
RCMP make arrest shortly after fatal shooting in northern Alberta
Police say they have arrested a suspect in relation to the murder of a 34-year-old man in Kinuso, Alta.
Around 5 a.m. on Friday, Faust RCMP were called to assist the Lakeshore Regional Police Service with an active shooting on Swan River First Nation.
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in and took charge of the investigation once a murder was confirmed, said a statement issued Friday evening.
Officers quickly located and arrested a suspect who was known to the victim. Police identified the victim as Randy Courteoreille, a resident of Swan River First Nation.
Police did not release the suspect's name but said more information will be released.
Kinuso and Swan River First Nation are just south of Slave Lake, approximately 240 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

Cape Breton youth charged following robbery
Cape Breton Regional Police has charged a youth following a robbery that took place on King Street in North Sydney on Thursday. Police say officers responded to the area and spoke to a 12-year-old boy who was approached by another youth that produced a firearm and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot, no injuries were reported, a release from the Cape Breton police said. Mounties investigating fatal crash in North Vancouver

Police investigating playground fire in northwest Edmonton
A playground in northwest Edmonton is charred after what police are calling a suspicious fire. A statement from police said they noticed smoke in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street around 8 a.m. playground fire Police responded to a fire at a playground in northwest Edmonton.
