Cowboys Have Young 'Building Block' For Brian Schottenheimer
When Cooper Beebe won the Dallas Cowboys' starting center role from Brock Hoffman last offseason, many were unsure how the guard would transition to being "the" guy along the offensive line.

Well, he was just fine.
In fact, he is better than fine as Beebe handled everything thrown at him with aplomb, and now, with Brian Schottenheimer as the leading voice behind what we think will be a run-first offense, Beebe is expected to continue his ascension as part of his new-look, youthful offensive line.
As such, Bleacher Report has named Beebe as Dallas' promising building block.
"As a rookie last year, Beebe earned the starting job," Bleacher Report writes. "All-Pro guard Zack Martin retired. So, Dallas has a young trio on the interior of its offensive line. Tyler Smith is an established two-time Pro Bowler who can also line up at left tackle if Tyler Guyton continues to struggle as a starter. Tyler Booker is a rookie first-rounder who has to showcase his potential this year. Beebe could be the all-important centerpiece of that triumvirate."

We don't have to look back too far to see the benefits of having a foundational center being at the top of their game and how it helps the offense run, with Travis Frederick the main one who comes to mind (recently), so too Tyler Biadasz.
Is Cooper the next one in line?
Yeah, we think so.
What's thrilling about where the Dallas O-line can go here is that while Beebe is a fine pick ... did we mention that Smith is a young All-Pro? Did we mention that Booker projects to be right there with him?
But as for the center?
After being so calm and steady in his rookie season, handling the checks at the line of scrimmage with Dak Prescott and then Cooper Rush, Beebe showed he could be the heartbeat of the offensive line.

And when you are that, you can be a franchise building block, which is exactly what we think Cooper has the potential to be.

He has two years and $110.8 million remaining on his deal. If the Suns waive Beal, they could stretch his salary over five seasons, leaving approximately $19.4 million in dead money on their books through 2029-30. Because of a quirk in the collective bargaining agreement, Beal must give back at least $13.8 million in a buyout for the Suns to stretch his salary. Beal understands that because the money has dried up on the free-agent market, he is unlikely to make back the $13.8 million he would be giving up right away. His ideal move could be to sign a two-year contract with a player option on the second season, allowing him to re-enter the market in 2026 to sign for a larger number. Advertisement The Clippers waived third-year forward Jordan Miller on Tuesday, a league source said, a move that will give them a bit more room below the first apron, a payroll threshold slightly above the luxury tax. Had they not waived Miller, giving Beal a $5.3 million salary would have made it more complicated to fill out the roster with two veterans on minimum contracts. Beal signed a five-year, $251 million contract with the Washington Wizards in 2022 that contained a no-trade clause, a rarity in the league where front offices don't typically yield that level of control.

Caitlin Clark expected to return for Fever against Valkyries after five-game absence
After missing the last five games, Caitlin Clark appears on the cusp of returning to the court for the Indiana Fever. Head coach Stephanie White told reporters on Tuesday that she expects her star point guard to be available against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night at home. "If there's no setbacks after today, I anticipate her being available," White said. Clark admitted it's been hard watching her team from the sideline, so she enjoyed a full practice on Monday with her teammates. "Yeah, I just think it's nice to get back out there and get into the flow of playing with my teammates again," she said. "It's going to be fun to get back out there hopefully and just feel things again." The question is what White will do in terms of Clark's minutes if she is indeed available on Tuesday night. Clark has noticed in the past she doesn't like minutes restrictions when she's healthy enough to play. However, she understands White has to do her job to make sure the Fever come away with the victory. "I don't know the type of minutes I'm going to get and what it will look like, but just compete and play hard," Clark said. "This is going to be a team that's moving constantly, so just be aware and active. Bring energy. It's hard sitting out for a few weeks, so I'm definitely excited to get back out there." Clark added that she hopes for a "decent amount" of minutes if she plays, preferably in the "upper-20s." "Depends on how I feel and how the game goes, and what the team needs as well," she said. The Fever have gone 3-2 in Clark's latest absence this season. She missed five games earlier in the year with a left quad strain. White discussed how her team has looked since Clark, who the offense usually runs through when she's on the court, has been sidelined. "First and foremost, our defensive energy and effort had been really good," she said. "Our mobility, our activity level, our ability to execute schemes, for the most part, had been really good. We've had defensive versatility, and I love offensively how the ball's moving. Multiple players getting touches, we're moving the ball side to side. We're getting high-percentage looks, and that's been a part of just conversations as 'C' gets back on the floor." In the nine games she has played this season, Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and five rebounds per game. Rangers, Astros join teams in pledging relief efforts after deadly central Texas floods
Texas' two Major League Baseball teams are joining in to help recovery efforts after devastating flooding in the central part of the state. The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros each pledged $1 million toward relief efforts on Monday. They are just the latest professional teams to make a donation. The Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the NFL Foundation combined to donate $1.5 million, and the state's three NBA teams, along with the NBA Players Association, combined to donate more than $2 million. A massive storm swept through Kerr County, which sits northwest of San Antonio, and the surrounding areas on Friday. As of Tuesday afternoon, according to The New York Times , the death toll had risen to at least 111 people. At least 161 people remained missing in the county, too, and officials said that nobody had been found alive since Friday even after the search widened. Advertisement Fast-moving waters rose more than 20 feet in less than two hours along the Guadalupe River on Friday morning, which led to millions of people being placed under flood watches over the weekend. A Christian summer camp for girls was especially impacted, too. At least 27 campers and staff members were killed in the flooding, and several are still missing.
