Gear up for Aug 29 march to Mumbai, Jarange to supporters
On Sunday, Jarange conducted a gathering with supporters from 123 villages located along the Godavari river in Jalna's Ankush Nagar. During the meeting, Jarange described the Maratha reservation as "amrut", urging the community to secure it without fail.
"The reservation is not a favour by anybody. It is our just right. Don't remain silent, don't be careless," he said.
During his speech, Jarange criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
"Fadnavis is responsible for the Marathas not getting caste validity documents for Kunbi certificates. He has asked authorities to deliberately find flaws in our certificates," he said.
Jarange revealed that senior govt officials told him about the CM's alleged involvement in instigating conflicts between the Maratha and OBC communities.
Addressing the appointment of NCP politician Chhagan Bhujbal as cabinet minister, Jarange said Fadnavis was utilising Bhujbal to create discord between Marathas and OBCs.

Meet creator of sculptures that reflect India's heritage
You cannot miss it if you are driving into the city or exiting it through Dahisar toll naka. The majestic 30-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj astride a horse, adjacent to the highway at Kashimira in Mira-Bhayandar, is a sculpture aficionado's delight. Looking east, the equestrian statue of the Maratha warrior king is not just impressive, it carries a significant meaning because of the location it is installed at. As Unesco declared 12 forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji World Heritage sites recently, the spotlight also falls on city-based sculptor Sunil Kashinath Deore, who created this beautiful statue in bronze. It has been drawing admiration from thousands of passersby every day since the then chief minister Eknath Shinde unveiled it in Sept 2024. "Shivaji Maharaj raided Surat twice (in 1664 and 1670) and damaged the reputation of the Mughals. A substantial number of people who enter Mumbai from Gujarat by road take this route and meet Shivaji Maharaj at one of the city's gates," says Deore, 52, who collaborated with Garnet, which was commissioned to create the statue. It took us almost a year to prepare the replica," says Deore, a gold medallist from the prestigious J J School of Art in sculpture studies. Having inscribed his name in history by virtue of creating the replica of the national emblem that sits atop the new Parliament building, Deore has bagged another important assignment: To create murals for different offices at the new central secretariat coming up near the iconic India Gate in New Delhi. "These murals to be installed at offices of the ministries will showcase India's rich cultural heritage," says the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-born sculptor, who has studios both in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Mumbai. Deore's realistic, experimental works have earned appreciation from his peers and contemporaries. Vivek Lad, who was Deore's senior at J J School of Art and taught there before retiring a couple of years ago, calls Deore's works "monumental". "I have seen him work for years and he experiments with various mediums," says Lad. The Buddha statue that he created a few years ago, says Deore, is awaiting CM Devendra Fadnavis's attention. "Fadnavis should gift it to Delhi on behalf of Maharashtra," suggests Rajendra Jadhav of Borderless Babasaheb, which works to popularise Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideas.

In a long post on X, she said, "The admission by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha that the Congress Party was not true and trustworthy in matters of political and economic hopes, aspirations, and getting reservation and constitutional rights for the people of the country's huge population of Other Backward Classes (OBC) is not a new thing, rather it seems more like selfish politics of saying what it does not mean." She said that Rahul Gandhi's statement was as well-known as the Congress party's sad and unfortunate attitude towards crores of exploited, deprived, and neglected SC/ST community of the country, due to which the people of these classes formed their own party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), so that they could uphold their self-respect and self-esteem. She also said that due to its attitude towards OBCs, Congress remained out of power in major states of the country, including UP. "After losing power, they have started remembering these classes and are shedding crocodile tears," she added. "In the current situation, BJP's NDA also seems to be adopting the same double-faced attitude towards these classes," she said.

Sapkal criticism Following the video going viral, the Congress accused the Mahayuti government of failing to maintain Maharashtra's industrial dominance, citing crumbling infrastructure, corruption and lawlessness. 'The IT industry that once flourished in Hinjewadi during Congress rule is now migrating to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar himself has admitted this,' said Harshvardhan Sapkal, president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. Mr. Sapkal questioned Mr. Pawar's dual role as Pune's Guardian Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. 'Was Ajit Pawar asleep while Pune declined? He must take responsibility and resign,' he demanded. Launching a sharp critique of the BJP-led alliance government, he said, 'Basic infrastructure is collapsing, and entrepreneurs are losing faith. As a result, not just existing businesses but even future investments are moving away – largely to Gujarat.' The Maharashtra Congress chief cited the ₹1.6-lakh-crore Vedanta-Foxconn project, which was lost to Gujarat, as an example of 'BJP's administrative failure'. 'If even the Deputy CM acknowledges the flight of industries, the government owes the public a clear explanation,' he said. Hinjewadi's decline In May 2024, the Hinjewadi Industries Association (HIA) had claimed that 37 IT companies moved out from the infotech park over the previous 10 years due to the deteriorating infrastructure and traffic congestion in the locality. A month later, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule said she would hold meetings with the infotech park companies and convince them to stay back. 'The kind of IT park expansion we see elsewhere, like Bengaluru, has not happened here. We are potentially losing business – companies are reluctant to send their employees to Hinjewadi despite the government's efforts. It will take time to regain their confidence,' said Pawanjit Mane, Maharashtra State president of the Forum for IT Employees (FITE).
