Weather forecast maps for Boston area show storms could bring downpours today
The Storms Prediction Center has placed all of southern New England in a "marginal" risk for severe weather today.
This is the lowest category (1 of 5) that the center issues.

In addition, the center issued a 5% risk for damaging winds within any thunderstorms that form today.

There could be a few widely scattered downpours as early as 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The greatest risk comes between 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. this evening. This is when many models show a cluster of storms moving from west to east across the state.
The main concern would be for some locally heavy downpours along with some occasional lightning. There is a smaller chance of some isolated wind damage or hail.
Again, we do not anticipate a major severe weather outbreak today. We would urge you to stay tuned to the latest forecast and keep an eye to the sky if you have any outdoor plans this evening.

July 4th forecast
Looking ahead a few days to the 4th of July: For the most part, it is a near perfect weather forecast.
The humidity from the next few days will be gone, leaving a very comfortable airmass in its place.
The day will start with wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures in the 70s by late morning and noon.
The air well above our heads will be a bit unstable on Friday so, there will likely be some clouds popping up during the afternoon.
There is a very slight risk of an isolated, pop-up shower at some point in the afternoon or evening. This is not something to necessarily focus on as the chance is very low.

Highs will rise into the low 80s during the afternoon.
For fireworks displays at night, the skies will be mainly clear, and temperatures will fall back into the upper 60s and low 70s.

Chantal's remnants could fuel storms in Boston amid heat advisory, weather maps show
The WBZ Weather Team is highlighting today and Tuesday as NEXT Weather Alert days in Massachusetts. This alert is for a combination of heat and humidity as well as a threat for scattered storms fueled by the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal in the Boston area. The National Weather Service has posted a heat advisory for most of Southern New England (away from the South Coast) until 8 p.m. Monday and may decide to re-issue for Tuesday as well. If you are feeling a little déjà vu, the timing of this heat is very similar to that boiling heatwave we had a few weeks ago. That one also started on a Sunday and now, once again, many areas will reach an official heatwave this week (Sunday-Tuesday). As of this writing, Boston is inching very close to 90 today and we are forecasting another 90 degree day on Tuesday. Add in some very "juicy" dewpoints and it will feel close to 100 degrees at times this afternoon as well as Tuesday afternoon. There will just be a few isolated downpours here and there through this evening, not expecting any organized severe weather. The threat is a tad higher on Tuesday and the Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of southern New England in a "marginal" risk for severe weather. Post-tropical Chantal While there isn't much left to Chantal at this point, it could infuse some atmospheric energy into the developing storms on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Any storms that do develop could contain some very heavy downpours, frequent lightning and some pockets of wind damage. Hot conditions peak as monsoon moisture arrives in Utah for the middle of the week
SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Tuesday, Utah! Our Tuesday afternoon will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine across the state. We may begin to tap into a bit of monsoonal moisture, leading to a chance for isolated storms to develop over the higher terrain, and possibly drift into the valley areas. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of central and southern Utah Tuesday for the risk for dry lightning and possible fire ignitions due to the lightning. Tuesday high temperatures will be in the upper 90s to 100 for the Wasatch Front and near 106° for SW Utah. A Heat Advisory is in effect for eastern Box Elder county, the Wasatch Front, and Tooele Valley for this afternoon through Tuesday late evening. The combination of near triple digit heat Monday, and triple digit heat Tuesday will help to increase the heat risk danger for northern Utah Tuesday. Increasing moisture thanks to a monsoonal tap will help to aid in more clouds and moisture around the Beehive state for the middle of the work week. Look for chances for showers & storms on an isolated to scattered basis to increase. No washouts are in the forecast, but the chance for some pop-ups will become more widespread. Highs will cool due to the extra clouds and showers to the low to mid 90s along the Wasatch Front, and potentially below 100° for SW Utah. Later this week, just in time for the 4th of July, we will begin to dry things out and heat things up. Friday will feature mostly sunny to partly sunny skies, with a very slight chance for a pop-up across northern Utah. Southern Utah will be dry and hot. Highs across southern Utah will warm back to near 100°, while highs across northern Utah will warm into the low to mid 90s. It gets even hotter and drier for the weekend with sunny skies and hot temperatures. Highs will warm back to the upper 90s across the north, and 100°+ for SW Utah!
