Arsenal transfers: Bayern Munich give up on Leandro Trossard and eye team-mate instead

Arsenal have been extremely active in the summer transfer window but outgoings are also on the cards and Bayern Munich have now set their sights on a second Gunners star Bayern Munich could turn their attention to Gabriel Martinelli with the chances of a deal to bring his Arsenal team-mate, Leandro Trossard, to Germany now looking slim. ‌ The German giants are among the clubs who have been linked with Trossard, 30, in recent weeks with the Belgium international now in the final year of his contract at The Emirates. But it has now emerged that such a move is unlikely, with Trossard said to be in the sights of Fenerbahce. ‌ Bayern remain in the market for a new wide forward, though, and it has now been claimed another Arsenal player has emerged as a target in Martinelli. ‌ The Athletic claim that the Brazil international, 24, is once again of interest to Bayern as his current club search for a new left winger. Martinelli currently has two years remaining on his current deal and there have been suggestions that Arsenal may need to sanction a big-money sale to offset their own planned spending spree. The Gunners are pursuing a £70million deal for Viktor Gyokeres with a £50m swoop for Noni Madueke also close to completion. ‌ Those deals, plus a proposed swoop for Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera, would see their spending break the £200m barrier. And with Crystal Palace 's Eberechi Eze also of interest, outgoings are likely, even if Arsenal are unlikely to actually want to sell a player of Martinelli's calibre. Bayern also hold an interest in Luis Diaz of Liverpool, who have already rejected a £58m bid from the German champions for their winger. ‌ Said offer was both received and rebuffed on Tuesday, with Liverpool having no interest in selling Diaz. However, the Colombia international is understood to have made it clear that he would like to leave Anfield this summer. Diaz was heavily linked with Barcelona earlier as well as Bayern earlier in the summer. They have since tried - and failed - in a bid to land Nico Williams from Athletic Club. Bayern are short in the left wing position following the departure of Leroy Sane, who signed for Galatasaray earlier this summer.

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard responds to Bayern Munich transfer approach

Leandro Trossard is not interested in leaving Arsenal for Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports in Germany. The 30-year-old forward has racked up 28 goals and 23 assists since joining Arsenal from Brighton for a fee of just £27million two years ago. In that time, Trossard has proven an invaluable member of the Gunners' first-team squad, but the Belgian has struggled to nail down a regular starting role under Mikel Arteta and there is mounting speculation that he could soon be on the move. Al-Ittihad failed with an ambitious £29.4million bid to sign Trossard last summer and the Saudi Pro League remains a viable option for the attacker, who is out of contract at the Emirates in 2026, as well as Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce. Bayern Munich have also been credited with a strong interest and are understood to have identified the former Brighton man as one of their top targets should they prove unsuccessful in pursuit of a deal for Liverpool's Luis Diaz. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. According to Sky Deutschland, Trossard has received 'numerous enquiries' from the Bundesliga champions, but is 'not interested' in joining up with fellow countryman Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena. The report adds that there are no 'concrete negotiations' at this stage and Arsenal's hierarchy remain hopeful of extending Trossard's contract beyond next summer. Bayern would be expected to step up their interest in Trossard should Liverpool continue to play hardball for Diaz over the coming weeks. It's claimed Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, has been in constant dialogue with Diaz's camp and talks over personal terms are ongoing between the two parties. However, Liverpool are in no hurry to part with Diaz and have knocked back several proposals for Diaz, who has also been heavily linked with Barcelona this summer. The Merseyside giants would consider selling Diaz, though, should they receive a bid of between €70 and €80m (£61-69.5m) for the Colombia international. Trossard's path to regular minutes at Arsenal could be further blocked next term should the north Londoners finalise their move to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. It's believed the Gunners have agreed a deal with Chelsea worth in the region of £50m for Madueke and club bosses are determined to further strengthen their attack once the England international arrives through the doors. Sporting sensation Viktor Gyokeres remains at the top of Arteta's wishlist at centre-forward, while Eberechi Eze's potential availability is being eyed on the back of his best-ever season with Crystal Palace. Coincidentally, Bayern are also keeping close tabs on Eze's situation as a result of Leroy Sane's recent move to Galatasaray and Jamal Musiala's horrendous injury at the Club World Cup. Arsenal 'moaner' offered exit option but transfer depends on Liverpool decision

German giants Bayern Munich are considering a move for Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard, but only if their pursuit of Liverpool star Luis Diaz proves unsuccessful Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, who are keen to strengthen their forward line this summer. Leroy Sane, Mathys Tel and Thomas Muller have all left the club, while Jamal Musiala is set to miss the majority of next season after breaking his leg at the Club World Cup. Bayern were linked with a move for Nico Williams, but the Spain star has signed a new 10-year contract with Athletic Bilbao that includes a release clause worth around £75million. And it now appears as though a move for Trossard could be on the cards. ‌ Trossard is being lined up as a potential alternative to Liverpool star Luis Diaz, according to a report from Bild. Bayern, it's claimed have lodged a £45m offer for Diaz, but Liverpool do not want to sell and especially not at that price. ‌ Bayern are among a number of clubs weighing up a move for Trossard, with talks over a new deal at Arsenal having stalled as a result. Trossard recently appointed Dirk Hebel as his agent and it is noted that he has an existing relationship with Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl. Trossard has spent three seasons at Arsenal, scoring 28 goals and producing 23 assists in 124 appearances across all competitions, and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Belgian international. Speaking last year, Arteta hailed Trossard's competitive streak and "capacity to do something special" after jokingly branding him a "moaner". ‌ Arteta said: "Yeah, Leo is naturally a bit of a moaner but I like that because he's very competitive and you have training sessions, he's always busy with the referee's decision, because he wants to win. "That's what I love. He always wants to be the best and when he's not there, he's not happy. But that's what pushes him. That's where he comes in on the pitch, he can make an impact because he's got that drive, that anger which says: 'I'm gonna show you.' "I love that about him. He's a really good character. They all want to play. Always want to play. Leo has shown a lot more consistency in the last 12 months, he's deserved that. ‌ "He's had a lot of competition in his position. That's it. Raise the level. If he plays at that level then he will play like anyone else. He has the capacity to do something special in the final third. "He's played and with us he's played as a left winger, as an attacking midfielder, he's played as a nine and he's a player that I value a lot, we value a lot, because he's very versatile and very competitive and he's a massive goal threat for the team. Really happy with him." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Gyokeres failed to make a single Premier League appearance in three years at Brighton and then had two successful seasons at Coventry. It's one of the biggest leagues in Europe. I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it's something I'd like to do. It would be great revenge. Maybe [he'll return to the Premier League]. Fabrizio Romano Copy link Copied By Surprise Gyokeres transfer competition Arsenal could face competition for Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres from a surprise suitor during the summer transfer window. According to Fener will have the benefit of an extended transfer window compared to many other European leagues. The Turkish giants could pull the same manoeuvre rivals Galatasaray did a year ago with Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who found a way out late in the transfer market. Copy link Copied By Rodrygo transfer boost Arsenal have received a major boost in their bid to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo. According to Marca, Real are "looking for a new destination" for the versatile forward. The same source claims it is becoming more likely that the Brazil international will be leaving Madrid this summer. And the Gunners continue to monitor the 24-year-old this summer. Copy link Copied By Gyokeres' 'Plan B' Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres will consider a worst-case-scenario loan move should his dream Arsenal switch fall through. SunSport understand Gyokeres has been encouraged by recent negotiations despite Sporting sticking to their £68.9million evaluation. The Gunners remain locked in talks with the Portuguese champions, with SunSport revealing the North Londoners are currently £4.3m away from the asking price of £60.3m up front and £8.6m in add-ons following face-to-face meetings in Lisbon. Personal terms are already in place on a five-year contract, with the add-ons in the deal relating to goal and trophy bonuses. The Sweden international, alongside agent Hasan Cetinkaya, is quietly confident he will be an Arsenal player in the coming weeks, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to include him on their pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong from July 19 to August 2. But SunSport understand the 27-year-old has a "Plan B" should he not make the Emirates switch – waiting until the end of the summer window and going out on loan to a European club. Copy link Copied By Eberechi Eze EXCLUSIVE Arsenal are open to including a player in their offer for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. SunSport exclusively reported that Arsenal chief Andrea Berta had held talks with the player's representative as they look to beat Tottenham to his signature. Eze, who turned 27 last week, is open to the move and has been training to stay fit in anticipation, but Palace are determined to extract the full £68million from his release clause. While the player being considered as a makeweight in the deal is not known, SunSport understand he is an emerging star who's played a handful of games for the first team. Copy link Copied By Noni Madueke EXCLUSIVE In one of the most important transfer windows in Mikel Arteta's tenure, the pursuit of Chelsea's £55million-rated Noni Madueke has divided the Arsenal fanbase. So much so that since the news of the Gunners' formal approach, over 1,000 Arsenal supporters so far have signed a petition urging the club not to sign him. But the numbers show that there is method behind the supposed madness, with Arteta targeting a player who may well give his squad something they have been missing during three successive second-place Prem finishes. As well as a world class No.9 – with Viktor Gyokeres' arrival in the works – the Gunners have been in desperate need of competition in the wide areas alongside the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. It is why Raheem Sterling was brought in on a last-ditch Deadline Day loan last summer, and highlighted further during Saka's three month absence last term following hamstring surgery. Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Real Madrid's Rodrygo have been monitored during this window, only for negotiations to break down over the past few weeks, while Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze – with a £68m release clause – and Atalanta's Ademola Lookman remain ongoing targets. So, it begs the question: Why does Arteta want him? The answer appears to lie in the England international's bravery on the ball from wide positions, something Arsenal struggled with last year, especially on the left through Martinelli and Trossard. Having netted 91 Prem goals in 2023/24, they scored 22 fewer last term. The Brentford midfielder, 31, has completed his summer switch to the Gunners for £15million, including add-ons, on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. Among other areas, the midfield is one that boss Mikel Arteta was desperate to bolster following the free-agent departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho. Arteta has done just that – complimenting the £51m signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad with the arrival of experienced anchor Norgaard from the Bees. Not only does Norgaard provide guaranteed Prem quality, the 6ft1 Dane also adds height, power and aerial supremacy to a squad of physical giants who have dominated set-pieces in the top flight over the past few seasons. When Arteta signed 6ft2 Mikel Merino from Sociedad last summer for £31.6m, the Spaniard came with the reputation of a 'duel monster' – winning more duels than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. In his first game in charge in December 2019, more than half of Arteta's starting XI were under six feet tall. Now, with Norgaard, they could boast an XI with NINE players who are six feet or taller. SunSport understand the Gunners have begun conversations with their London rivals to discuss a potential fee for Madueke. The North Londoners have already agreed personal terms with the winger over a five-year deal. Reports elsewhere have suggested Arsenal and the Blues have a gap between their valuations of the England international, with the West Londoners wanting close to £55million for the 23-year-old. And it could see the North Londoners miss out on the Sweden international. The Gunners will pay the Bees an initial £10m, plus £5m in add-ons. The midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third.
