BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood apologises to co-star live on air in awkward blunder
The weather presenter made a blunder live on air.
BBC Breakfast presenter Carol Kirkwood had to quickly issue an apology to her co-star during Wednesday's show.
On the programme, BBC viewers tuning in saw the weather presenter detail the latest forecast, warning it will turn increasingly humid in the south throughout the day.
Despite drizzly patches of rain throughout the UK, the 63-year-old star went on to say that overall, it'll be bright and sunny.
As she wrapped up and began to hand back to Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson in the studio, Carol made a blunder, writes The Express.
She said: "Jon and Sally, you were saying- Sorry, Ben and Sal."
The BBC star seemed to get Ben Thompson's name confused with Jon Kay, who is usually co-hosting alongside Sally during the week.
Addressing the mishap, Ben joked: "I answer to anything Carol, don't worry," She replied: "Oh Ben, I am so sorry! You're so lovely as well."
Assuring her it was all ok, he added: "Don't be daft! It's just all these short names, that's what it is. It's nice to see you."
Currently, Ben has been filling in for the regular presenter Jon after the seasoned broadcaster enjoyed a break away from the show.
Taking to Instagram this week, Jon shared a snap of himself on the beach with the caption: "Long weekend back in the beautiful West Country."
It wasn't long before people commented on the snap, with many hoping he enjoyed his time away from the red sofa.
One person said: "You deserved it," while somebody else added: "Looks beautiful."
Another follower commented: "Hope you had a wonderful weekend to decompress." One fan said: "That looks lovely. Missed you being with Sally this morning."
It's not yet known when Jon will resume his presenting duties on the programme.
This wasn't Carol's first time saying the name live on air as she did the same at the start to the year, she found herself apologising after a name slip-up. Carol mistakenly addressed her co-host Sarah as Sally.
The confusion arose since Sally Nugent usually presents alongside Jon from Monday to Wednesday, but Sarah had stepped in during half term. "It's Thursday that we'll all be in that milder air, Jon and Sal," Carol remarked before catching her error.
The BBC presenter was visibly stunned as she quickly corrected herself, exclaiming: "Sarah! Sorry."
The on-air gaffe prompted laughter from her fellow presenters, but the broadcast took an unforeseen twist when the camera abruptly switched to another broadcaster at the BBC London Breakfast news desk.
Caught off guard, the presenter glanced into the lens with a look of surprise while Jon and Sarah's voices continued in the backdrop.
From off-screen, Sarah's voice was heard saying, "I didn't hear what she said! " and Jon chimed in with a hushed, "Shh, don't tell her, don't tell her."

Brooklyn Beckham's decision could leave sister Harper 'devastated' amid family feud
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Beckham family has been embroiled in a bitter feud after eldest son Brooklyn, 26, allegedly severed ties with his parents and siblings amid an ongoing dispute. Brooklyn has noticeably snubbed his family on social media, recently ignoring his dad David's 50th birthday celebrations and failing to offer congratulations on his knighthood. He also neglected to pay tribute to his parents on Father's Day and Mother's Day. With his sister Harper's 14th birthday looming on July 10, Brooklyn faces a significant decision. A source revealed to MailOnline that Harper would be "devastated" if her brother fails to acknowledge her special day. READ MORE - Chris Tarrant savages Phillip Schofield as he points out 'nasty little trick' READ MORE - Edinburgh's secret tunnel 500 metres deep that let people to walk under the Forth The insider shared: "Brooklyn and Harper used to be inseparable." The source continued: "He adored her, he hopefully still does, but the problem is that Brooklyn has a track record for ignoring family birthdays now. It would be devastating for Harper not to hear from him. She hasn't done anything and she's only 13-years-old.", reports the Mirror. The family reportedly holds Nicola responsible for the rift, but they remain hopeful that Brooklyn will come to his senses. As Harper doesn't have her own Instagram account, the family typically tags her in their posts using #harperseven. Despite the underlying reasons for the disparity being hush-hush, whispers suggest that Brooklyn's partner, Nicola, aged 30, may be the wedge that has distanced him from his kin. Following the buzz that Nicola might lie at the core of the relational rift, Brooklyn publicly rallied behind his wife on Instagram. He uploaded a fond video to his Instagram with the heartfelt message: "My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby." (Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage) (Image: instagram) (Image: INSTAGRAM) The lovebirds pledged their commitment in July 2020 and celebrated their union two years on. The couple honoured their heritage with a Jewish ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida, nodding to both Brooklyn's distant Jewish grand-relative and Nicola's father, Nelson Peltz's faith. Nicola has become an integral part of the Beckham clan over time, frequently participating in family gatherings and gracing red carpet spectacles shoulder to shoulder with them. Brooklyn's rapport with his relatives has historically been sturdy, marked by shared vacations and joint festivities at significant events. Memorable is a clip that spread like wildfire across social platforms in 2018, capturing Brooklyn catching his dad off guard to mark his 43rd birthday celebration. David Beckham was taken by surprise at a London eatery when his son Brooklyn swooped in for a warm embrace. Recently flown in from New York, Brooklyn's unexpected appearance on his father's special day led to an emotional reunion of the two. Despite pursuing his craft away from the lens, Brooklyn Beckham hasn't lost touch with family ties as he recently celebrated his grandmother Sandra's 76th birthday. Showing strong affection, he shared a heartfelt message on social media: "Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much." Brooklyn has also become an integral part of wife Nicola's clan, sharing a close bond with her parents Nelson and Claudia. In a show of familial solidarity, Brooklyn extended heartfelt birthday greetings to his billionaire father-in-law Nelson via Instagram just yesterday. While David, Victoria and their trio Harper, Romeo, and Cruz enjoy their abode in Holland Park, London, Brooklyn and Nicola have made LA their home. Observers are keenly watching to see if Brooklyn will publicly celebrate his sister's birthday or if an omission could signify a deepening divide within the family.

Molly-Mae's is a 'Wimbledon lady' in white maxi dress that 'suits all shapes'
Molly-Mae Hague wowed at Wimbledon last year in a flattering white maxi dress that 'suits all shapes' as fans hailed her the 'epitome of a Wimbledon lady' The highly anticipated Wimbledon tournament is set to kick off tomorrow (June 30), and with it comes the perfect excuse for celebrities and tennis enthusiasts to show off their stylish takes on the classic 'Wimbledon whites' theme. One standout look from last year's event was courtesy of Molly-Mae Hague, who stunned in a chic white maxi dress that might just be one of the most memorable courtside ensembles to date. The former Love Island star took to Instagram to showcase her Wimbledon-inspired outfit, donning Odd Muse's £125 The Ultimate Muse Collar Maxi Dress, which earned her a flurry of compliments from fans. "Omg the epitome of a Wimbledon lady right there wow" gushed one admirer, while another fan raved: "The @oddmuselondon dress is stunning on you!!!" A third follower begged for details on her outfit, asking: "Where's this dress from", and a fourth fan couldn't get enough, exclaiming: "Obsessed with this look and that bag is unreal". Molly-Mae's outfit was elevated by a sleek, quilted black Chanel bag and understated gold bracelets, paired with a chic, loose chignon bun. However, the true showstopper was the Odd Muse dress itself, boasting a streamlined, elegant silhouette and luxurious details. The dress features a crisp, pointed collar and button-down front, giving it a timeless, classic shirt dress feel, while its sleeveless design ensures it's perfect for the warmer months. Crafted from a lightweight, sumptuous fabric, the dress also boasts tailored darts and a front slit, creating a flattering silhouette that suits all body types. If you're eager to snag Molly-Mae's Wimbledon dress, you're in luck as it's currently up for grabs in all sizes from a XXS to 3XL. Plus, if the all-white ensemble isn't your cup of tea, it also comes in black and grey. Molly-Mae's dress created such a buzz last year that this year there are several other designs offering a similar look. For instance, Karen Millen's £119 Cotton Top Stitch Woven Midi Shirt Dress boasts a similar collared neckline and fitted shirt dress design. Instead of a halter neck, it features a classic sleeveless fit that shields your shoulders from the sun, coupled with a more flowing midi length skirt. It offers a slightly more relaxed, breezy vibe with a belted waist and floaty linen-blend material, making it ideal for basking in the summer sun. Even if you're not off to Wimbledon this year, these elegant dresses can be worn for a day at the races, graduation ceremonies or even just a fancy dinner out, making them the perfect versatile addition to your summer event wardrobe, reports OK!.

A Place in the Sun star reveals the two items presenters are banned from wearing
A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas has opened up about the "hard graft" involved with the filming of the Channel 4 show and the two items the hosts are banned from wearing A Place In The Sun presenter has revealed the less glamorous side of her job. The Channel 4 show helps prospective buyers in their search for their dream home abroad. Scarlette Douglas, 38, first appeared on the property programme in 2015, offering her expertise to numerous house hunters. Despite visiting various locations and meeting a wide range of people, the job isn't always as easy as it seems. Scarlett told The Express that working on A Place In The Sun is actually "really hard", with five days of filming squeezed into one "47-minute show." She also revealed two items that presenters are not allowed to wear, reports Leicestershire Live. "There's a lot that goes into it. It's hard graft," the property expert admitted. She added: "You can't wear sunglasses or a hat." The host confessed: "You just about have time to drink some water. You keep going and going and going, so as much as it looks glamorous, it's actually a really difficult show." Scarlette said goodbye to A Place In The Sun in 2022 and has since featured on another property show, Worst House On The Street. The Channel 4 series sees property developers Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, who are siblings, helping people revamp their family homes without breaking the bank. It comes as Jasmine Harman, a host from A Place In The Sun, has shared an 'awful' experience she had while filming the Channel 4 show. The property expert, who has been on the programme since 2004, recalled a bout of motion sickness during a microlight plane ride in the Algarve. "We were flying and he was doing all of these little tricks and I got a bit of motion sickness and I started to feel a bit dodgy. I kept telling myself, 'I'll be alright, I'll be alright,'' she told the Express. However, upon landing, Jasmine felt 'so sick' that she ended up vomiting inside her helmet. "I ended up vomiting inside the helmet. And it was so embarrassing." "In front of the house hunters and this handsome pilot. The whole team," she confessed. Despite the incident being "an awful moment" with "everyone there," Jasmine can now look back and laugh at the experience.
