Could The Yankees and This Former Young Standout Be Having a Reunion?
The New York Yankees should be active around this year's trade deadline. They still have a lead within the division, but Tampa and Toronto are well within striking distance, not to mention that Detroit and Houston have a leg up in the race for the top playoff seed.

So, where should the Yankees be looking to upgrade?
MLB's Mark Feinsand had an interesting idea, floating the possibility of the Yankees reuniting with a former young standout.
Miguel Andújar seemed like he might play in the Bronx for a long time after 2018, when he was a finalist for the Rookie of the Year. He hit 27 home runs, 47 doubles, and had a near-300 batting average, which will keep someone in the lineup despite a lackluster glove at third.
He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury early in May 2019, and his Yankees career never recovered.

Fast forward a few years and Andújar has had success with two small market teams. There, he was able to get the time he probably needed under less scrutiny and intensity.

With the not-Oakland A's, Andujar has almost reached that 50-game threshold this season and is hitting .296. He could give them plenty of at-bats after coming back from a recent oblique strain, which is not the most severe injury.
This would be a buy-low trade with the Yankees knowing what they are getting.
The Yankees do not make this trade expecting him to hit behind Aaron Judge and be one of the key contributors.
This is shipping off one or two lower-level minor leaguers for a guy who might be able to give you an RBI-double, or two, in the American League Championship Series.
The Yankees know the risks with Andujar. He's not great defensively, and he has injury risks. The cost of two lower-level prospects, however, may be worth the possibility of what he brings back.
