FM Strongly Criticizes EU Conclusions on Yemen

Foreign of Minister Jamal Amer strongly criticized the conclusions of the recent European Union Foreign Ministers' meeting on Yemen.
In a letter addressed to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas, Minister Amer considered these conclusions to be a clear bias and an adoption of the narrative of the aggressor states and their proxies, as they overlooked the fact that what Yemen is witnessing is a direct result of aggression and an unjust blockade.
He refuted the allegations contained in the conclusions, stressing that the military operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as against the "Zionist entity," come within the context of a "legitimate and principled response" to the ongoing aggression and blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, and within the framework of the humanitarian, moral, and religious duty towards the Palestinian people.
The letter indicated that the Yemeni operations are "not random," but rather target specific vessels linked to the Zionist enemy or countries participating in the aggression against Yemen. It emphasized that freedom of navigation cannot be a cover for "the shedding of the blood of our children and women in Yemen and Palestine."
The Foreign Minister attributed the failure of UN peace efforts to the "intransigence of the aggressor states" and their rejection of just Yemeni demands. He pointed out that Washington was the one that halted an agreement with Riyadh regarding the roadmap to pressure Sana'a's position on the events in Gaza.
As stressing that Sana'a supports a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees Yemen's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, he pointed out that "it is impossible to talk about a real and sustainable peace while the aggression and blockade continue." Any international or regional initiatives must be based on this reality and exert real pressure on the "aggressor states" to end their aggression, lift their blockade, and withdraw their forces.
He also criticized the European Union's continued support for what he called the "Yemeni government" and the "Presidential Leadership Council," formed by foreign powers, considering it support for the "tools of aggression" and a prolongation of the crisis.
The Foreign Minister explained that these entities are responsible for plundering Yemen's wealth and exacerbating the suffering of citizens in the occupied territories.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates' letter affirmed Sana'a's categorical rejection of any attempt by the European Union to "impose its guardianship over Yemen's foreign positions," emphasizing that its positions "stem from its principles, values, and the supreme interests of its people."
He expressed his deep astonishment at the call for Yemen to adopt specific positions, while the European Union continues to "blatantly ignore the war crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist entity" in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories and "overlook the crimes of aggression and the blockade imposed on Yemen."
Minister Amer considered the European Union's continued reiteration of accusations regarding "weapons proliferation and Iran's role" an attempt to justify the failure of the aggression, emphasizing the Yemeni people's right to develop their defensive capabilities.
The letter called on the European Union to address the flow of weapons to the "aggression states," stressing that Operation Aspides and other attempts to militarize the Red Sea are a "dangerous escalation" aimed at protecting the interests of the "Zionist entity" and threatening the security of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates renewed his call for the European Union and its member states to conduct a comprehensive and radical review of their policies toward Yemen and shift toward a balanced and fair stance that reflects the facts on the ground. He emphasized the need for "immediate and serious action to pressure the aggressor states to end their aggression and lift their blockade completely and unconditionally," as this is the only and inevitable path to any sustainable political solution.
