But at the end of the day, it's about our management bandwidth and where do we want to keep our capital.""We believe India will see some serious growth in the next 10-15 years. There's so much growth opportunity here with 26 airports already identified for being developed PPP way. Our focus is on going deeper in India and establishing a broader presence here, rather than going abroad," he a peek into the group's plan for Navi Mumbai, Adani said phase I and II have been clubbed, and that the airport will open with an initial capacity of 2 crore passengers annually (CPA)."This has been built with a capex of Rs 19,000 crore. The sector has some real tailwinds."Explaining why he is so bullish on aviation, Adani affirmed that the group is "here just as an airport operator but are here to drive the entire ecosystem forward.""It is not a fight between airline and airport operators. Collectively, our aviation ecosystem has to get the traffic currently transiting between India and rest of the world through nearby hubs in the Gulf, Southeast Asia and even Europe (for North America market)," he said."Those places have a deep integration between airports and airlines, which as of now is not there in India. Fortunately as a group, we have fantastic relationship with IndiGo and the Tatas. We have spoken to both and have asked them to include us into their planning and be a part of our planning," he added.

He chaired the meeting to review the ongoing works of Shirdi airport and the Greenfield airport at Purandar in Pune district. Taking a detailed review of the expansion and renovation work of Shirdi Airport, Chief Minister Fadnavis said: "The work of a new air traffic control building, integrated cargo building and terminal building at the airport in Shirdi is proposed. Also, the procurement and structural design work required for the airport should be completed in the coming weeks." "Shirdi Airport is the nearest airport to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Airport. "As far as Purandar Airport is concerned, survey has been done. Therefore, the Pune District Collector should immediately start the necessary process to acquire the land required for this airport so that the work of the airport can start soon. After the opening of this airport, the air service network in Maharashtra will further expand," the Chief Minister said. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said: "The immediate action should be taken to ensure that the work on Purandar Airport starts soon. CM Fadnavis Inspects Navi Mumbai International Airport, Meeting Held To Review Progress Work
Last Updated: Chief Minister Fadnavis inspected Navi Mumbai Airport, reviewed progress, discussed radar relocation, and mentioned plans for Mumbai's third airport by 2026. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday visited the Navi Mumbai International Airport and inspected the airport. During this visit, a meeting was held with senior officials to review the detailed progress of the work. NBJHUI98 In a post on X, the CMO of Maharashtra said that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Ganesh Naik, MLA Mahesh Baldi, MLA Manda Mhatre, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. 🔸CM Devendra Fadnavis visited and inspected the Navi Mumbai International Airport and chaired a meeting with senior officials to review the detailed progress of the ongoing Eknath Shinde, Minister Ganesh Naik, MLA Mahesh Baldi, MLA Manda Mhatre and other dignitaries… — CMO Maharashtra (@CMOMaharashtra) July 12, 2025 The first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to be operational by September, Industries Minister Uday Samant informed the Legislative Assembly earlier, Hindustan Times reported. The Navi Mumbai airport's inauguration, initially slated for late August, has been slightly delayed and is now expected to take place in September. 'About 95% of the construction work is complete. The airport will begin operations within the next two months," Samant said, adding that initial services will commence with limited capacity. The second phase of the airport is expected to be rolled out a few months after the first becomes functional. Speaking at the Western Region Ministers' Conference on Civil Aviation, Fadnavis said the towers were hampering the redevelopment of residential buildings in north Mumbai. 'The land to shift the radar has been provided, as has the money. If it is required to be placed before the cabinet, then do so, and if it can be done at your level, then do it. If it is shifted, it will benefit 10 lakh middle-class people who will be able to carry out redevelopment, which is currently stuck on account of the radars. I appeal to your team to visit the two plots and select whichever is suitable," he said. Fadnavis raised the issue of constructing an offshore airport during the Vadhavan port groundbreaking ceremony in Palghar. 'An agency has been appointed to prepare the detailed project report, and it will be Mumbai's third airport. We want to begin work on it by 2026," he said. Fadnavis credited PM Narendra Modi for speeding up permissions for the Navi Mumbai airport, noting it's nearing completion and will play a key role in cargo handling, alongside Pune and Nagpur airports. view comments First Published: July 12, 2025, 16:00 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Navi Mumbai Airport set to begin operations in Sept
MUMBAI: The first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to be operational by September, Industries Minister Uday Samant informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday. While the original target for inauguration was the end of August, minor delays have pushed the launch to the following month. Mumbai, India. The airport will begin operations within the next two months,' Samant said, adding that initial services will commence with limited capacity. The second phase of the airport is expected to be rolled out a few months after the first becomes functional. Samant was replying to a long-duration debate on investment in Maharashtra. He claimed that 87% of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the state government with companies have been realised, the highest rate in the country. 'In the last three years, the Maharashtra government signed MoUs worth ₹1.80 lakh crore, ₹7 lakh crore, and ₹15.72 lakh crore. Of the 46 companies with whom MoUs have been inked, 15 have already been allotted land, and land will be allocated to seven more in the coming days. Twenty others will be given plots as per their request, and four industrial units are set to begin operations shortly,' he said. He further claimed Maharashtra has outpaced all other states in attracting foreign direct investment under the leadership of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde. The minister also emphasised the government's focus on equitable industrial development across the state. 'Gadchiroli is emerging as a steel manufacturing hub with investments worth ₹1 lakh crore. Under the CM Employment Guarantee Scheme, more than 62,000 industrial units have been established—six times more than during the previous MVA government's tenure,' he said. Samant also said Maharashtra is among the top three states in implementing the Centre's Vishwakarma scheme for artisans and skilled tradespeople. On a separate note, responding to questions about the financial health of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Samant said the civic body's liabilities stood at ₹2.32 lakh crore and had risen by 22% over the past year. However, he dismissed claims that the increase was due to mismanagement.
