Amirudin dismisses speculation of Tengku Zafrul taking over as Selangor MB
He said that he recently had a friendly exchange with Tengku Zafrul before the latter departed for Mecca.
"He asked if I had any doa (prayers) to send with him. I told him, 'Pray that I remain in Selangor',' Amirudin recounted during the Karnival Ceria Selangor at Dataran Ilmu, Selayang.
Amirudin, who is also the Selangor PKR chairman, said the speculation was far-fetched due to the complexity of the processes involved within a short timeframe.
"In my view, it's a rather long and complicated story. I don't think that the route of Tengku Zafrul contesting for the Mentri Besar post is feasible because it would require a by-election," he said.
"We only have about two and a half years left in this term, so there's not much that can be reorganised within that time frame. We'll have to wait and see how things develop,' added Amirudin.
He added that there has been no discussion or instruction from party leadership regarding any move for him to transition to the federal level.
"I don't believe we'll be holding a by-election just to seek a new mandate and change the Mentri Besar in the final two years of the term," said Amirudin.
"We still have two years to go, and there are many other priorities that require our attention. Right now, our focus is on the upcoming Sabah state election and on strengthening the unity government," he added.

Umno must embrace digital shift to engage youth, says Zambry
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno must take charge of the digital narrative, expand its presence on new media platforms, and actively engage younger voters to maintain its relevance, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. He emphasised that politics has evolved into the digital age, where perceptions and sentiments are rapidly shaped through social media and online discourse. 'This new challenge demands that Umno adopts fresher, more flexible, and pragmatic approaches. We cannot remain confined to outdated methods,' Zambry stated in a Facebook post. The Barisan Nasional secretary-general and Higher Education Minister clarified that modernising strategies does not mean abandoning Umno's core principles but rather presenting its values in a more effective and inclusive manner. He also highlighted the importance of unity within the party, calling it the foundation of Umno's strength over its 79-year history. 'Internal divisions will only weaken the party's survival,' he cautioned. - Bernama

Umno part of govt, will question members who joined opposition rally
RAUB: Umno will investigate its members who participated in Saturday's opposition rally, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He said the party would not tolerate behaviour that undermines the Madani coalition government, of which Umno is a part. Allegations had surfaced that some Umno members took part in the Pas-led rally at Dataran Merdeka yesterday. Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan had earlier told Sinar Harian that the party would await a full report on the claims before taking any action. "I want to see who attended the rally. My team and I will question them. "What was their reason for attending? "Umno's leadership has a clear stance—we do not support such gatherings. The party is now part of the Madani government. "We must strengthen the unity government, not bring it down. Joining such a gathering is not a good move," Zahid told reporters after opening the Raub Umno division delegates' meeting at the Raub Silver Jubilee Hall today. Yesterday, some 18,000 people attended the rally, which ended peacefully. The event was organised to pressure the government over the rising cost of living and alleged institutional failures.
