The tribute kicked off with former host Keshia Chanté introducing Ashanti—who made history as the first artist to have a video retired on the show. The R&B star performed a smooth medley of her early 2000s hits 'Happy' and 'Foolish,' drawing cheers from the crowd. Jim Jones followed with a high-energy rendition of his anthem 'Ballin',' setting the tone for Amerie's lively recreation of her '1 Thing' dance routine.
Keeping the momentum going, Terrence J hit the stage to introduce Keyshia Cole. The singer delivered an emotional performance of 'I Should Have Cheated,' which had the entire crowd singing along. Mya continued the nostalgic wave with her 2000 hit 'Case of the Ex,' paired with a routine reminiscent of her original video. Shortly after, hosts Julissa Bermudez and Big Tigger brought out Atlanta legend T.I., who fired up the audience with a medley of his hits 'Bring Em Out' and 'What You Know.'
Longtime co-host Free made a solo appearance, taking viewers back to 106 & Park's early years. She upped the excitement by reuniting all four members of B2K—Omarion, Lil Fizz, Raz B, and J-Boog—who performed their chart-topping hit 'Bump, Bump, Bump,' with Fizz handling Diddy's original verse.
Finally, Mr. 106 & Park himself, Bow Wow, closed out the tribute with a string of fan favorites including 'Take Ya Home' and 'Like You.' He then brought out longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri for a surprise finale performance of 'Fresh Azimiz.'
Capping off the tribute, Cam Newton and Ashley Nicole Moss announced 106 & Sports, a new BET series inspired by the original countdown show, set to debut this fall.

The eight-episode series, which debuted on June 26, 2025, provides an inside glimpse of their lives as a wedded couple and parents to their son, Kareem 'KK,' and as influential figures in the entertainment industry. The couple, who first met in 2003 and dated for a few years before parting ways in 2013, reunited in 2021. After crossing paths at an industry event, Nelly reached out to Ashanti, and they quickly rekindled their relationship. The duo married in 2023 and welcomed their son the following year. Reflecting on their reunion, Ashanti admits she never anticipated getting back together with Nelly, but now believes that what's meant to be will be. In We Belong Together, the couple shares their journey through parenthood and the challenges of balancing their personal and professional lives. Ashanti, a first-time mother, describes herself as protective of her son, ensuring his diet is organic and clean. Nelly, on the other hand, jokes that he doesn't worry as much about KK's well-being, bringing a lighter perspective to their parenting dynamic. Notably, the couple has chosen to keep their son's face private, both on social media and in the series. Nelly, who has previous reality TV experience with Nellyville, pitched the idea for the series himself. He wanted to share with fans how charismatic Ashanti is and provide a true representation of their lives together. Despite their hectic schedules, which include Nelly's recent song release and Ashanti's ongoing tour, they made time to film the show, balancing their family life and careers. Tyler Perry denies sexual assault claims in $260 million lawsuit filed by Oval actor Derek Dixon

Tyler Perry is facing a $260 million lawsuit filed by actor Derek Dixon, who appeared in 85 episodes of Perry's BET drama The Oval. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses the filmmaker of repeated sexual harassment, assault, and professional retaliation. Dixon claims Perry used his influence to promise career opportunities in exchange for compliance, ultimately exploiting his position of power. According to the complaint, Perry allegedly began sending inappropriate messages after first meeting Dixon in 2019 at a private event. Over the following years, Dixon alleges the advances escalated to sexual assault on multiple occasions, despite his clear objections. The lawsuit includes screenshots of messages and claims Perry later apologized and attempted to maintain control by offering Dixon a pay raise and promises to develop a pilot Dixon had written, titled Losing It. Dixon alleges Perry purchased the rights to the pilot with no intention of producing it, using it as leverage instead. In a statement issued to the press on Tuesday, Perry's attorney Matthew Boyd rejected the allegations, calling them 'fabricated' and accusing Dixon of orchestrating a scam. 'Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail,' Boyd stated. Dixon says he initially remained quiet due to fear of professional consequences, including his character being written off the show. He later moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles and filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2024. After receiving no resolution, he resigned from the series. Tyler Perry, best known for creating the Madea franchise and for his influential role in film and television production, has not personally commented on the lawsuit. The Associated Press noted it typically does not name individuals in sexual assault cases unless they come forward publicly, which Dixon has done.
