EXCLUSIVE: Wonderkid will join Liverpool first team in pre-season

Yahoo10-06-2025
20-year-old Armin Pecsi will be arriving from Puskas Akademia this summer and linking up with fellow Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai in the first team.
He's probably one of the club's most exciting young talents, and the only nominee Liverpool currently have in the top 100 rankings for the Golden Boy award.

It's expected that the Reds' new wonderkid will initially be playing for the club's U21 side as he adjusts to the demands of English football.
However, Anfield Watch understands that for the beginning of the pre-season, Pecsi will be joining the first team and he will be part of Slot's preparations.
This means he could get a chance to make his unofficial debut for the club, if the need arises to use more than two goalkeepers with Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
In pre-season, Liverpool often rotate goalkeepers, so this is a possibility.

Last summer, Slot used three goalkeepers during the preparations with third choice Vitezslav Jaros playing three games during pre-season, including 28 minutes against Sevilla, when Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher were both available.
It's expected Jaros is going to depart on loan with Ajax currently the frontrunners to sign him.
This will open up a space for Pecsi to claim the number three spot and thus potentially make his debut for the Reds' first team.
The club have high hopes for Pecsi and regard him as Slot's third choice keeper.
While, he will be playing mostly U21 football next season, which is a step down for somebody who has over 50 first team appearances under his belt, the expectations is that he will be training alongside Mamardashvili and Alisson, to learn the ropes and this is very much a step up.

As a third choice goalkeeper, he could even get a chance to make his debut for the Reds' first team in a rare circumstance if both Alisson and Mamardashvili are injured.
This occurred last season, too, with Jaros playing against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Brighton in the League Cup.
In the long-term, Liverpool envision Pecsi to be a first choice goalkeeper. That is why they have invested £1.5m on him, which makes him the second most expensive Hungarian goalkeeper behind Peter Gulacsi.

Prince William took Princess Charlotte to watch the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 Final in Basel, Switzerland, on July 27, 2025. Kensington Palace and Crystal Pix/Why It Matters William is patron of the Football Association, English soccer's governing body, and has a long history of supporting both the England men's and women's teams. However, he usually takes Prince George rather than Charlotte, who is a regular at the Wimbledon tennis championship. This appears to be the first time William has taken Charlotte and not George to a soccer match, marking a milestone in their relationship. What to Know The TikTok video was posted with the message: "Princess Charlotte cheering on the lionesses tonight for the euro women's finalll 🥺🫶🏻." The clip began by showing some of Charlotte's messages of support in past finals, including in a black-and-white polka dot dress for the 2022 final of the Euro, which England won against Germany. The second clip, in a white stripy t-shirt, is from her message of support ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup Final, which England lost to Spain. The edit then showed a series of photos from the Euro final on Sunday, which showed Charlotte put her head in her hands during a tense moment as well as some bonding moments with William. There are also pictures in the video of Charlotte meeting Princess Leonor, 19, and Infanta Sofia, 18, both of Spain. Elsewhere, Prince William posted a video that also showed him standing with his arm around Charlotte's shoulders as they watched the England team celebrating their win. This was the first time Charlotte traveled overseas to watch soccer and only her second live game, after she previously watched Aston Villa, William's favorite team, play Norwich in 2019. Liverpool 'to make formal offer' for Alexander Isak this week as £65.5m Luis Diaz transfer is agreed

Liverpool have agreed a deal that is expected to help fund a bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. The Reds have already bolstered their attack with the signing of Hugo Ekitike but remain interested in bringing Isak, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season, to the club this summer. Despite approaching Newcastle over signing of the Sweden international for around £120million, the reigning champions of England were quickly told that the striker was not for sale. However, the transfer saga took a stunning twist last week when Isak asked to leave Newcastle and was subsequently left out of the squad that travelled to Asia for the pre-season tour. Now, the Magpies are bracing themselves for a formal offer from Liverpool for Isak this week. According to reports, the Merseyside giants have been given the green light to launch a bid for the striker as Luis Diaz's exit is imminent. Liverpool have agreed to sell the Colombia international to Bayern Munich for a fee said to be in the region of £65.5m. The money from the sale is expected to fund a bid for Isak. While the message from the Newcastle hierarchy has been they want to keep their best players, if Liverpool's offer approaches £150m mark and Isak pushes to leave St James' Park then that stance could soften. Regardless of the outcome, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is well aware his side must strengthen after missing out on a number of key targets - including Ekitike. Speaking after the pre-season defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, he said: 'We're not deluded. We know we need to bring players in. 'We've known that for a long time. We did a lot of work (at the end of last season), we knew what we wanted. 'But it's been a challenging transfer window. Let's see what we can do.'
