36 flagship schemes to build Viksit Odisha by 2036
'A prosperous Odisha will be built by 2036. For this, 36 programmes have been prepared. Odisha will be made a $500 billion economy by its centenary,' the Chief Minister said.He said 36 top priority programmes have been identified to make a significant impact on key sectors by 2036. This is a strategic initiative termed as '36 for 36', which will accelerate the journey of growth of Odisha, Majhi added.
The Chief Minister said the programmes will be taken up with a 'whole of government' approach to realise the vision.Clear-cut programmes will be prepared and steps taken in 36 areas such as economy, industry, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, science and research, innovation, women empowerment, rural development, tribal welfare, Odia language, culture and promotion of Odia 'Asmita' (pride), he said. Steps will be taken to ensure all kinds of basic amenities reach the people in the lower stratum of society by 2036, he said.The government has taken an ambitious resolution to make Odisha a prosperous State by 2036. Besides, Odisha will also play an important role in achieving the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047, Majhi said.
He said the vision document is a roadmap for the dreams of 4.5 crore people of the State and a promise for future generations.
Stating that the preparation of the vision document has reached the final stage, Majhi said the draft is ready and the final document will be prepared after consulting with experts.'Our vision document is being prepared for the people and by the people. More than 3.2 lakh suggestions have been received from the citizens of Odisha and also Odias living abroad,' he said.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used to prepare the document, he said, adding that Odisha is the first State in India which is preparing the document by analysing the data and suggestions given by the public with the help of AI.The Chief Minister said MLAs and MPs have also been requested through letters to give their valuable feedback, given their long experience.
A State-level consultation workshop was held on Friday while three regional workshops will be held in Sambalpur, Balasore and Jeypore in the coming days, he said.

OMFED-NDDB pact to empower 15 lakh dairy farmers across Odisha: CM Mohan Charan Majhi
CUTTACK: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced a series of initiatives aimed at propelling the state's dairy sector into a new era of growth. Addressing a function organised at the OMFED dairy plant in Arilo under Cuttack's Barang block, the chief minister informed that the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (OMFED) have entered into an agreement to enhance milk production and empower over 15 lakh dairy farmers across the state. 'As per the pact, NDDB will provide around 4,000 cows of high-yielding Gir, Sahiwal and other cross-bred varieties to dairy farmers of Odisha. Along with this, a cow dung gas plant will also be set up in the state with the help of NDDB in the coming days to promote sustainability. The plant will generate fuel from cow dung providing both cooking gas and organic fertiliser, thus reinforcing Odisha's vision of a thriving Gaumata Economy,' Majhi said. 'OMFED is the backbone of Odisha's White Revolution and has become a driving force in increasing milk production while making the state's dairy farmers self-reliant. Through strategic partnerships and upgradation of infrastructure, the government aims to substantially increase milk production, from the current 72 lakh litres to 165 litres by 2036 and 274 lakh litres by 2047,' the CM informed.

In the wake of a student's death in Balasore after she accused a professor of sexual harassment, the Odisha government on Saturday announced a new initiative called Shaktishree, which aims to ensure a safe academic environment in colleges and universities in the state. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who announced the initiative, said it would be implemented in 16 state-run universities and 730 government and aided colleges. The announcement came at a time when the Majhi government has been under fire from various quarters over the death of a college student, who set herself on fire after her complaints alleging sexual harassment by a professor were ignored. The incident put a spotlight on the safety of women in the state and triggered nationwide outrage. Under the new initiative, every college and university will have an 'empowerment cell', which will be managed by women students. 'The cell will ensure training of female students in fields like self-defence, legal rights and mental health. It will also create awareness on various aspects of digital safety,' said Chief Minister Majhi. A dedicated mobile app will also be launched to help women students raise their complaints with internal complaint committees and connect to mental health experts in case of stress and anxiety. It will also have facilities like an SOS button in case of emergency. The state government has also decided to come up with a code of conduct for university and college professors. Professors will now have to take an online training module with focus on women's safety, gender equality and professional ethics, officials said. A campaign, called SAFE (Shaktishree Actions for Female Empowerment), will be launched in colleges, under which self-defence training will be organised twice a year. It will also include workshops on women's safety and rights. The Chief Minister said this move would boost the confidence of women students. State-run colleges and universities will now have to submit a campus safety report, highlighting the steps taken by authorities to ensure the safety of students. Under the Shaktishree initiative, the Chief Minister said an adequate number of CCTVs would also be installed in all colleges and universities, and that a control room would be set up for monitoring.

Govt to distribute 10k high-yielding cows to farmers: CM
1 2 3 Bhubaneswar: State govt will distribute 10,000 high-milk yielding cows to farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, announced chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday. An MoU was signed between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (Omfed) in Cuttack on Saturday, under which NDDB will facilitate the supply of 3,000 to 4,000 high-milk-yielding cows of Gir, Sahiwal and cross-bred varieties to dairy farmers in the state. Plans are also underway to set up a biogas plant with NDDB's support, aiming at sustainable energy and added income for livestock owners. Majhi launched milk powder packaging machines and handed over 22 new milk tankers to various dairy societies. Built at an investment of Rs 7.5 crore, the capacity of the tankers ranges from 2,000 to 15,000 litres. Additionally, three advanced milk packaging machines worth Rs 3.5 crore were inaugurated to increase processing capacity. "The initiatives will enhance milk procurement from farmers, with the state aiming to increase its current daily milk production of 72 lakh litres to 165 lakh litres by 2036 and 274 lakh litres by 2047," Majhi said. He further said that a contract has been signed between Omfed and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration for supplying around 30 metric tonnes of ghee for Mahaprasad and other rituals. Besides, the federation is now focusing on producing value-added dairy products such as paneer, butter, chhenapoda, ice cream, flavoured milk, mishti doi, peda and rabdi, among others. "These initiatives are also opening new income avenues for Odisha's youth," Majhi said. During the event, the CM interacted with dairy farmers, inquiring about their challenges and receiving feedback. The event was attended by minister for fisheries and animal resources development Gokulananda Mallik, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Omfed chairman Kishore Chandra Pradhani, NDDB dairy services director Debanand, Omfed director Vijay Amrut Kulange, among others.
