Maybe they'll just have to make due with warding him away from Earth, similar to their first encounter with him in the comics.
In addition to Galactus and Silver Surfer, the titular stars of The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also clash with Mole Man, though it hasn't been officially confirmed who's playing him. See the superhero team in action starting July 25.

He can stand on his own and walk for a short distance, but the movement on his left arm still needs care. Rapper Leslie Jonathan 'Da L.E.S' Mampe is seeing life through a new lens and grateful after surviving a life-threatening stroke on his 39th birthday in July 2024. The stroke took one month of his life, during which he was hospitalised and could not move. 'I woke up a month later,' he says. It's almost a year now since he has been recovering, and he hopes this birthday this year will be different from last year and be filled with good news. 'I am so grateful to be alive to tell the tale,' Da L.E.S says. 'There are days when it becomes frustrating, but every day comes with a new challenge to overcome.' He has documented his recovery process and started a YouTube channel where he will be sharing his story and journey to recovery. 'The channel is to document what happened and just share with my supporters the process of recovery,' he adds. 'I feel good and I am happy to be here.' Currently in the US, getting the best medical care with family. He is also back in the studio, navigating his way into making music again, and plans to release soon. Afa Ah Loo, a Samoan-American Fashion Designer, Dies at 39

Among the millions of protesters at more than 2,100 'No Kings' rallies and marches around the U.S. on Saturday, June 14, were some 18,000 people, according to Salt Lake City police, who poured through that city's downtown. And absorbed somewhere within that crowd was a Samoan-American, Mormon fashion designer with an irrepressible laugh named Afa Ah Loo. Ah Loo's entrepreneurial career in fashion, producing custom bridal gowns and evening wear, had been on the rise since he appeared on 'Project Runway' in 2019. (He also worked at mattress maker Purple, designing bedding.) He had launched his eponymous brand a decade ago and, not long after, told the Samoa Observer that his dream was eventually to see a celebrity wear one of his creations on a red carpet. Last fall, Ah Loo outfitted actress Auliʻi Cravalho for the 'Moana 2' premiere, crafting an elegant cape of white, dovetail shells inspired by the feather cloaks worn by Hawaiian royalty. 'Afa surpassed what I had envisioned,' Cravalho told Vogue.

Helldivers 2 is the first PlayStation-published Xbox game

Arrowhead Game Studios' Helldivers 2 will make the jump to the Xbox Series X and S consoles on August 26th, costing $39.99. This is the first PlayStation-published title to launch on Xbox. The title will ship with cross play between all platforms. The cooperative PvE third-person shooter was an unexpected hit when it first launched simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC in early 2023. It soared in popularity on Steam, where it earned an 'overwhelmingly positive' rating, which flipped to 'overwhelmingly negative' when Sony introduced (then swiftly reversed) a decision to require a PSN login for PC players. Xbox's press release makes no mention of a PSN login, so it likely won't be required here. Helldivers 2 is a gem of a game that's high on hijinx. What initially seems like a serious sci-fi title often gives way to funny, emergent moments, thanks in part to its Strategem system, which requires you to input complex button combos while facing down swarms of enemies. There are a variety of missions you can take on against aliens, robots, and a newer Illuminate species. And, since it's a live-service title, the lore and the stakes are always evolving (and the developers often troll players). It's a fun world to be immersed in, even if you're just grinding the free battle pass for weapon upgrades. My former Polygon colleague Cass Marshall wrote some incredible Helldivers 2 coverage, which have the power to convince just about anyone that they were missing out on a good time. I mean, just look at these headlines below.
