Arsenal transfers: Bayern Munich give up on Leandro Trossard and eye team-mate instead
Bayern Munich could turn their attention to Gabriel Martinelli with the chances of a deal to bring his Arsenal team-mate, Leandro Trossard, to Germany now looking slim.
The German giants are among the clubs who have been linked with Trossard, 30, in recent weeks with the Belgium international now in the final year of his contract at The Emirates. But it has now emerged that such a move is unlikely, with Trossard said to be in the sights of Fenerbahce.
Bayern remain in the market for a new wide forward, though, and it has now been claimed another Arsenal player has emerged as a target in Martinelli.
The Athletic claim that the Brazil international, 24, is once again of interest to Bayern as his current club search for a new left winger.
Martinelli currently has two years remaining on his current deal and there have been suggestions that Arsenal may need to sanction a big-money sale to offset their own planned spending spree.
The Gunners are pursuing a £70million deal for Viktor Gyokeres with a £50m swoop for Noni Madueke also close to completion.
Those deals, plus a proposed swoop for Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera, would see their spending break the £200m barrier. And with Crystal Palace 's Eberechi Eze also of interest, outgoings are likely, even if Arsenal are unlikely to actually want to sell a player of Martinelli's calibre.
Bayern also hold an interest in Luis Diaz of Liverpool, who have already rejected a £58m bid from the German champions for their winger.
Said offer was both received and rebuffed on Tuesday, with Liverpool having no interest in selling Diaz. However, the Colombia international is understood to have made it clear that he would like to leave Anfield this summer.
Diaz was heavily linked with Barcelona earlier as well as Bayern earlier in the summer. They have since tried - and failed - in a bid to land Nico Williams from Athletic Club.
Bayern are short in the left wing position following the departure of Leroy Sane, who signed for Galatasaray earlier this summer.

Liverpool told to sign 'throwback' Arsenal transfer target to replace Luis Diaz
Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to sign one of Arsenal's transfer targets if they decide to cash in on Luis Diaz this summer. The Colombian has been the subject of interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer after lifting the Premier League title with Liverpool last season. The English club rebuffed an approach from Barca earlier in the summer and in recent days have turned down a £58.6million bid from Bayern. Liverpool are said to be in no hurry to sell Diaz this summer, who they value at €100m (£86.8m), but the 28-year-old winger is said to be keen for a new challenge. With two years still to run on his contract, this summer could prove the ideal time to cash in on Diaz, and former Reds striker Heskey believes a move could well be in Liverpool's interest. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. 'If Bayern Munich step up and are paying the right price, then I think it has to be considered,' he told 'Everyone is available if the price is right. 'I think it would be decent business if they could get a good offer in and move him on, but then the next thing to consider is who to get him in.' Liverpool have already spent heavily this summer, but would be expected to dip back into the market for a replacement to Diaz should the Colombian leave. And Heskey reckons the Merseyside club should consider a move for Anthony Gordon to provide a similar pace and dynamism to Diaz down the left flank. 'One player I like is Anthony Gordon at Newcastle, he'd be a great option,' Heskey added. 'He'd give you someone direct, who still understands how to take players on and beat them. 'He's a winger who gives you width and gets to the byline, who can entertain. 'We've lost that a bit and Anthony is a bit of a throwback to earlier times, but his dribbling and direct attacking gets fans off their seats.' More Trending Liverpool attempted to sign Gordon from Newcastle last summer but were unable to reach an agreement. The England international scored six goals and registered five assists in the Premier League last season and was among Arsenal's list of transfer targets this summer as they look for greater depth in wide attacking positions. The Gunners are already closing in on the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea to provide more depth on the flanks. Mikel Arteta's side have also been linked with Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who has also been attracting interest from Liverpool in recent days. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Starmer to host Merz in chancellor's first official visit to UK
Berlin agreed last year to make facilitating the smuggling of migrants to the UK a criminal offence in a move that will give law enforcements more powers to investigate the supply and storage of small boats to be used for Channel crossings. Mr Merz is expected to commit to adopting the law change by the end of the year. 'Chancellor Merz's commitment to make necessary changes to German law to disrupt the supply lines of the dangerous vessels which carry illegal migrants across the Channel is hugely welcome,' Sir Keir said. 'As the closest of allies, we will continue to work closely together to deliver on the priorities that Brits and Germans share.' The Prime Minister has been seeking to strengthen ties with EU countries, including to bring down small boat crossings, and last week secured a migrant return agreement with France. The UK and Germany, two of the biggest providers of support to Ukraine, signed a defence pact last year with the aim of closer co-operation in the face of a growing threat from Russia. During Mr Merz's visit, the leaders are expected to unveil an agreement to jointly produce defence exports such as Boxer armoured vehicles and Typhoon jets and commit to developing their deep precision strike missile in the next decade, with a range of more than 2,000 kilometres. The chancellor and Sir Keir will also sign a bilateral friendship and cooperation treaty that includes plans to set up a new UK-Germany Business Forum. Sir Keir said: 'The Treaty we will sign today, the first of its kind, will bring the UK and Germany closer than ever. It not only marks the progress we have already made and the history we share. 'It is the foundation on which we go further to tackle shared problems and invest in shared strengths.' A series of commercial investments are being announced to coincide with the visit, worth more than £200 million and will create more than 600 new jobs. These include defence tech company Stark setting up a production facility in Swindon, its first outside Germany, and conversational AI firm Cognigy investing £50 million and expanding its UK team from 13 to 150.
