Car Deal of the Day: There's nothing controversial about the Ford Capri for £235 a month

Car Deal of the Day: There's nothing controversial about the Ford Capri for £235 a month

Auto Express05-05-2025
Excellent spec with free metallic paint
282bhp, 389-mile range
Just £234.08 a month
The revival of the Capri name might have proved controversial, but there's nothing to get hot-under-the-collar about with the price. We've spotted the electric coupe-SUV being offered for less than £235 a month right now.
Lease deals on the new Ford Capri just keep getting cheaper and cheaper, and this one, from Carparison via the Auto Express Find a Car service, is the cheapest we've seen. Advertisement - Article continues below
A reasonable £3,107.76 is required as an initial payment, followed by a monthly outlay of £234.08, for a total of 24 months. Mileage is capped at 5,000 a year, but this can be bumped up to 8,000 for an extra £21.20 a month should you need more flexibility.
This deal bags you a Capri Select. It's the lesser of the two specs available (an even cheaper Style is due soon) but it's still feature-packed.
Niceties include heated sports seats, a 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory and a massage function, a wireless charging pad, and a portrait-shaped 14.6-inch touchscreen. Plus, this deal also throws in metallic paint for free.
The interior itself is modern, without a hint of the retro design you might expect. The dashboard is carried over in its entirely from the Explorer electric SUV, so you can expect a quality feel and simple-to-use touchscreen. Despite that sloping roofline room in the back passenger space is generous, and there's a sizeable 572-litre boot.
Powering the Capri is a 282bhp electric motor that sends its juice to the rear wheels, and there's a 77kWh battery pack. It's a sprightly car with 0-62mph taking a very brisk 6.4 seconds, and the Capri has a more dynamic feel than the Volkswagen ID models it shares so much componentry with. Range, meanwhile, stands at a claimed 389 miles; in our testing that equates to around 250 in the winter and over 300 in the summer.
The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find A Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car dealers and leasing companies around the UK. Terms and conditions apply, while prices and offers are subject to change and limited availability. Former Scots taxi driver 'luckiest man in world' after £725k holiday home win in online comp

The 63-year-old was in disbelief when he discovered he won the online prize. A former Glasgow taxi driver has bagged a stunning brand-new £725,000 holiday home after winning a life-changing online competition. ‌ William Tombe, 63, was in disbelief when he discovered he won the prize from BOTB. The dad-of-two and grandad-of-two also won a £69,000 Audi RS6. ‌ However, William was involved in a serious car accident more than a decade ago, which left him unable to work or drive. He intends to give the car to his daughter – or may choose to take the cash alternative which he plans to put towards a family holiday. ‌ Speaking of his prize, William said: 'I'm the luckiest person in the world to be here – the only thing I've got to moan about is I can't drive anymore. 'I obviously dreamt of winning, but you think it's just a pipe dream. This is life-changing. 'The whole day was a blur, and I was running on adrenaline. I thought I had just won the car and when I was told I had won the house I nearly collapsed.' ‌ The stunning holiday home is a four-bedroom, Scandinavian-style detached property on the exclusive Silverlake Estate in Dorchester, near the Jurassic Coast. It comes fully furnished with £30,000 worth of designer interiors and offers access to a luxury spa, lakeside views, nature trails and even a boat store. ‌ The Audi RS6 is renowned for its roaring V8 engine, precision handling and luxurious interior – a dream car for any motoring enthusiast. William added: 'Travelling down to Dorset and back has been well worth it. I'm now planning a well-earned rest.' He also revealed he's had a bit of luck in previous competitions – having once won a holiday to the Isles of Scilly and an iPhone – but said nothing could compare to this win. ‌ Christian said: 'After everything William has been through, it was a real honour to deliver this incredible news to him. 'He was already speechless when we handed over the Audi RS6, but once we revealed the house, you could see how much it meant. Taking him on a plane to see it in person made the moment even more unforgettable. 'Whether William keeps the house and car or takes the cash, this prize will change his and his family's life.' home in a truly special place. It was amazing to see his face when he walked through the doors.' BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week, as well as offering lifestyle prizes. Founded in 1999, BOTB has given away £103m-worth of cars so far.

Fiat 600 Hybrid Icon joins range, offering more kit for your money

Fiat has added a new Icon trim level to the 600 Hybrid range in the UK, splitting the base car and top-spec La Prima models on price and standard equipment. The new variant will be available with 99bhp or 135bhp hybrid powertrain options, costing from £26,860 for the former and £27,860 for the latter. Both are £1,500 more than the base car, and on sale now. Standard equipment for the Icon includes 17-inch bi-tone alloy wheels, a two-tone white and black interior, front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, embedded navigation and keyless entry and start. There's also a wireless charging pad for mobile devices. Advertisement - Article continues below This builds on a decent level of standard equipment on the base 600 Hybrid, which comes with air-conditioning, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seven-inch digital driver's display, LED headlights and gearshift paddles for the automatic transmission. If you're in the market for the 600 Hybrid, or any of Fiat's electrified models, check out the Auto Express marketplace for some great deals. The two specifications of hybrid powertrain are based on the same technical package, which combines a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a small electric motor and 48V mild-hybrid system. Both options come with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and can deliver 57.8mpg on the WLTP combined cycle and 109g/km. Performance varies between the two, though, with the 99bhp variant claimed to take 10.9 seconds to reach 62mph, while the 135bhp option brings that figure down to 8.5 seconds. There's no word yet whether Fiat will also offer an Icon trim level for the all-electric 600e. For now it will soldier on with base RED and top-spec La Prima variants. Buy a car with Auto Express.
