Several Congress leaders including Eklaspuram Anjaneyulu, Basavaraju, Maddileti, Devaraj, Mahender, Devender, Lakshmanna, and Narasimhulu participated in the event.

India will remain competitive: Scindia on US tariff impact on telecom equipment exports
New Delhi: Indian telecom equipment exports to the US will remain competitive even after imposition of additional tariffs, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday. According to official data, telecom equipment worth about Rs 85,000 crore have been produced under the PLI scheme, of which equipment worth Rs 16,000 crore have been exported to various countries. "We will remain competitive," Scindia said when asked about the impact of the proposed US tariff on telecom equipment export. He was speaking on the sidelines of an event organised by retailers' body CAIT on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the first cellular call in India. According to government and industry sources, Indian electronics industry has around two weeks' breather from the proposed tariffs due to the pending review of a key section that covers technologies under the ongoing bilateral negotiations. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced imposition of a 25 per cent tariff on all goods coming from India starting August 1, plus an unspecified penalty for buying military equipment and crude oil from Russia. "Section 232, which covers electronics and technology products, is expected to come up for review after two weeks. When the US had imposed basic 10 per cent duty, then also technology products were exempted due to pending review of Section 232. This is the position as of now. We don't know what will (happen) after two weeks," a government source said.

About Malegaon Blast Case Seventeen years after the Malegaon blast killed six people and injured more than 100, a special court in Mumbai on Thursday acquitted all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit, declaring a lack of 'reliable and cogent evidence." The court sated, 'Terrorism has no religion" and warned against convictions based on perception alone. Additionally, the court awarded compensation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act: Rs 2 lakh each to the six victims' families and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured 101 individuals. The father of the youngest victim, 10-year-old Farheen, decried the verdict as unacceptable and vowed to take the matter to the Supreme Court. The trial, initiated by the Maharashtra ATS in 2018 and later overseen by the NIA, involved testimony from 323 witnesses. Thirty-seven turned hostile during proceedings. Special Judge AK Lahoti flagged serious shortcomings in the prosecution's case, noting that suspicion alone could not serve as proof. PM Modi to inaugurate development projects worth Rs 2,200 crore in Varanasi on August 2
NEW DELHI: Without taking a break even on an off day amid the hectic ongoing Monsoon Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on 2 August to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a host of development projects worth a total of Rs 2,200 crore. On the sidelines of the main function, PM Modi will also address a public gathering, where he is expected to highlight his government's achievements and policies. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday, the projects span a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage. All of these initiatives aim to achieve 'holistic urban transformation, cultural rejuvenation, improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life in Varanasi.' In an effort to improve road connectivity in the city, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant infrastructure projects. 'The PM will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi road and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar road; and Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, to ease congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura Road,' the PMO said, adding that the PM will also lay the foundation stone for comprehensive road widening and strengthening across multiple rural and urban corridors. The PMO added, 'Strengthening the power infrastructure in the region, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of various works under the Smart Distribution Project and undergrounding of electrical infrastructure worth over ₹880 crore.'
