Genelia D'Souza Birthday: As Genelia D'Souza turns a year older on August 5 this year, it is only fitting to revisit some of her most commercially successful movies to commemorate her on her special day. Known for her ever-charming smile, graceful screen presence and stellar acting, Genelia has carved a unique space in both Hindi and South Indian cinema. While she continues to garner fans' love and applause for her role in Sitaare Zameen Par, here we take a look at some of her several box-office hits that made her a household name across regions. Genelia D'Souza's Commercially Successful Movies Bommarillu (2006): A breakthrough film in her career, Bommarillu saw Genelia playing the role of a free-spirited girl Hasini. The film was a massive success, thanks to her chemistry with Siddharth and her effortless performance. One of Telugu cinema's most beloved romantic dramas, the film earned Genelia several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008): This coming-of-age romantic comedy, produced by Aamir Khan, emerged as a classic cult over time. She played the lovable Aditi in the film alongside Imran Khan's Jai and their characters struck a chord with young audiences. The film was a box-office success and is still celebrated as one of the most relatable love stories of its time. Sachein (2005): Opposite Thalapathy Vijay, Genelia shone in this romantic drama that earned a lot of love from the audience. Though not a pan-India hit, the film performed well in the Tamil market, adding more to her already growing popularity in South Indian cinema. Force (2011): Genelia starred opposite John Abraham in this action-packed romantic drama. The film did well both commercially and critically, but the standout factor? It was the stunning chemistry between the lead pair. Her performance added emotional depth to an otherwise high-octane action narrative. Sitaare Zameen Par (2025): Sitaare Zameen Par, which was released earlier this year, marked a refreshing comeback for Genelia. Starring alongside Aamir Khan, the film resonated well with audiences and had a strong run at the box office. Here's Wishing Genelia D'Souza A Very Happy Birthday! IND vs ENG: Sunil Gavaskar flaunts his 'lucky jacket' after India level series 2-2 against England at The Oval

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar had more than just analysis to offer during the thrilling conclusion to the IND vs ENG Test series; he brought his now-famous 'lucky jacket' back into the spotlight. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As India clinched a dramatic six-run victory in the fifth and final Test at The Oval to draw the series 2-2, Gavaskar's exuberant reaction inside the commentary box went viral, adding a delightful personal touch to a historic moment. When Mohammed Siraj dismissed Gus Atkinson to wrap up England's innings at 367, sealing the Test match and levelling the series, the cameras caught Gavaskar proudly pointing to his white jacket, the same one he wore during India's iconic win at the Gabba in 2021. Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj press conference: India stars answer all questions 'Lucky jacket!' he exclaimed, his face lit up with joy. The moment, captured live, quickly took over social media as fans shared his excitement. Watch: Gavaskar had hinted at this earlier in the series. After Day 3, he told Shubman Gill: "Tomorrow, I am going to wear my lucky jacket which I wore in Australia, the white jacket for the Gabba Test. I have got it only for that. All the best, God bless you." Rain delayed play, pushing the final day into Monday, and sure enough, Gavaskar was ready in his signature white. As Siraj delivered a stunning five-wicket haul, the jacket's lucky charm seemed to work its magic again. "I kept this lucky jacket on this tour only for the series decider," Gavaskar later said during the post-match show. The match itself was a classic, with India defending 374 runs. Siraj (5/104) and Prasidh Krishna (4/126) rose to the occasion. Siraj finished the series with 23 wickets, the most across both teams. India's comeback from 1-2 down capped off a thrilling series and gave Gavaskar's jacket yet another legendary chapter.
