A look at Nebraska's class of 2026 after the addition of top tight end Luke Sorensen
The Nebraska Cornhuskers' class of 2026 landed its sixth commitment on Friday evening. Tight end Luke Sorensen is the latest addition to the Husker football program.
Sorensen is one of two four-star prospects in the 2026 class, along with offensive lineman Hayden Ainsworth of Biloxi, MS. The four remaining prospects are all ranked as three-star commits.
The Huskers lost one of their four-star recruits earlier this week when Florida prep corner CJ Bronaugh decommitted. He would switch his commitment to the Florida Gators later in the week, in a move that was described as a desire to remain closer to home.
The class has only one defensive commit with in-state linebacker Jace Reynolds. Offensively, the most notable name in the class is quarterback Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of Nebraska starting quarterback Dylan Raiola.
The class of 2026 still has a long way to go before it is finished. It currently ranks 71st in the nation and 18th in the Big Ten, according to the latest analysis from On3.

Iowa basketball transfer Bennett Stirtz among early ESPN 2026 NBA draft mock
With the 2025 NBA Draft in the rearview mirror, it's never too early to look ahead to the 2026 draft and the potential that an Iowa Hawkeye is drafted. With new head coach Ben McCollum and a slew of new players, it looks like Hawkeye fans will be treated to an electric year at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. And according to ESPN NBA draft insiders Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo, Iowa fans may get to see a future NBA first-round pick this season. Givony and Woo released their early 2026 NBA mock draft on Friday and a new Hawk made his way onto the list: Bennett Stirtz. If drafted, he would become only the eighth Hawkeye since 2000 to hear his name called during the NBA Draft. Stirtz had begun trending upward in a real way with NBA scouts in March, where he played well in the NCAA tournament and drew first-round buzz. Considering the momentum he built, it was a surprise to see him completely forgo the predraft process this spring. Instead, Stirtz will follow Ben McCollum, his coach at Drake and Division II Northwest Missouri State before that, to Iowa, where he will have the keys to the offense and a platform to further prove himself in the Big Ten. He's a terrific playmaker who figures to be among the top guards in the country. - Woo, ESPN Stirtz's story has become very well known over the past few months, as he's followed McCollum from Northwest Missouri State to Drake and now to Iowa. Last season at Drake, Stirtz averaged 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game on his way to winning the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. He helped lead the Bulldogs to 31 wins and their first NCAA Tournament win since 1971. He joins an Iowa basketball roster that's a complete overhaul from the one that missed the NCAA Tournament last season, with only Cooper Koch and Jacob Koch returning. In a highly competitive Big Ten, Stirtz will look to help lead the Hawkeyes back to the NCAA Tournament and past the first weekend for the first time in over 25 years. And in doing so, he could establish himself as an NBA first-round talent. Which Gator lands on CBS Sports' list of most dynamic CFB players
What does it take to be labeled a "dynamic" player in college football? Dual-threat quarterbacks mix the pro-style pocket passing NFL scout love and the running ability that seems to be taking over the position at large, a chunk of skill position players are recruited as "athletes" while playing multiple positions and then there's Travis Hunter who played at an All-American level on both sides of the ball while at Colorado. All of these archetypes fit the Merriam-Webster definition of the word dynamic — "marked by usually continuous and productive activity or change" — but in sports, dynamism has a certain je ne sais quoi to it. As CBS Sports' Brad Crawford puts it, "the players I most remembered jumped off of the screen in the biggest moments of the biggest games." Crawford put together a list of college football's 25 most dynamic players of the past 25 years, and there's surprisingly just one Florida Gator on there. While Gators fans may be quick to jump to the most sacred name in all of Gainesville — Tim Tebow — it's not the golden boy who made the cut. Tebow helped popularize the running quarterback, and he did it in a bruising way that hasn't quite been replicated. But his passing lacked at times, and there's a better all-around choice for this list. Percy Harvin. Athlete. "The Gators did an expert job picking and choosing when to incorporate Harvin offensively," wrote Crawford, "whether that meant lining him up next to Tim Tebow in the backfield or breaking him out at receiver. Over this three-year stint in Gainesville, Harvin was instrumental in leading one of the nation's most explosive offenses, averaging 11.6 yards per touch with 32 touchdowns. His 9.2 yards per rushing attempt led the country in 2007, which ironically, was Tebow's Heisman year." Harvin was a video game character in real life. An offensive weapon that demanded the focus of multiple defenders, Florida and Tebow likely wouldn't have the same success without him on the field. His success carried over into the NFL, and he's the kind of name that comes up in water cooler talk, which is the kind of topic Crawford is looking to explore deeper.
