Adams, 45, was in a polo scene with ex-EastEnder Danny on Wednesday for the second series of the Disney+ show, also starring David Tennant and Emily Atack.
Around 60 minutes later, two cop cars turned up.
He was driven away and spent two nights in a police cell before appearing in court on Friday accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
A source said: 'It was very dramatic.
"Everyone was in their costumes and Danny was filming this polo scene when an hour later police suddenly turned up to arrest one of the extras. It was shocking.'
Tipped off
The assault is alleged to have happened at a house in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Police were called to the address at 2am on May 31.
Cops wanted to question Adams, also a supporting actor on BBC's Casualty and Doctor Who, in connection with the incident.
It is understood Avon and Somerset Police were tipped off that the bricklayer turned TV extra was filming on the new series of the Jilly Cooper bonkbuster adaptation Rivals.
Officers swooped after the polo match scene — with Dyer in his role as lovable Freddie Jones and also featuring The Musketeers star Luca Pasqualino — had been shot in the grounds of Berkeley Castle, Gloucs.

Sources said Adams, who was in costume as a polo match spectator for the filming, looked shocked.
A pal said: 'He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing.
'He's a bricklayer by trade but he's been doing more and more TV work, he's been in loads of stuff.
'Whenever he's in the background of a show he gets all his family and friends to watch it.'
Adams was also an extra in House of the Dragon and The Forsyte Saga.
And he appeared in the 2022 movie Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, starring Ray Winstone — when he was photographed alongside the Emmy-winning actor.
He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing.
Adams' pal
Adams appeared at Bristol magistrates' court on Friday charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
He made no plea and was given conditional bail until he returns to the city's crown court on July 7.
Production company Happy Prince, which makes the drama Rivals, said: 'On the 4th June, the police visited the set regarding an unrelated matter involving a supporting artist.
'Production co-operated with the police. We do not have any further information as it is not connected to Rivals or to our production.'
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man was arrested at Berkeley Castle on June 4.
They said Adams, from Locking, Somerset, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Christine spoke out about her sexuality for the first time recently, revealing she has dated both sexes since she was a teen. The Sun revealed her fling with a leading soap actress earlier this month. Their encounter came in 2023, the year after Christine split from her ex-Top Gear host husband, Paddy, 51. The well-known actress, whom we are not naming, has previously been in relationships with men. Months after their marriage ended, Christine was pictured kissing singer Chelcee Grimes, 33. It was revealed how Christine got "incredibly close" to footballer Chelcee before splitting from Paddy. Yet the songwriter's recent fallout with pal Christine recently came to light, with the real reason for the pair's toxic spat revealed. The former couple have since disconnected on social media. Now, opening up in an interview with The Mail, Christine has revealed her ex Paddy's reaction to her dating woman. Christine McGuinness gives update on relationship with Paddy after soap star fling She said: "We spoke about this after we separated – what are we comfortable with, how much did we want to share – because neither of us wants to wake up and find the other on the front page of a newspaper. "But it's been three years now, I don't need to know what he's doing and he doesn't need to know about me. "It just stays outside the home." Christine then continued to explain that she would never bring a date back home. She shrieked: "No way! Even if I lived on my own it would be a long time before I took that step. "I was messaging an amazing woman last year, and it took three months before I agreed to meet her for a date. Christine has also said she would never use a dating app and meets people through friends, as her public profile is too high. Christine refuses to discuss Paddy's romantic life. The implication is they have both moved on and their private lives are none of each other's business. But could she see herself getting married again? "No,' she said. " I don't mean I'm traumatised by marriage; I was just so young then. I didn't understand how you're legally tied to someone if you're married. "I want to be in a committed relationship, but I want the freedom to walk away." Paddy and Christine first met through a mutual friend in 2007, when she was 19 and he was 33. In 2020, she was diagnosed with autism and ADHD after spending the majority of her life confused as to why she acted differently from everyone else growing up. Since then, the TV star has been raising awareness for it through interviews, television shows and public speaking. 7 Christine couldn't see herself getting married again Credit: Instagram 7 Christine wouldn't bring a date back home Credit: Instagram 7 Christine has said she feels she's too well known to use a dating app Credit: Instagram/mrscmcguinness

EastEnders' Natalie Cassidy 'bricking it' as she admits weakness ahead of new TV show
Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy, whose character Sonia Fowler left Walford in April, is among the contestants on the new series of Cooking with the Stars Former EastEnders cast member Natalie Cassidy has been "bricking it" over her latest TV project, which is scheduled to launch later this weekend. The actor has teased that she pushed herself out of her comfort zone for the experience. Natalie, 42, announced earlier that year that she would be leaving the BBC soap opera. Her character Sonia Fowler, who first appeared in 1993, then left Walford in scenes that aired back in April, with her seen embarking on a new life abroad with her two children and her sister Bianca Jackson. Following her departure, it was revealed that Natalie will appear on the new series of ITV 's Cooking with the Stars and she's spoken about feeling nervous ahead of the launch. It comes after Channel 4 breaks silence after Gogglebox couple suddenly dumped from show. Natalie, who has been mentored by professional chef Tony Singh for the show, said that she "loves" cooking at home. The actor however spoke to WhatToWatch recently about how the experience differed from that. She recalled having used vegetable stock instead of vegetable oil while practising at home. Natalie continued by telling the outlet: "Usually I'm cooking with a glass of wine with the radio on, leisurely doing a bit of washing and talking to the kids, but this is a completely different ball game." Natalie said: "You have a recipe and you don't have any time to think about it at all." Teasing over one of Sonia's job on EastEnders, she said: "This is not the cafe on Albert Square, I need to produce high-end grub and I'm bricking it!" She also shared that she signed up for the show to expand her culinary abilities, revealing that her "staples" include roast dinners and spaghetti. Natalie said they are "good basics" but wanted to learn more about herbs, spices and different cultures through the competition show. The former soap star said that she wanted to "impress" her two children in the kitchen. Natalie teased that she also hoped to learn where the chefs "go to eat," saying that she wants to get a list of restaurants and "hidden gems". Whilst speaking to the outlet, Natalie revealed her strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the competition element of Cooking with the Stars. The show sees celebrities go head-to-head in the kitchen before being judged. Natalie said that being "organised" is among her strengths. She shared her dislike for "lateness," adding that she's "very aware of time" which she hoped would prove beneficial on the show when it comes to timings over her cooking. She then admitted that her weakness is "the chopping side of things". Natalie told the outlet that loved ones will often offer to take over chopping items if next to her in the kitchen because the actor is an "Awkward Annie".

This morning, the Strictly star told his followers on Facebook Live: 'I haven't felt this level headed for years, having been in a bad place or a relationship that is not healthy for me. It's now calm.' An insider told the MailOnline: 'Wynne and Liz broke off their engagement a few weeks ago. 'The pressure of his new business ventures took its toll and they had a big fallout. 'Initially, there was a belief they would get back together when the ill-feeling died down, as they had split before and managed to patch things up. 'But with Wynne actively trying to date again and going public describing the relationship as 'not healthy', it's safe to say they've split from good this time.' Wynne started his own radio show following his BBC axing for making a crude remark on the Strictly Live Tour launch event. He was dropped from the tour and his BBC Wales radio show was canned. He is also opening his own restaurant and winebar - 'Welsh House by Wynne' in Carmarthen, West Wales. Wynne popped the question to Liz on holiday in Morocco in June of this year, after she loyally stood by him amid his BBC fallout. Joy for Wynne Evans as he gets engaged after months of hell following Strictly drama He told fans at the time: "Big news… I got engaged! "This weekend in Morocco, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz — and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked.) "She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are! "Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug." Liz, 50, who runs her own successful events company in Cardiff, met the star at one of her do's in Wales. He asked her out for a coffee the next day, and they were together for 18 months before he proposed.
