Sev-parmal served instead of kheer-puri under mid-day meal, 5 get notices
After receiving the video, Ratlam zila panchayat CEO Shringar Shrivastava directed the mid-day meal nodal officer and additional CEO to carry out an immediate inquiry and take necessary action. Following the order, show-cause notices were issued to five individuals associated with the school and the meal preparation, directing them to respond within three days.
The incident occurred on June 24. But, the video surfaced on Tuesday, and reached the district panchayat officials.
In the video, students can be seen eating only sev and parmal, while a few staff members and villagers stand nearby. A voice in the background is heard saying, "Jo ho raha hai, bolte jao, record ho raha hai" (Keep talking, it's all being recorded), suggesting the video was captured by a villager to document the deviation from the prescribed meal.

Based on preliminary findings, notices were issued to school headmistress Vijaya Maida, assistant programme coordinator Vivek Nagar, block academic coordinator Bhupendra Singh Sisodia, and president and secretary of Saraswati Self-Help Group, Shanti Bai and Kamla Bai respectively.
The administration has warned that failure to provide a satisfactory reply will result in disciplinary proceedings under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965. The state govt has fixed menu under the mid-day meal scheme, kheer-puri is compulsory on every Tuesday.

Mangaluru: As a preparatory step for the Fifth Marine Fisheries Census (MFC-2025), the department of fisheries (DoF), ministry of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying, govt of India, launched a nationwide validation and georeferencing of marine fishing villages through ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI). The Mangalore Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI will carry out the process for the coastal districts of Karnataka. This census is undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), with CMFRI serving as the nodal agency for implementation across India. The exercise aims to establish an accurate and updated frame of marine fishing villages across India's coastline and island territories, laying the foundation for household-level enumeration scheduled later in the year. Over the next two weeks, 108 officials from CMFRI and the Fishery Survey of India (FSI) will visit every marine fishing village to verify its status, delineate boundaries, and compile an updated village frame. This exercise will be conducted using VyASNAV (Village-Jetty Appraisal Navigator), a custom-built mobile application developed by CMFRI to enable real-time, geo-referenced data collection. In collaboration with state fisheries departments and local administrative bodies, census teams will assess each village's dependence on marine fishing and allied activities, estimate the number of marine fisher households, and geotag village boundaries. The data will feed into a GIS-enabled MFC dashboard, supported by a robust online backup system and a two-tier supervision framework at district and state levels to ensure data integrity. "The census will generate granular data on socio-economic conditions, livelihood dependencies, and infrastructure gaps, enabling the govt to design targeted interventions for sustainable development of marine fishing communities," added Neetu Kumari Prasad. Grinson George, director of CMFRI, noted that the teams will also identify and shortlist local community members to be trained as enumerators for the household phase.

Water contamination in Janakpuri: NGT asks CPCB to collect fresh samples
New Delhi: After Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) once again found faecal coliform and E. coli in water samples collected from five houses in Janakpuri's A Block, National Green Tribunal pulled up Delhi Jal Board for not taking remedial measures. The tribunal has asked CPCB to collect fresh samples after the local residents claimed that a report from a private laboratory showed a high level of water contamination. The tribunal is hearing a plea based on the grievance of the residents welfare association in A1 Block, Janakpuri, who claimed that they are not receiving fresh drinking water that meets the requisite norms. The tribunal, in an order dated July 16, observed that the report of CPCB clearly reflected that a high level of total coliform and E. coli was detected in five samples. "At this stage, it would be worth noting that the tribunal in the previous proceedings dated May 30 took note of the fact that the original application was pending for the last three months and the issue relating to the supply of sewage-mixed water was not remediated by DJB.
