Devotees witness Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra during 'Adhara Panna' ritual in Puri
The 'Adhara Panna' ritual involves the offering of a sacred drink made with milk, sugar, and other ingredients to the deities in uniquely designed earthen pots shaped like the Lord's mouth. This offering is made on the chariots and is considered exclusively for the deities. After the ritual, the pots are broken on the chariot itself.
Madhav Chandra Puja Panda explained the process, saying, 'After the daily rituals like Mangala Aarti, Snana, Gopal Vallabh Bhog, etc. and Madhyana Dhoopa and bhog ritual, the main ritual called 'Adhara Panna' will be performed in which milk, sugar and all such ingredients mixed will be offered to the Lord in three earthen pots that look like 'Adhara', meaning the Lord's face. After the ritual, these earthen pots are broken on the chariot itself because this prasad is only for the deities. Later, the Lord is given a bath before the evening rituals.'
He urged devotees to remain calm for darshan, adding, 'Although everyone is excited for Lord Jagannath's darshan, if the devotees remain patient, they will have very good darshan.'
Pooja, a devotee from Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, described her experience, saying, 'Lord Jagannath is looking very pretty just like a groom. Our Lord is very loving and adorable. Lord gives darshan only to those devotees whom he calls for darshan, so the devotees who are being called by the Lord are coming for darshan. The weather is also very pleasant. Lord has made all the arrangements for his devotees.'
Another devotee from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, said, 'We had darshan of Lord Jagannath and we come every year to participate in Rath Yatra and have darshan of Lord Jagannath. Whenever the weather is too hot, Lord Jagannath brings the rain and stops it when the devotees feel inconvenient. Lord is very caring. The Rath Yatra will continue for four more days till Purnima, so everyone should come and visit Jagannath Puri.'
BJP MP Sambit Patra also spoke about the event and the significance of the yatra, saying, 'Lord goes to his aunt's house from the temple premises and then Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra go back to the temple during Bahuda Yatra, that was held yesterday. Today, people from Odisha and other parts of the country are coming to have darshan of the Lord and even those outside the country who believe in the Lord are coming to Puri in lakhs. The arrangements for this are being made under the leadership of the Chief Minister.' (ANI)

Lakhs witness grand consecration event at Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swamy Temple
Tuticorin: Lakhs of devotees gathered in Tiruchendur to witness the consecration (Kumbabishekam) of the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, which was performed early on Monday morning, after a gap of 16 years. Elaborate religious ceremonies and tight security arrangements were in place to manage the large turnout of devotees. The rituals began well before dawn around 2am. The ceremony was conducted between 6.15am and 650 am. The holy water was poured over the rajagopuram, shanmugha vimanam, and other temple towers by priests at 6.22am. The water was drawn from the yagasalai and carried in more than 700 silver-plated sacred pots, following a sequence of vedic procedures. The main ceremonies were conducted in a specially constructed 8,000sqft yagasalai, where 71 homa kundams were set up. Of these, 49 were dedicated to Lord Shanmugar, while others were assigned to Jayanthinathar, Natarajar, Perumal, and several parivara deities. Tamil Thirumurai verses were recited during the rituals instead of Sanskrit mantras. Several structural and infrastructure improvements were completed in preparation for the kumbabishekam. Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) minister P K Sekar Babu and fisheries and animal husbandry minister Anitha R Radhakrishnan participated in the final stages of the ritual, including the ceremonial flag waving that signalled the conclusion of the purnahuti (fire ritual). Former Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan was also present, along with senior officials from the HR&CE epartment and other govt departments. Religious heads from mutts including Sringeri and Kanchi also attended the event and offered prayers. Following the conclusion of the consecration rituals, 20 drone sprayers flew over the seashore area, showering devotees with holy water as part of the final blessing ceremony. Each drone carried 10 litres of sanctified water and completed three rounds of spraying. A total of 6,000 police personnel were deployed, while 550 fire and rescue personnel were stationed in and around the temple with 20 fire tenders. Two State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams remained on standby. The coastal zone was closely monitored, and local fishermen were engaged to assist with any potential emergencies along the shoreline. First-aid booths and mobile medical units were set up at key points, especially along the beach where devotees were allowed to gather. To facilitate transportation, three temporary bus terminals were created on approach roads from Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Nagercoil. Parking facilities were arranged at 18 designated areas, accommodating more than 20,000 buses and 10,000 private vehicles.

Haridwar strengthens Ganga cleanliness with advanced sewage treatment
Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], July 7 (ANI): Haridwar, one of the holiest cities in India and a key site of the Kumbh Mela, is making major strides in preserving the purity of the river Ganga through enhanced sewage treatment infrastructure under the Namami Gange Mission. Working towards the goal of a clean and rejuvenated Ganga, the city now hosts two state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with a combined capacity of 82 million litres per day (MLD). These include a 68 MLD STP at Jagjeetpur and a 14 MLD STP in the Sarai area. With these additions, Haridwar's total sewage treatment capacity now stands at 145 MLD, operating at peak efficiency. The Jagjeetpur STP, based on Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, is the largest in Uttarakhand and holds the distinction of being India's first STP under the Hybrid Annuity Model. It is also the country's first 'Pink STP', with 50 per cent of its staff comprising women, promoting gender inclusivity in environmental management. 'Earlier, all domestic waste used to flow directly into the Ganga. The biggest achievement of our plant is that we are now able to treat all the sewage generated by our community effectively,' said Manoj Kumar Verma, in-charge of the Jagjeetpur STP. Similarly, the 14 MLD STP in Sarai is effectively treating sewage using modern techniques. The treated water is being reused for irrigation, benefiting the local agricultural community and helping to mitigate groundwater depletion. Sandeep Rathore, a local farmer, said that the change in groundwater is noticeable. 'The water from this STP is being used for irrigation, and the difference compared to groundwater is clearly noticeable. Crops irrigated with this treated water grow much better. The nutrient content and overall quality of the water are excellent; it truly nourishes the crops,' Rathore said. These advanced facilities are future-ready, equipped to manage rising waste volumes stemming from the city's growing population and the increasing influx of pilgrims during major festivals such as the Char Dham Yatra. These initiatives mark important milestones under the Namami Gange Mission, launched by the Government of India to restore the Ganga to its pristine form. Apart from pollution abatement, the mission also aims to protect the religious, cultural, and ecological significance of riverside cities, such as Haridwar. Puri Rath Yatra: Know About 'Adhar Pana' Ritual And Its Significance
The 'Adhara Pana' ritual of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra was observed on Monday on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Puri. The ritual marks one of the concluding ceremonies of the Rath Yatra festival in which servitors offer sweet water to the deities on the chariots, a day before their return to the Jagannath temple in Puri. Adhara Pana is a special type of sweet drink in which cheese, milk, sugar and spices are mixed. The idols were decorated with golden attire, with sibling deities wearing gold jewellery weighing nearly 208 kg on the occasion of Suna Besha, which translates to "Golden Attire" or "Golden Adornment," symbolising divine prosperity, victory of good over evil and the Lord's eternal guardianship over the universe.
