Park Bo-gum, Blackpink's Jennie named South Korea's tourism ambassadors for 2025
South Korean actor Park Bo-gum has been officially named the honorary ambassador for 2025 Korea Tourism at a ceremony in Seoul on July 29.
Park, 32, who recently starred in the hit K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines (2025), appears in three separate tourism videos, including a music video for On My Way .
Performed by the actor himself, the original song is the result of a collaboration between the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the K-pop industry.
Park said at the event that one of his favourite places is the area surrounding Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung.
'But I hope you'll also explore regions outside of Seoul. I'd especially recommend Busan, where I recently filmed (TV series) Good Boy ,' he added.
He also recommended Seoul's public bike-sharing service, Seoul Bike, officially known as Ddareungi.
'I love riding a Ddareungi along the Han River,' the star said. 'If you haven't tried it yet, I'd really like to introduce you to it.'
First launched in 2015, South Korea's tourism promotional videos, featuring celebrities such as boy band BTS, actor Lee Jung-jae and girl group NewJeans, have drawn increasing global attention, particularly following the breakout success of the Feel The Rhythm Of Korea series in 2020.
It has since become a cultural phenomenon, with its videos collectively amassing more than 240 million views across multiple platforms.
Meanwhile, Jennie of K-pop girl group Blackpink will lend her star power to Seoul, the Seoul Tourism Organisation announced on July 29.
The South Korean singer was tapped as the honorary ambassador to promote tourism in the capital city in 2025, and a campaign video featuring the 29-year-old will be unveiled on July 31.
Under the catchphrase 'Absolutely in Seoul', the first promotional video – Daltokki – will follow Jennie as she explores spots in Seoul, from Gyeongbokgung to Seongsu-dong.
The second video will incorporate her song Seoul City (2025), from her first solo full-length album Ruby , released in March.
In 2024, South Korea welcomed approximately 16.37 million overseas visitors, a 48.4% increase from the previous year and reaching 94% of the pre‑Covid‑19 peak of around 17.5 million in 2019, according to the KTO.
The country aims to attract 18.5 million overseas visitors in 2025. – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network

Soundtrack 'Golden' from KPop Demon Hunters hits No. 1 on UK singles chart, 13 years after Psy's 'Gangnam Style'
A still image from Netflix's animated film "KPop Demon Hunters," featuring Huntr/x. - Netflix SEOUL: The original soundtrack "Golden" of Netflix's global animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" soared to the top of the UK Official Singles Chart, marking the first K-pop song to reach No. 1 in over a decade. Released as part of the animated film, "Golden" achieved the No. 1 position in its sixth week on the chart, rising three spots from the previous week. The track, performed by the fictional girl group Huntr/x, is a part of the movie's soundtrack, which features a K-pop girl group battling evil spirits to protect the human world. The UK Official Charts Company highlighted that this is the first K-pop No. 1 on the British chart since Psy's record-breaking "Gangnam Style" in 2012. In a statement published on the company's website, Martin Talbot, CEO of Official Charts, called the achievement "another landmark moment for the globally dominating South Korean genre." "Golden" has resonated with listeners for its catchy melody and impressive vocal performances. The track has garnered attention for its blend of K-pop and English lyrics, with some lines including Korean phrases like "forever unbreakable." It has been described as a summer hit, gaining traction alongside the success of the animated film. The song, composed by Ejae, a former SM Entertainment trainee, and performed by Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, also includes production from renowned K-pop producers Teddy and 24 of The Black Label. The film's success has helped propel "Golden" to new heights, moving up steadily from No. 93 to No. 4 before claiming the top spot. In addition to its success in the UK, "Golden" has reached No. 1 on South Korea's Melon Top 100 chart and No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Other tracks from the "KPop Demon Hunters" soundtrack have also charted in the UK, with "Your Idol" at No. 10, "Soda Pop" at No. 11 and "Takedown" at No. 63. - The Korea Hderald/ANN

(Video) Fans Coo Over Adorable Interaction Between ATEEZ's Wooyoung & Service Dog
Many K-pop idols have gone viral for their fan interactions, some for hilarious reasons and others for heartwarming ones. However, ATEEZ (에이티즈) member Wooyoung (우영) recently melted hearts with his interaction with a four-legged friend. Earlier this week, ATEEZ completed the Tacoma stop of their 'ATEEZ 2025 WORLD TOUR [IN YOUR FANTASY]' world tour in the United States. After the show, the group and selected fans participated in the sendoff segment. During the session, Wooyoung came across a fan's service dog and began interacting with the animal. Fans at the sendoff shared the videos online and quickly went viral amongst K-pop fans. The service dog named Felix was at the sendoff to accompany an ATINY (ATEEZ fan) with a disability. However, with the owner's permission, Wooyoung was allowed to interact with and pet Felix. The idol even tried to get Felix to do some tricks and was surprised when the dog followed his instructions. Fans have reacted to Wooyoung and Felix's wholesome interaction, with many cooing over it. Some also said the moment highlights the idol's sweet and caring personality. For those wondering, a service dog is a dog trained to perform tasks that mitigate the effects of a person's disability. Service dogs are considered working animals, and their training directly relates to the individual's specific disability. In the US, service dogs and other service animals are allowed to enter public spaces, including concert halls and stadiums, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Felix's owner also shared more information, revealing that the dog is trained in cardiac alert and item retrieval. While Felix was at the concert for work, his owner allowed the ATEEZ members to say hi and pet Felix if they wanted to. The owner also mentioned that, besides Wooyoung, a few other members interacted with Felix. At the same time, she also warned against interacting with service dogs unprompted, as it may be dangerous. We're glad that Wooyoung was able to interact with Felix safely. Like many others, we also found the wholesome moment very heartwarming. Here are a few clips from the interaction: Sources: Twitter (1)(2)
