TV & Film Picks: Head Over Heels, Law And The City, Wes Ander-thon
Head Over Heels (PG13)
Prime Video
Starring Cho Yi-hyun and Choo Young-woo, this 12-episode romcom offers a fresh spin on youth romance with its supernatural elements.
Cho plays Seong-a, a high school student by day and a powerful shaman by night. During one of he r consultations, she falls head over heels for handsome classmate Gyeong-u (Choo), who is doomed to die in 21 days. Seong-a sets out to save her first love by becoming his secret human talisman.

Rising K-actors Cho and Choo shine in their roles, and it helps that the duo make a cute couple, thanks to their good looks and magnetic chemistry.
The one gripe is that while Cho, 25, pulls off the adorable, plucky high-schooler look well, Choo, 26, looks too mature to be a 17-year-old.
Still, the story's unique blend of romance, horror and comedy, and strong supporting cast make this an easy watch.
Law And The City

K-drama star Lee Jong-suk returns to the small screen after a three-year absence in this slice-of-life drama about five lawyers.
The 12-episode series also stars Moon Ga-young of True Beauty (2020 to 2021) fame and Kang You-seok, who was recently seen in Resident Playlist (2025).
Lee is no stranger to playing a legal eagle, having done that in the hit shows While You Were Sleeping (2017) and Big Mouth (2022). Unlike the louder characters in those shows, his role in Law And The City is that of a competent but jaded lawyer.
The key element here is the lawyers meeting over meals, from lunches to dinners, as they try out the city's best restaurants and cafes while sharing their daily grind and woes.
One of them runs a restaurant blog called Lawyer's Table, so expect plenty of close-ups of their meals and delicious-looking food.

The Projector
Fantastic Mr Fox (2009) is one of the five films that will be screened at The Projector as part of its Wes Ander-thon showcase.

Rediscover some of acclaimed film-maker Wes Anderson's beloved works at The Projector at Cineleisure.
The five films include The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), which gave Anderson his first Oscar nomination for best screenplay and stars the late Gene Hackman; and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004), featuring Bill Murray as the titular oceanographer who wants to exact revenge on a shark that killed his partner.
The Darjeeling Limited (2007), starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman, is about three brothers who travel across India in an attempt to bond with one another.
Anderson's whimsical take on Roald Dahl's classic story Fantastic Mr Fox, featuring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep, gave the director his first best animated feature film Oscar nomination.
No Anderson showcase is complete without the Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), a colourful and quirky tale set in a popular European ski resort.

Three-Michelin-star Paris restaurant Arpege switches to plant-based dishes
Find out what's new on ST website and app. View of tables and the decor at Arpege, the three-Michelin-starred restaurant of French chef Alain Passard, which serves an exclusively plant-based menu, in Paris, France, July 23, 2025. REUTERS/Gonzalo Fuentes PARIS - French chef Alain Passard, known for his mastery of roasting techniques, has decided to drop almost all animal products from the menu at his three-Michelin-star restaurant, Arpege. The decision follows his earlier move to eliminate red meat from Arpege's dishes in the early 2000s. Passard's updated menu excludes meat, fish, and dairy, although honey sourced from the restaurant's own beehives will remain an exception. Passard said he was motivated by his passion for nature, adding that using seasonal vegetables would also reduce the restaurant's environmental impact. Passard, 68, rose to fame for his roasted dishes, including "poulet au foin", or chicken cooked in hay, but has since become a leader in Paris's growing vegetable-based dining scene. "Everything I was able to do with the animal will remain a wonderful memory," Passard told Reuters. "Today, I'm moving more towards a cuisine of emotion, a cuisine that I could describe as artistic. It's closer to painting and sewing... Today I'm a different chef." Arpege is the first restaurant with three Michelin stars in France to move to plant-based food, joining the ranks of Eleven Madison Park in New York, which made a similar transition under chef Daniel Humm. Explore Singapore through its stories at Straits Times exhibition
People visiting an interactive roving exhibition by The Straits Times at Westgate Mall on July 25. If you were editor of The Straits Times, what news would you put on the front page? Would it be the most gory crime story of the day that is sure to draw eyeballs, or a more sedate but high-brow business story that could affect many people's livelihoods? You can try your hand at making that decision – and more – at Heartbeats And Headlines: 180 Years Of Telling The Singapore Story . This is an interactive roving exhibition by ST, part of a series of events organised to celebrate the newspaper's 180th anniversary in 2025. ST published its first edition on July 15, 1845. Look out also for scenes of Singapore of yesteryear – places like Clarke Quay and the Padang that your parents and grandparents would have seen develop over the years – and compare these with how much the nation has changed since then. These images all come from the ST archives. Last but not least, 'time travel' with ST to any date between July 15, 1845 and the present. You can find out what made the front page on the day you were born, or on your wedding day. The exhibition traces ST's journey from a colonial newspaper to a national broadsheet, and its evolution into the multi-platform media outlet that it is today. It also takes visitors through various milestones, including war and occupation in 1942, the nation's dramatic exit from Malaysia in 1965, the very first MRT trains starting service in 1987, and the national football team's victory in the Malaysia Cup in 1994. Visitors can complete activities to receive limited-edition gifts like a tote bag or notebook – available only at this exhibition, while stocks last. The exhibition, which was at Jewel Changi Airport earlier in July, will be at Westgate from July 25 to Aug 3, before concluding its run at Raffles City Shopping Centre following an Aug 8 to 17 display. The exhibition sponsors are the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore Pools and Singtel.

Wax lyrical: Taylor Swift gets lucky 13 Madame Tussauds statues
Find out what's new on ST website and app. More than 40 artists worked for more than a year on the statues of Taylor Swift at Madame Tussauds. LONDON - American pop megastar Taylor Swift will be honoured with 13 waxworks of her at Madame Tussauds venues around the globe, the museum said on July 23. In honour of Swift's lucky number, 13 of the waxwork museum's 22 branches will each receive a statue of the Love Story (2008) and Blank Space (2014) singer, in what it called the 'most ambitious project' of its 250-year history. The statues were inspired by some of the 35-year-old songwriting sensation's looks from her record-shattering Eras Tour from 2023 to 2024. With 149 shows across the world over nearly two years, the tour raked in US$2 billion (S$2.6 billion), making it the most lucrative in music history to date. More than 40 artists worked for more than a year on the statues of Swift, one of the most acclaimed artistes of her generation with 14 Grammy Awards. 'This is the most ambitious project in Madame Tussauds' 250-year history, which only feels right to reflect the stratospheric status of Taylor Swift,' said Ms Danielle Cullen, the museum's senior figure stylist. British-based Swifties are well served, with one waxwork slated for London and another for the northern seaside resort town of Blackpool. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. The 13th statue, which will travel around the remaining museums, will begin its worldwide walkabout with a residency at Madame Tussauds Shanghai. AFP
