Netflix announces season five and six of Bridgerton
Netflix has announced Bridgerton is being renewed for seasons five and six, while season four is set to premiere in 2026.
The period romantic drama, set during the Regency Era in Britain, has been a global hit since it debuted in 2020, with Irish actress Nicola Coughlan among its leading stars.
Season four is set to centre on Benedict (Luke Thompson), the bohemian second son.
A logline for the series reads: "Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down - until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball.
"While Benedict knows his love interest as only the Lady in Silver, she's actually Sophie, a resourceful maid with her own secrets and dreams."
The streaming service released a sneak peek of the newest instalment, showing Benedict seeing his new love for the first time.
The Lady in Silver, whose name is Sophie Baek, is played by newcomer Yerin Ha.
She said of taking on the character: "What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles - something that she constantly has to overcome.
"Whether it's this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict."
Thompson said the scripts for season four are "dynamite".
"The storyline is a bit of a twist on Cinderella," he said. You remember being told those stories as a child - the magic and the romance of them.
"It's really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton … It's such a great story, but it's also, I hope, really relatable."
New photos from the upcoming series show reunited best friends Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) promenading in London.
"They're more bonded than ever!" showrunner Jess Brownell said.
"Their trials and tribulations last season have added new depth to their friendship, and we're excited for viewers to see how their relationship looks now that they've each grown up a little."
