Anshula Kapoor reveals The Traitors left her with PTSD: ‘No amount of money should be okay to give you mental health triggers'

Social media influencer Anshula Kapoor recently got evicted from The Traitors. After her exit, Anshula spoke to SCREEN about her traumatic experience on the show and how her bond with Maheep Kapoor seemed to bother others. Anshula, who is Arjun Kapoor's sister, also shared that when she signed the show, the makers had assured that the show was an intelligent one; however, it has only turned out to be an extension of Bigg Boss.
Talking about how having her aunt, Maheep Kapoor, on the show was a relief, Anshula said, 'Honestly, it was very comforting on the first day, but then we started picking up that everybody else was extremely uncomfortable that we knew each other from before. Even though several contestants knew each other from previous associations, at some point, Maheep chachi and I discovered that maybe we should figure out how to become more friendly with others rather than just sticking to each other.'

She added, 'The entire plan was always to pit one against the other. Both of us were being as transparent with each other as possible. It's a show at the end of the day, and she is my aunt, we are a family, and have an entire life of living together. We couldn't let something said or done on the show affect our relationship outside of the show. That should never be the case. Here, I will give 100 percent credit to Maheep. She was and is incredibly nonchalant about the fact that it's a game and has to be played like one. She was like, 'Whatever happens here is not going out of here.' We were not going to carry that baggage outside. That gave me comfort, more than having her physically there, because I knew our relationship was not going to get soured because of what one of us said to the other.'
Anshula Kapoor further shared how coming from a film family became a disadvantage in the game, as she was judged for being a star kid. She said, 'I don't deny that I come from privilege, and also, I am not the only person on that show with a certain amount of privilege. I can't do anything about the fact that I come from privilege either. I can just be myself, which is what I was doing on the show. I am not a front-footed person. I don't do drama. I like to be in control of my emotions, and I was being myself. So if I was being judged for or asked questions for, or being taunted, or being made fun of because of the family I belong to, my lineage, my last name. It was a game. It could have been a tactic to get a rile out of me to see what my baseline is because a lot of contestants were doing that as well. They were trying to poke where it hurts the most. You try not to hold on to it unless it's abusive.'
Calling The Traitors a traumatic experience, Anshula Kapoor shared how it all affected her. She said, 'I have very selective memory because the show was a little bit traumatising for me. Not only did I have trauma from the show, but I was also extremely traumatized because of the last mission, which was very triggering for me due to a past lived experience. There was a psychologist on set, but I was not able to get the support I needed, even though I requested it after the mission. I was mentally done by then; the negativity was getting to me. It was psychologically bullsh** and I didn't want to subject myself to this.'
Anshula further shared, 'I went back into intensive therapy because there was a lot of personal trauma that got regurgitated in the show due to the conversations, the last mission, being completely out of my comfort zone. It was not easy, and I am not saying this to get sympathy, but I don't know if I would want to put myself willingly in this position. When I signed up for the show, I didn't sign up for the trauma. I signed up to play an intelligent game.'
Even though her family stood by her, Anshula Kapoor shared that she felt her mental and physical state had collapsed after her experience on The Traitors. She said, 'My partner, brother, and sisters were all very supportive. Also, because Maheep got out early, she and Arjun Bhaiyya had a conversation where she explained to them the show, the environment, and the headspace of the house. That gave him a perspective on what was going on; he knew that I was coming from a f***ed-up mental space. He was prepared for it.'
'I did a psychological test after the show, and I was diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), which is something I didn't have before going into the show. They did a psychological test for us before we were confirmed as contestants. If I had PTSD, then they would have flagged it to me, but they didn't. That's not something you sign up for, and no amount of money should be okay to give you that kind of mental health triggers,' Anshula Kapoor concluded.

Karan Johar opens up about most hurtful comment as a single parent: 'It broke my heart'

Filmmaker Karan Johar shared one of the most painful moments of his life as a single parent in a recent interview. Known for his candour and emotional vulnerability, Karan admitted that a comment questioning his decision to raise children without a mother shook him to his core and made him question the very foundation of his parenthood. (Also read: Karan Johar says the biggest issue of Bollywood is 'herd mentality': Everybody wants to make horror comedies) Karan Johar reveals a harsh comment which made him question his decision to be a single parent. In a conversation with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Karan recalled being confronted with a particularly harsh remark: 'Do you realise that you have denied your children a mother?' 'That broke my heart. Because for the first time, I questioned my decision to be a single parent. I believe I can be everything for them—a parent, their mother, their father, their grandparent. I have that love in me. But that comment made me second-guess if I had done the right thing,' he said. Karan, who became a father to twins Yash and Roohi through surrogacy in 2017, has often spoken about how fatherhood changed his life. However, this comment left him spiralling into self-doubt. He went on to share the moment of vulnerability that followed. 'That very morning, when I read that comment, I had a moment. I just broke down. I was sitting alone in my room and cried. I went into their room and asked them, 'Are you happy?' and they said, 'Yeah, very happy, Dada.' I asked them why, and they simply said, 'Because you are our Dada.'' Karan Johar's upcoming project Karan Johar is currently hosting The Traitors, which will see its finale on 3 July on Amazon Prime. The first season of the reality show featured 20 celebrities, including Raj Kundra, Lakshmi Manchu, Sahil Salathia, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Jannat Zubair, Janvi Gaur, Sufi Motiwala, Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva Mukhija, Purav Jha, Nikita Luther, Sudhanshu Pandey, Harsh Gujral, Jasmine Bhasin and Uorfi Javed. The Traitors: Jannat Zubair, Elnaaz Norouzi, And Anshula Kapoor Exit Game, Pressure Peaks

New Delhi: The 3rd Week Of The Traitors had high-pressure missions and mounting self-doubt to unfiltered reflections on gameplay, this week saw it all. Eliminated players Jannat Zubair, Elnaaz Norouzi, Sufi Motiwala, Anshula Kapoor, and Janvi Gaur opened up about their journey, their decisions, and what it took to survive in this thrilling game—until they couldn't. Traitor, Elnaaz Nourouzi shared, 'I did enjoy being a Traitor, but I was also under a lot of pressure. Episode 7 was the height of it for me, and till yesterday, I was second-guessing myself every day, wondering if I took the right steps in every episode. For me, the show was constantly about giving the viewers something to see. It was never about myself. Obviously, I tried to do my best, but I knew that even if I'm not the winner, I wanted to make sure the mission money was earned. You know, because that's the whole point of the game.' Anshula Kapoor shared, 'Just remember, what you (audience) all are watching was supposed to be a game of strategy. It still is a game. Even though there could have been emotionally volatile moments, it was never meant to be any sort of character assassination, in a personal sense of the word, because it was a very high-pressure situation, and only the 20 of us who were in it actually can understand and tell you what that high-pressure means and why we were behaving so volatile. No need to get personal with that.' Sufi Motiwala reacted 'I knew that I was going to die, I was prepared, and I was the one who cried the most. I was actually not even bothered about the announcement, I was worried about ki girne ke baad kya honewala hai. I was inside that thing (drop shaft) for like 20 minutes while they were all doing their shots, 100-degree temperature, and I am being cooked inside. It was epic.' Jannat said, 'Circle of Shaq mein ek baar bhi mera naam slate par nai likha gaya. It's not an easy job. Sabko itna convince karna ki aap sach mein innocent ho, yeh bhi ek job thi. Voh koi realise hi nai kar raha ki kisiko itna convince karna bohot bada task tha joh maine throughout kiya.' Further, she added, 'I am very happy in sab ke saath bond bana ke, meri har kisike saath dosti hai, aur main bohot khush hoon ke tumlogo (audience) ne mujhe itna pyaar diya aur aap log hum sab ko after the show bhi itna pyaar de rahe ho.' Janvi Gaur shared, 'Fabulous. At the age of 50, when something like this comes to you, it brings back childhood memories. We played games, ladai, jhagda, and bohot maza aaya. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Every day, getting ready felt very glamorous and very fun. It was a mix bag of everything, but I enjoyed every second of it. There is nothing I would like to take back. It is a fantastic show, one of the best in a very long time. Itna amazing cocktail hai, I think the cast, all 20 of us. Kisi ki bhi non-required nai thi. We were a beautiful mixed bag.' Episodes 1 to 9 of The Traitors are now streaming on Prime Video, with the grand finale dropping on Thursday at 8 PM.

Sufi Motiwala: There's more to a person than their social media persona

Sufi Motiwala Arguably one of the most entertaining contestants on The Traitors (India), online fashion critic and content creator Sufi Motiwala brought with him to the show a heady mix of sass, energy, and a bold personality — the kind of combo that reality TV thrives on. But just as viewers were beginning to root for his fierce one-liners and unapologetic self-expression, his journey came to an abrupt end when he was 'murdered' by traitor Purav Jha. So, what made him sign up for a show that thrives on paranoia and betrayal? For Sufi, it was about breaking the perception around his image. He says, 'I think with the concept of the show being betrayal and dhoka, I really wanted to show people how much of a human being I am — soft and sensitive in real life — because that's a big contradiction to my social media personality, and that's very important to me. Secondly, I love money, so the winning amount. Thirdly, I love cameras, and I love screens, and I love seeing myself on the screen, and I think this is the best way to achieve that in a way where I don't have to compromise my ethics. It's still a game, but people still get to see my personality. I have no regrets from the game. I am very, very happy that it started the way it did, and ended the way it did.' Given his famously unfiltered fashion commentary, was he ever worried that this no-holds-barred persona might make him appear less trustworthy in a game where suspicion can cost you dearly? Sufi admits, 'Of course it can make you seem highly untrustworthy. If you see the interviews with Karan Johar , Apoorva Mukhija, Uorfi Javed, Mukesh Chhabra — everybody said that they would find me to be the most untrustworthy, and that is exactly what I wanted to break on the show. Your Instagram and your sass are not your whole definition or your existence. There is much more to a human being than just what they show on social media.' And when it comes to fashion — Sufi's self-confessed playground — he doesn't shy away from dishing out his verdict. On who nailed the style game on The Traitors, he says, 'I think Janvi Gaur was the best dressed, Sahil Salathia in men, and me and Apoorva in the Gen Z girlie pop category.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo He adds, 'I wouldn't say worst dressed, but just based on my preference, Nikita Luther, Ashish Vidyarthi sir, and Sudhanshu Pandey sir could have brought more energy with the looks.' Extending his style radar to Bollywood, Sufi keeps it real. 'I'm forever biased to Janhvi Kapoor and Rekha ji. The celebs who need a style intervention are the Khans — Aamir, Shah Rukh, and Salman. I love them, adore them, and respect them. I also can't help but notice that they wear the same things they have since their movies from the 2000s. While it works, their style seems to not have evolved at all, and I would honestly just love to see them in a different, more edgy element.'
