UMNO man is furious Jho Low is still at large
UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi criticised Malaysian authorities for their delay in tracking and extraditing Jho Low, following reports that he is living luxuriously in Shanghai using a fake Australian passport with a Greek name. Puad said it is the responsibility of the police and of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Comission (MACC) to bring Jho Low back to face justice. He also criticised former IGP Abdul Hamid Bador for failing to fulfil his promise to bring Jho Low back by end-2019 and mocked his remarks about Jho Low's changed appearance. 'If it is true that he is in Shanghai, then it is the heavy responsibility of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the MACC to bring Jho Low back to face justice,' he said in a statement on Saturday. Abdul Hamid Bador Puad said, 'He even promised that Jho Low would be brought back before the end of December 2019. However, it was all just empty talk ('sembang kari') that ultimately embarrassed the country.' Additionally, Puad suggested that Najib's trial is unfair without key witnesses like Jho Low present. 'If that is the case, the charges should be dropped,' he added. Meanwhile, Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat has urged Putrajaya to offer a RM10 million reward for credible information leading to the capture of fugitive financier Jho Low. He argued that Jho Low's return is crucial for justice in the 1MDB case, similar to former prime minister Najib Razak being tried. Chua said the reward is a small amount compared to the RM29 billion already recovered from 1MDB assets and would show Malaysia's commitment to fighting corruption. UMNO general assembly postponed to November due to Sabah polls
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 UMNO General Assembly, initially set for August 20–23, has been postponed to November 26–29 to allow the party to focus on the upcoming Sabah State Election. The decision was made during the UMNO Supreme Council meeting held at Menara Dato' Onn, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed the postponement, stating that the move was necessary to ensure proper preparations for the Sabah polls. The Sabah State Legislative Assembly's term will automatically expire on November 11, triggering the 17th state election. The meeting, chaired by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was attended by Vice Presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, along with other Supreme Council members. In addition to the assembly's postponement, the Supreme Council agreed to conduct a mid-term review of the Malaysian Unity Government's performance. This includes assessing UMNO's contributions within the administration and government-linked agencies. Asyraf Wajdi also clarified that UMNO discourages member absorption from other Unity Government component parties to maintain harmony. The meeting further decided that the Supreme Council may review disciplinary appeals from members under Clause 20.12 of the UMNO Constitution. The party also extended gratitude to the Terengganu and Perak UMNO Liaison Bodies for aiding victims of the June 10 Gerik bus crash, which killed 15 Sultan Idris Education University students.

Comprehensive Strategy Needed To Attract Younger Generation To Join UMNO
BUTTERWORTH, June 29 (Bernama) -- A comprehensive strategy is needed to ensure UMNO remains relevant to young voters under 40, who will constitute the majority group in the upcoming General Election, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah. He said the initiative to engage with this group should not be the sole responsibility of UMNO Youth but instead, should be a collective effort involving the entire party machinery. 'This is a large group. They are critical thinkers and educated. If we don't craft the right strategy to engage them, we will continue to lose support.

UMNO to review motion on Hishammuddin's suspension revocation
BATU PAHAT: UMNO will consider a motion to revoke the suspension of former UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein's membership. UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it was the party leadership's tradition and practice to examine any motion submitted by UMNO divisions during their respective delegates' meetings. 'This is a motion brought by one of the 191 UMNO divisions nationwide. 'Like other divisions, the motion will be submitted to the UMNO headquarters to be studied and considered before any decision is made,' he told reporters after officiating the Batu Pahat UMNO Division Delegates' Meeting at Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim here today. Khaled, who is also Defence Minister, said UMNO had yet to receive an appeal from the former senior national leader, but stressed that the motion would still be reviewed and considered. 'For now, there is only a motion, and we will consider it. Whether the individual concerned (Hishammuddin) has submitted an appeal or not, I don't wish to comment further,' he said. Yesterday, the Sembrong UMNO Division passed a motion for the immediate and unconditional revocation of Hishammuddin's suspension. Sembrong UMNO Division chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Abdul Rashid said this was the second year in a row the motion had been proposed by the division, reflecting the majority of delegates' wishes to see Hishammuddin return to active party involvement. For the record, Hishammuddin was suspended from UMNO membership for six years, effective January 27, 2023. Meanwhile, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party was open to receiving and discussing the motion at the next UMNO Supreme Council meeting. 'UMNO is an open party, and we've received many appeals from party leaders that have been accepted by UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. In this matter, I will receive and consider any motions submitted,' he told reporters after officiating the Rompin UMNO Delegates' Meeting in Muadzam Shah, Pahang today. Asked about several MCA divisions that had submitted motions calling for the dissolution of Barisan Nasional (BN) during the party's annual general meeting, Asyraf urged component parties to remain patient and to make decisions that were more realistic and practical. 'All the component parties have incumbent seats, and we must ensure that we retain the 30 seats we already hold... If we aim to win more, we must negotiate with the top leadership to discuss this. UMNO is very open to discussions on the matter,' he added. Yesterday, the media reported that MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the party's top leadership would take into account grassroots feedback before deciding on the party's future direction. Commenting on the same issue in KUALA KANGSAR, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said the matter must be brought to the UMNO Supreme Council (MKT) meeting for discussion with other council members before any decision is made. 'Let the proposal go to the Supreme Council meeting, I will give my comment then,' he said when met at the Dialog@KPK programme with the Minister of Plantation and Commodities at the Indian Association Hall here today.
