Navi Mumbai Airport set to begin operations in Sept

'About 95% of the construction work is complete. The airport will begin operations within the next two months,' Samant said, adding that initial services will commence with limited capacity. The second phase of the airport is expected to be rolled out a few months after the first becomes functional.
Samant was replying to a long-duration debate on investment in Maharashtra. He claimed that 87% of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the state government with companies have been realised, the highest rate in the country.
'In the last three years, the Maharashtra government signed MoUs worth ₹1.80 lakh crore, ₹7 lakh crore, and ₹15.72 lakh crore. Of the 46 companies with whom MoUs have been inked, 15 have already been allotted land, and land will be allocated to seven more in the coming days. Twenty others will be given plots as per their request, and four industrial units are set to begin operations shortly,' he said.
He further claimed Maharashtra has outpaced all other states in attracting foreign direct investment under the leadership of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
The minister also emphasised the government's focus on equitable industrial development across the state. 'Gadchiroli is emerging as a steel manufacturing hub with investments worth ₹1 lakh crore. Under the CM Employment Guarantee Scheme, more than 62,000 industrial units have been established—six times more than during the previous MVA government's tenure,' he said.
Samant also said Maharashtra is among the top three states in implementing the Centre's Vishwakarma scheme for artisans and skilled tradespeople.
On a separate note, responding to questions about the financial health of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Samant said the civic body's liabilities stood at ₹2.32 lakh crore and had risen by 22% over the past year. However, he dismissed claims that the increase was due to mismanagement.

Maharashtra govt. seeks land on JNU campus to build Shivaji statue

Maharashtra Minister for Industries and Marathi Language Uday Samant said on Wednesday that the State government has sought land from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to build a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj riding a horse on the campus. 'We have held preliminary talks with the Vice-Chancellor and she is positive about it. A statue of our most revered king in this renowned university will help spread the importance of his valour and Maratha history on a national platform, given the university's key position in the academic world. Once the land is allotted, the State government will construct the statue. There is in-principle approval for the State government's proposal,' Mr. Samant said. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State Cabinet Ministers will visit JNU on Thursday to inaugurate the Kusumagraj Special Centre for Marathi Language, Literature, and Culture, named after the celebrated poet and Jnanpith awardee. The centre will offer postgraduate and certificate programmes aimed at promoting multilingualism and cultural understanding. 'It will offer an MA in Marathi and certificate courses aligned with the National Education Policy, 2020 for non-Marathi speakers, such as those who speak Tamil. Notably, many students from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have opted for Tamil, and it's common to hear Tamil being spoken during our functions. This trend is encouraging as it promotes unity and sensitivity towards other languages across the country. The State government is emphasising Marathi's importance, especially since it has been recognised as a classical language by the Centre. It is a language known for its rich literary heritage,' JNU V-C Santishree Pandit had told reporters recently. Mr. Fadnavis will also lay the foundation stone for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Special Centre for Security and Strategic Studies, which will function under JNU's School of International Studies. The centre will focus on exploring indigenous strategic traditions based on the Maratha empire and aims to become a hub of military history, strategy, and future policy development rooted in India's past. ₹10 crore allocated The State government has allocated ₹10 crore each for both centres .The Marathi centre was announced in 2007 by then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Gautam Adani's BIG move, to spend Rs 960000000000 in…, what's business plan for next 5 years?

Adani Group's Airport Business Expansion: The Adani Group is aggressively expanding its airport business, with plans to invest nearly Rs 1 lakh crore over the next five years. The group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, operates seven airports in India, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to be added to this list by October this year. Investment Strategy For Next Five Years Jeet Adani, 27-year-old son of Gautam Adani and head of the group's airport business, told the Times of India that the company has laid out a five-year plan involving investments of Rs 95,000–96,000 crore across airport infrastructure and real estate development. 'The majority of this investment will go into the Navi Mumbai and Mumbai airports, as well as real estate developments in both locations,' Jeet Adani said. Adani Group New Terminals Plan Adani Group also has plans to build new terminals over the next four years in cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram, while the recently built terminal in Lucknow will be expanded. A new terminal in Guwahati is already ready and expected to become operational by October–November this year. Jeet Adani clarified that the group has no plans to expand abroad for now. 'We see tremendous opportunities within India and don't want to dilute our focus. At the end of the day, it's about our management bandwidth and where we want to deploy capital. India is poised for significant growth over the next 10–15 years,' he said. He also noted that 26 airports in India have already been identified for development under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Investment In Navi Mumbai Airport Adani Group has merged Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) project. Instead of launching with a 1 crore passenger annual capacity (CPA), it will now begin operations with a 2 crore CPA. The airport is being developed with an investment of Rs 19,000 crore, and work on Terminal 2 has already begun.
