Sarah Michelle Gellar Says Children of Original ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Actors Auditioned for Reboot
Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that she saw some familiar names on the audition roster for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.
The actress who played Buffy Summers in the original series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, recently chatted with Us Weekly with her former Buffy co-star Alyson Hannigan, who portrayed Willow Rosenberg. During the interview, Hannigan confessed, 'I know somebody who auditioned for something on the show.'

However, Gellar also knew some people. 'I know somebody who was on the show whose child auditioned on the show,' she revealed. 'I know a few people from the show whose children came in.'
'It better not have been one of my kids,' Hannigan quipped in response.
Though the Wolf Pack star didn't reveal the names of those who auditioned, last week it was announced that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong has been cast in a lead role in Hulu's pilot for the reboot. The new show will also see Gellar reprise her role as Buffy Summers.
'From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,' Gellar said in a statement regarding Armstrong's casting. 'To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.'
Most details on Armstrong's role, as well as the show itself, are being kept under wraps. The original series, which also starred Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, James Marsters and Emma Caulfield Ford, followed Buffy Summers, destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, as she dealt with her life of fighting evil, with the help of her friends.
A premiere date for the reboot has yet to be revealed.

The Host (2006) More than a decade before Bong Joon-ho made Parasite and rocketed to international acclaim, The Host was proving that Bong knows exactly how to make great, genre-busting movies. The film follows a street vendor who works to rescue his daughter after she is kidnapped by a monster that emerges from the Han River after military waste was dropped into the river. Both an ecological thriller and something even stranger, The Host is a movie that is both focused on the one family's journey and on the broader system that might allow a creature like this to exist in the first place. You can watch The Host on Max. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Although this isn't the first Invasion of the Body Snatchers, it's almost undoubtedly the best. The film tells the story of a group of people in San Francisco who slowly begin to suspect that everyone around them is being replaced by mindless automatons. Although the movie's story began as a metaphor for communism, it still works even decades later. The movie's ending, one of the more unsettling in the history of movies, is just as tense as the rest of the affair, in which the group is slowly winnowed away as they fight to save their very souls from mindless autonomy. Annihilation (2018) Perhaps the strangest film on this list, Annihilation tells the story of a group of scientists who are recruited to investigate a mysterious biozone known as the Shimmer. As they venture into its depths, they discover the way it has transformed the biology of everything living there. The group learns more about why each of them decided to make such a perilous journey in the first place. The third act of Annihilation is hard to interpret on a purely plot level, but the movie works nonetheless because it has so carefully calibrated the emotional journeys of each of its central characters. You can watch Annihilation on Paramount Plus. No One Will Save You (2023) A more recent addition to this list, No One Will Save You follows a young woman living in isolation in a small town. When an alien invasion descends, she finds herself fighting for her own survival. The central gimmick of No One Will Save You is that the film is almost entirely wordless, which means that it relies heavily on the performance of Kaitlyn Dever, who is more than up to the task. As we learn more about the reasons she's living in isolation, we come to appreciate both the guilt she carries with her and why she ultimately forms something of a unique relationship with the alien invaders. Ready Or Not (2019) One of the great thrillers of the past 10 years, Ready or Not tells the story of a young woman who marries into a wealthy family, only to discover that they have a ritual in which they play a board game every time someone joins the family. As she finds herself fighting for her own life against a family determined to hunt her down, she begins to realize that marrying rich might not be all it's cracked up to be. Will There Be a 'The Waterfront' Season 2?
The Waterfront released its first eight-episode season on Netflix on June 19. The show is based on creator Kevin Williamson's actual family and his life growing up in North Carolina, and the dramatic story was a hit with viewers immediately. Fans are wondering if they'll get more of the Buckleys and their dynastic shenanigans. Here's what we know about a potential season 2 of The Waterfront so far. Warning: some spoilers for season 1 ahead. There has been no official order for a season 2 yet. The show just came out in June, which means that Netflix may still be assessing the success of the series. Williamson told The Hollywood Reporter a day after the show premiered that he 'went in there pitching three [seasons].' 'The good news is, with a family, I feel like we have such a great cast of actors that we could explore beyond three seasons,' he said. 'I went in there pitching three—that's [Netflix's] magic number.' Williamson added, 'In the back of my head, [I was thinking], 'Oh, this could go four [seasons]. It's only eight episodes.' I mean, three seasons is one season of network [television]. I could go five seasons if it's a success, but I'd be happy with three. Three would be a solid number.' In another interview with Screen Rant, Williamson said, 'I've just sort of figured out who these actors are in these roles, and I would love a chance to write for them, and lean into them, and I think the show can just go up. There's a whole second season that I have planned out, and a third season, quite frankly. I'm hoping I get the chance to tell those stories. I do think it's a fun show, and it's unlike anything I've ever done, and I just hope people enjoy it.' The Buckley family owns a North Carolina fishing empire on the edge of financial ruin. In season 1, one of the sons, Cane, starts smuggling drugs in the fishing boat, but slipping his toe into illegal activities soon has the whole family drowning as they're caught between two drug kingpins. The Parker family and local smuggler, Grady, already have a hand in the criminal market and they don't appreciate the Buckleys moving into their territory. The Buckleys and Parkers work to end Grady's operation, leading to a dramatic showdown where Bree Buckley and her son, Diller, end up on Grady's boat, held hostage to lure in big daddy Harlan Buckley. Bree gets shot and she and Diller narrowly escape, before Cane dispatches Grady and sends him overboard. Williamson told The Hollywood Reporter that Grady was 'definitely dead,' adding they were 'paving the way for an equally [evil] new villain next year.' 'The Parker family would become season 2's big conflict. We've only met Emmett and his father,' he continued. 'There are more Parker family members and they will prove to be equally as complicated as the Buckleys—and more dangerous than Grady could ever be.' Grady, played by Topher Grace, is no longer alive in The Waterfront universe, so he will probably not be returning. The Buckleys currently include Jake Weary, Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Danielle Campbell, Brady Hepner, and Melissa Benoist. Other recurring characters in season 1 included Rafael Silva, Terry Serpico, Humberly Gonzalez, Dave Annable, Matthew Davis, Gerardo Celasco, and Michael Gaston.
