Aberdeen have announced they have secured an £8million investment that will see their Cormack Park training complex given a major overhaul. Following the Dons AGM in December 2024, chairman Dave Cormack confirmed his plans to build a brand new indoor pitch located at the club's Westhill training base, and those intentions are now set to be given the go ahead after a cash injection from Cormack, director Tom Crotty and further investment. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The Scottish Cup winners will now undergo work on creating a 4G pitch that will be used by the Aberdeen senior teams, both men and women, the Dons academy teams and Aberdeen FC Community Trust programme. On the forthcoming plans, chief executive Alan Burrows said: 'This latest injection of funding, approved at our last Annual General Meeting, takes the total investment from Dave, Tom and their colleagues to over £25 million in the last few years. We're incredibly grateful to our investors for the new funds, which will provide a significant portion of the capital required for these improvements at Cormack Park and our stadium, while also being able to continue to invest in the squad and the football operation. In addition, we have recently been able to more than double the investment in our scouting and talent ID department across the continent. This is only possible with the support we get from our investors and our fans through AberDNA memberships.' Head coach Jimmy Thelin has already been active in the transfer window, agreeing deals for Nicolas Milanovic, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Kusini Yengi and Nick Suman, as he approaches the Scottish Premiership opener against Hearts at Tynecastle on August 4. However, with the Dons playing European football this term, Burrows has confirmed the club is planning for future additions, with Swedish teenager Elias Pihlstrom linked to Pittodrie in recent days. Liverpool ‘play Alexander Isak waiting game' for dream summer signing
Liverpool have already splashed the cash in the transfer market this summer and could potentially make Newcastle star Alexander Isak their latest big-money signing Liverpool are willing to bide their time to make a move for Newcastle sensation Alexander Isak. The Swedish forward has been identified as a potential signing for the Reds this summer as they aim to bolster their attack. Current striker Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move to Italian champions Napoli, which would leave a vacancy at Anfield. But a deal looked difficult given Newcastle were in no mood to sell, while they also put an eye-watering £150m asking price on Isak. But it appears that Liverpool actually have a plan in place to potentially seal a late deal. The Liverpool Echo have reported that Merseyside chiefs are happy to just keep an eye on developments as it stands. They believe that Newcastle could potentially need funds to finance an imminent spree in the market. The Magpies are chasing lucrative deals for James Trafford, Anthony Elanga and Joao Pedro - with a £100m+ deal for Isak going a long way in helping Newcastle afford those three deals. There is also the small matter of Newcastle's efforts to keep Isak at St James' Park. Previous reports have suggested that the Magpies were willing to make the striker the highest-paid player in the club's history and it is suggested that Liverpool would have no issue in matching his demands. So, it may be wise for Arne Slot 's side to actually bide their time to see how discussions go. Meanwhile, Liverpool could also have more freedom when it comes to PSR restrictions closer to the end of the window. Their mega money deals for Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong look set to go into last season's figures and given the Reds' relatively low spending in the seasons prior, they have a lot of headspace, meaning another huge fee could potentially be affordable. Speaking last season, Eddie Howe was unable to give any guarantees that his star forward would stay in the North East. He said: "I never make those guarantees about any player and it's not to do with Alex's future but I'd be foolish to sit here and do anything like that. Do you think Liverpool could sign Alexander Isak this summer? Share your thoughts in the comments below 'We want to keep our strongest players, I've said that ever since I've been here and sat in this seat. We have to try and keep our best players and bring in more good players to make us even stronger because the ambition of the club and everyone connected with the club is long-term success and that's the only way to get that." Meanwhile, Isak has also confirmed his stance on his future. He said: 'I don't know much, to be honest. From within the club and from our side there are absolutely no discussions. It's just full focus on playing for me. There's not much to say, really. I've commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times. 'It's been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I'm not thinking about the future. I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That's where my focus lies. 'There is no reason for me to think about anything else (other than Newcastle). I feel incredibly comfortable at Newcastle. The only focus I have is on playing.'
