Vijayawada: The city is gearing up to celebrate its cultural identity and heritage with the revival of 'Vijayawada Utsav'—a grand cultural carnival set to coincide with the upcoming Dasara festivities.
Designed to showcase the spiritual, cultural, scientific, and artistic richness of the region, the Utsav promises an immersive experience for thousands of devotees and tourists visiting during Dasara Navratri.
City MP Kesineni Sivanath stated, "Vijayawada is more than just a gateway to the Goddess Kanakadurga. It's a city with deep cultural and historical roots. 'Vijayawada Utsav' will celebrate that legacy.
We want every visitor to carry back memories of the city's spirit."
The carnival is expected to feature a series of entertainment and cultural events across key city landmarks such as Haritha Berm Park, Punnami Ghat, Bhavani Island, Pavitra Sangamam, and Tummalapalli Kalakshetram. Plans are underway to host traditional folk performances, water sports, food festivals, laser and drone shows, and other attractions designed to engage both families and youth.

Water sports activity at Krishna river is an added advantage. Special food courts will be arranged to introduce local cuisine to the tourists. Kondapalli handicrafts and Pedana Kalamkari clothes will be given special display at this fest," Kesineni further said.
Collector Dr G Lakshmisha said, "The Utsav will reflect the pride of our people. It's a celebration of our local traditions and creative energies. We're working to ensure the city is ready to welcome visitors with grandeur and grace."
Officials are also looking to revive the long-discontinued city exhibition as part of the festival, with a vision to reintroduce the industrial and agricultural heritage once showcased by the Exhibition Society.
The city's residents have welcomed the move, seeing the Utsav as a long-awaited return of civic pride and a major boost to cultural tourism.

Sara Arjun's 'Then and Now' pics from Salman Khan's 'Jai Ho'; Aishwarya Rai's 'Ponniyin Selvan2' go VIRAL amid controversy over casting with Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar

Sara Arjun is all the internet has been buzzing about, after her big reveal in the Dhurandhar movie first glimpse. Shortly after the clip released on the occasion of leading man Ranveer Singh 's birthday, a series of 'Then & Now' photos of the actress have taken over social media. While some fans have marvelled at the beauty's all-grown-up avatar, others have been igniting a heated debate over her 20-year age gap with co-star Ranveer. The film's newly released visuals have left fans stunned to see the former child star now paired opposite Bollywood's powerhouse Ranveer, who is twice her age. The photos that have gone viral feature the actress as a child in Salman Khan 's Jai Ho (2014) and later in Mani Ratnam 's Ponniyin Selvan 2 alongside Aishwarya Rai . However, reacting to her casting in Dhurandhar, many expressed their surprise and concern over the 20-year age gap between the beauty and Ranveer. One fan tweeted, '#SaraArjun played a school girl in #SalmanKhan's #JaiHo (2014). She is now romancing #RanveerSingh in #Dhurandhar.' Another added, '#DheivaThirumagal Fame Sara Arjun is the Pair of #RanveerSingh in his Upcoming Film #Dhurandhar.' 'Unless you watch it, you can't confirm if it's a romantic pairing… maybe it's intentional casting for a mission arc,' read the post. Directed by Aditya Dhar , Dhurandhar features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna , and Arjun Rampal, and is slated for a December 5, 2025 release.

Dakota Johnson wants to direct and create female-centric films; she desires to play a psychopath and an action role

Dakota Johnson , the 'Materialist' star, has an aim and a dream to achieve in Hollywood, and she is not wasting time. The 35-year-old wants to direct her own feature film, continue to tell female-centric stories through her production house, avoid 'toxic sets,' and measure the success of the film through viewer impact rather than box office. Additionally, she has a desire to play a psychopath in the film and an action role. Dakota Johnson wants to direct... In a press roundtable at the 59th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) in the Czech Republic, Johnson was asked whether she would be contributing beyond acting and producing in the film industry. She said, 'I think I will direct a feature, a very small one, hopefully soon. And it's really close to my heart and very close to TeaTime. We're making it with Vanessa Burghardt, who played my daughter in Cha Cha Real Smooth. She's an incredible autistic actress,' adding that she was always scared, but she feels protective and won't let anybody else direct the film with Burghadt. Real, Provocative, Complex When asked about what projects she wishes to do, Dakota highlighted that she would be focusing on female-centric visions that feel real, provocative, and complex. Dakota Johnson is not wasting time on toxic sets... Moreover, Dakota seemed firm on producing her films through her banner as she couldn't waste any more time on toxic sets. When producing her projects, she gets to handpick what and whom she wants on the film sets, creating a healthy environment.
