Yahoo29-05-2025
After a decade-long absence, EA Sports revived its "College Football" franchise last year to strong reviews. Following that success, fans were eager to see what the company would do for an encore.
They got their first glimpse of that Thursday, as EA Sports released the first official trailer for "College Football 26."
The trailer, which is set to "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, shows off gameplay and teases the return of the popular "Stadium Pulse" feature.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a few new enhancements in that trailer, but it's main purpose was to build hype for the game, which releases July 10 for Playstation 5 and XBox Series X|S.
Fans hoping to get a full breakdown of new updates in the features in "College Football 26" didn't have to wait long, however, as EA Sports released a list of improvements and additions coming to this year's version of the game.
Those enhancements include:
Over 2,700 new plays, thousands of new athletes and 300 real-world coaches
Ten new player archetypes and abilities when recruiting players
The ability to dynamically deal with the game's fatigue system without pausing play
New AI enhancements, including improved blocking and coverages
Revamped "Stadium Pulse" system with new features, including clock distortion and extreme screen shake
Over 160 new school chants and new visuals showing off more school traditions
It's the second time in three days EA Sports has revealed new information about the game. The company revealed its cover athletes Tuesday. Alabama wideout Ryan Williams and Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith will be featured on the standard edition of the game. The pair will also appear on the deluxe cover, but will be surrounded by a number of players, mascots, legends and coaches on that cover.
While "EA Sports College Football 26" will be released July 10, fans have the ability to play it earlier. If fans preorder the "MVP Bundle," which includes "College Football 26" and "Madden 26," they will receive access to "College Football 26" on July 7. The MVP Bundle is listed at $149.99 on both the Playstation and XBox stores.

Virginia Tech Football: 2025 Hokies Season Preview and Prediction

Virginia Tech Football: 2025 Hokies Season Preview and Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's now or never for coach Brent Pry, who enters Year 4 with a 16-21 record and failed to launch in 2024 despite a talented roster. Pressure is mounting to have a breakthrough at a program stuck in a decade and a half of mostly malaise. That'll be tough with a lineup that might have better depth in some spots but not nearly the star power of last year's squad. If the coordinator hires don't hit, it might mean another middling season with increased questions about Pry's job security. With a quarterback résumé that includes Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III at Baylor, there's hope Montgomery can get the most out of Kyron Drones, who suffered through an injury-plagued 2024, throwing for 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. Advertisement Bruising Bowling Green transfer Terion Stewart is expected to headline a rotating backfield. Ayden Greene, who had his first 100-yard effort in the Hokies' bowl game, has star potential in a wideout group that could be interesting if Donavon Greene (Wake Forest) stays healthy and Cameron Seldon (Tennessee) handles a position switch. Much rides on an overhauled offensive line that lost five starters and brought in Matt Moore as the third O-line coach in head coach Brent Pry's four years. Tomas Rimac, who came with Moore from West Virginia, anchors the group, but major strides are needed here. Hokies QB Kyron Drones | Stan Szeto-Imagn Images Previewing Virginia Tech's Defense for 2025 After three years, Pry pulled the plug on the Chris Marve experiment at defensive coordinator, hiring up-and-comer Sam Siefkes with hopes of bringing a fresh mindset. Siefkes employs all sorts of fronts and personnel, stressing an attacking approach and situational awareness. Advertisement The personnel is an odd mix of returners and transfers. The strength resides up front, where Kelvin Gilliam Jr. and Kemari Copeland hold down the interior and newcomers James Djonkam (Eastern Michigan) and Ben Bell (Texas State) bring edge pressure. Questions mount in the back seven. Linebacker has been a sore spot since Pry arrived, though Jaden Keller and Caleb Woodson, the leading returning tacklers, bring continuity. With four safety transfers and a young cornerback room, there's uncertainty aplenty in the secondary, though Tech has more depth than last year. Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry | Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Previewing Virginia Tech's Specialists for 2025 All-ACC punt returner Tucker Holloway is back from a right knee injury that cost him all of 2024, bringing a career 15.5-yard average. Kicker John Love went 16-for-18 on field goals last year. Veteran punter Peter Moore is gone, but hopes are high for Nick Veltsistas. Netflix just cancelled two new shows — and looks set to cancel a third

Not every Netflix show is created equal — some are, sadly, here for a good time, but not a long time. Case in point: Netflix just reportedly canceled two of the streaming service's most recent additions, "The Residence" and "Pulse" (h/t The Hollywood Reporter). This means that both shows will unfortunately be one-and-done series now that the streamer has opted not to renew either for a second season. Which is a shame. Led by Uzo Aduba as wildly eccentric detective Cordelia Cupp, "The Residence" is a "screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world's most famous mansion," per the show's official logline, with Aduba's character arriving on the scene to solve a murder that occurred during a state dinner for the Australian prime minister. Hailing from some successful stock — Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland, with Scandal's Paul William Davis as creator-slash-showrunner — the original plan for the show was for it to be an anthology, with Detective Cupp taking on a different case every season. It premiered to some success, too. "The Residence" spent four weeks in Netflix's global top 10, logging 177.4 million hours of viewing. Alas, it seems like all those hours weren't enough to save the murder-mystery series, which also starred Giancarlo Esposito, Molly Griggs, Ken Marino and Randall Park, among others. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Also cancelled after a single season is the Netflix medical procedural "Pulse," a "The Pitt"-esque drama that follows a group of emergency and surgical residents at Maguire Hospital in Miami, Florida as they navigate both medical crises and personal drama amid the aftermath of a sexual harassment claim. The cast includes Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Jessie T. Usher, Justina Machado and Jack Bannon. After it dropped on Netflix on April 3, the series spent four weeks in the streamer's global rankings, drawing 20.2 million views and 162.1 million total viewing hours. However, middling reviews from critics (the drama only has a 48% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critical consensus reads: "Pulse has its finger on the genre's zeitgeist but pales in comparison to its contemporaries." That tepid response might well have contributed to the show's cancellation. "The Residence" and "Pulse" might sadly soon be joined by a third Netflix cancellation: "No Good Deed." This black comedy came filled with a starry cast that included Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Lisa Kudrow, Dennis Leary, Ray Ramano and Luke Wilson. The darkly comic series follows three families vying to buy the same house. But it still hasn't yet been picked up for a second season by Netflix, despite being released back in December 2024. Reports now indicate that it might not return for a second season at all, and is on "indefinite hiatus."

Ohio State's biggest sleeper for repeat title revealed

A lot of players, both new and old, will determine whether or not the Ohio State Buckeyes can win a second straight title. They have a new quarterback, tons of new defensive players, and more. Names like Jeremiah Smith and Julian Sayin figure to be important, but there's one name that a college football insider believes might be a sleeper pick for the defending champs. ESPN analyst Jake Trotter named Carnell Tate the biggest sleeper for the Buckeyes as they attempt to repeat as champions. Tate could never really show out with Emeka Egbuka, a future first-round NFL draft selection, and Jeremiah Smith ahead of him on the depth chart. But with Egbuka gone and Smith likely drawing all the defensive attention now, there's space for a Tate brekout. Advertisement "Tate still played a key role for the Buckeyes, starting every game for the national champions," Trotter said. "In the playoff semifinals against Texas, he made the Longhorns pay for their coverages taking away Smith by hauling in a game-high seven passes for 87 yards... Tate is set to play an ever bigger role for the Buckeyes as a junior. He could easily surpass the 52 receptions and 733 receiving yards he had last season, and he should be a valuable wingman to Smith in yet another talented Ohio State receiving corps." When defenses focused entirely on Smith last year, like against Texas, Tate made them pay. This year, he can do that to help diversify the Buckeyes' offense and make life easier for Sayin. If he does, then he could be a crucial part of what should be another highly successful season in Columbus.
