Abu Obaida marks one year since martyrdom of commander Mohammed al-Deif

Roya News10 hours ago
Abu Obaida, the military spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, commemorated the first anniversary of the passing of the great martyr and leader Mohammed al-Deif.
He highlighted al-Deif's pivotal role in leading the Aqsa flood operation, which inflicted the harshest blow in the history of 'the Zionist enemy', permanently shattering 'Israeli' deterrence.
Abu Obaida said that al-Deif's leadership united the energies of the Arab and Islamic nation, redirecting their focus towards Palestine and restoring the Palestinian cause to the forefront once again.
He described decades of jihad, pursuit, sacrifice, leadership, and creativity culminating in al-Deif's martyrdom, joining the ranks of the great martyrs of the Palestinian people and its leaders. Abu Obaida emphasized how the blood of al-Deif and his fellow commanders mingled with the blood of Palestinians and the wider Ummah, who sacrificed everything for Al-Aqsa and Palestine.
The spokesman also praised al-Deif for reviving the legacy of early Islamic companions and warriors such as Ali, Khalid, Al-Qa'qa', and Al-Muthanna.
He said al-Deif remained an inspiration for generations who never saw his image but took pride in the victories of his brigades, and that he will continue to be a beacon for freedom fighters worldwide.

Houthi ship attack releases 17k tons of ammonium nitrate into Red Sea: US Embassy

The United States on Sunday accused Yemen's Houthi group of deliberately sinking the commercial ship MV Rubymar (also known as Magic Seas), resulting in the release of 17,000 metric tons of ammonium nitrate into the Red Sea, an act Washington warns could severely disrupt marine life and trigger mass extinction across the food chain. In a statement posted on X, the US Embassy in Yemen called the Houthis' actions 'reckless,' warning the chemical spill could 'disrupt fish reproduction and cause mass extinction across the marine food chain.' هجمات الحوثيين المتهورة على السفن لا تعكس أي اهتمام بالأسر اليمنية والبيئة. #USAwithYemen — U.S. Embassy Yemen السفارة الأمريكية لدى اليمن (@USEmbassyYemen) July 13, 2025 'The Houthis deliberately sank the ship, ignoring the devastating consequences for Yemeni families, trade, and the fishing industry,' the embassy said. The group has not responded publicly to the allegations. The British Embassy in Yemen also condemned what it called 'unprovoked Houthi attacks' on two Liberian-flagged, Greek-operated cargo vessels, Magic Seas and MV Eternity C. The UK said both ships were sunk, with at least four crew members confirmed dead and others still missing. It called on the Houthis to immediately and unconditionally release all remaining crew of Eternity C. The Houthi group claimed responsibility for targeting and sinking both ships last week, alleging they were headed to 'Israeli' ports. Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi reaffirmed Thursday that his forces would continue blocking maritime traffic to and from 'Israeli' ports in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Aden, as long as the war on Gaza persists. The attacks are part of the Houthis' broader campaign to retaliate against 'Israel's' offensive in Gaza, targeting vessels linked to or heading toward 'Israel' in what they describe as support for Palestinians.

Witkoff to meet Qatari officials at World Cup final, expresses optimism on Gaza talks

Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, expressed optimism on Sunday regarding ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza. Speaking to reporters in Teterboro, New Jersey, Witkoff said he plans to meet with senior Qatari officials on the sidelines of the FIFA Club World Cup final, scheduled to take place later Sunday. His remarks were reported by Reuters. "I'm optimistic about where the discussions are heading," Witkoff said, without elaborating on details of the mediation efforts. The envoy's involvement comes as part of intensified US efforts to bring an end to the conflict amid rising international pressure. Earlier Sunday, the Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad reiterated that any ceasefire agreement must result in a full 'Israeli' withdrawal from Gaza, the reopening of border crossings, and the launch of reconstruction efforts in the war-torn enclave. In a joint statement, Hamas said a delegation led by Mohammad Darwish, head of the group's leadership council, met with Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah. The two sides discussed the latest Israeli responses to ceasefire proposals put forward by international mediators, and how best to respond to them. Both groups have insisted that an agreement must go beyond a temporary truce and address the broader political and humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

Netanyahu promises Smotrich Gaza war will resume after 60-day truce: Reports

'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly assured Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich that 'Israel' will resume its military campaign against Hamas in Gaza following a proposed 60-day ceasefire agreement currently being negotiated in Doha, according to a report by 'Israel's' Channel 12. During recent closed-door meetings, Netanyahu is said to have told Smotrich, 'After the truce, we will move the population in the Strip to the south and impose a siege on northern Gaza.' The remarks were cited by both Channel 12 and The Times of 'Israel', which reported that Smotrich had demanded guarantees the war would continue in full force once the ceasefire ends. Netanyahu reportedly presented a plan to separate Gaza's civilian population from Hamas by concentrating them in a southern corridor, framing it as a humanitarian necessity that would allow 'Israel' to continue military operations after the temporary pause.
