The party's Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the opinion expressed by Sungai Buloh Pas Chief Zaharuddin Muhammad does not reflect the party's position and runs counter to Pas's Constitution and principles.

In a statement on June 24, the MAF said the promotion ceremony was officiated by Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar on June 23 and witnessed by all service chiefs.
SHAH ALAM – Pas has distanced itself from remarks made by a local politician who questioned the appointment of Datuk Johny Lim Eng Seng as Lieutenant General of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), warning that disciplinary action may be taken.
The party's Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the opinion expressed by Sungai Buloh Pas Chief Zaharuddin Muhammad does not reflect the party's position and runs counter to Pas's Constitution and principles.
'Racial attitudes or racism in any form or colour have no place in Pas and they do not align with the national culture and aspirations of this country.
'The appointment of Lim as a Lieutenant General of the ATM is a historic event that should be celebrated by all Malaysians, not questioned or belittled merely because of his ethnic background," Takiyuddin said.
Zaharuddin had earlier drawn criticism after media reports revealed he questioned Lim's appointment solely due to his Chinese ethnicity.
Takiyuddin also stated that the achievements and progress of any Malaysian should be recognised and honoured, regardless of their background.
'The abilities, achievements, progress and success of any Malaysian in any field should be celebrated and not otherwise.
'Therefore, Pas will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any member who violates party discipline, including displaying insensitive behaviour that undermines national unity and causes disharmony and suspicion within society," he said.

It's a no-confidence vote by the rakyat, says Takiyuddin

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim should take heed of the turnout at today's rally and make the decision to resign. KUALA LUMPUR : PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has likened the turnout of nearly 20,000 people at the Turun Anwar rally today as a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Takiyuddin said Anwar should take heed of the turnout at today's rally and make the 'moral decision' to resign instead of waiting for a confidence motion to be brought against him in the Dewan Rakyat. He also dismissed tabling a confidence motion, saying the number of MPs who would vote against Anwar may not reflect the sentiments of Malaysians nor reflect the number of Malaysians who were at the rally today. 'That's why, to us, the real vote of no confidence is from the rakyat. That is what should be considered. When the prime minister sees this many people calling for his resignation, he should pay attention,' rather than wait for action to be taken against him in the Dewan Rakyat, Takiyuddin said when met after the rally ended. The rally at Dataran Merdeka, organised by PAS Youth, was aimed at pressing for Anwar to resign as prime minister. The youth wing claimed that more than 200,000 people took part, although police estimated that just 18,000 rally-goers were present. Anwar had previously dared his rivals to table a parliamentary motion, saying he had already asked Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul to give priority to the motion if it was tabled.

Bring me your concerns in Parliament, not just on streets, says Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he remains consistent in his belief in democracy and freedom of speech and criticism. PETALING JAYA : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reminded his political opponents to continue discussing and raising their concerns to him in Parliament, not only on the streets, following the Turun Anwar rally held today in the city centre. In a Facebook post this evening, he said he remains consistent as prime minister in his belief in democracy and freedom of speech and criticism. 'Criticism and differences of opinion should not be viewed through the lens of opposition, but should grow to become the national heartbeat of a mature, progressive and sovereign citizenry. 'We champion this principle at the Prime Minister's Question Time in Parliament, where MPs are free to raise their criticisms directly to me as prime minister. I call on everyone to urge your MPs to continue attending and actively participating in all parliamentary sessions, particularly PMQT,' he said. About 18,000 people took part in today's rally, according to police, although the rally organisers, PAS Youth, claimed a tally of over 200,000 participants. PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the turnout was a vote of no confidence against Anwar, and called on him to resign instead of waiting for a confidence motion against him in the Dewan Rakyat. Anwar also thanked the security and medical personnel from the police and fire department, as well as volunteers, for doing their duty at the rally. He wished the rally's participants safe travels back to their hometowns, and reminded them not to forget to return to visit Kuala Lumpur and its historical landmarks in the future. 'These landmarks around the city centre are now being restored at a large scale so we can improve our tourism, especially for Visit Malaysia Year 2026,' he said.
