Charlize Theron reveals why she refuses to name 'scumbag' director
The 49-year-old actress previously opened up about an unnamed director she worked with early in her career, and accused him of greeting her in his pyjamas for an audition at his home, before putting "his hands on [her] knees", at which point she left.
Reflecting on why she has never revealed the identity of the director, she told the Call Her Daddy podcast: "I don't want the story to be about him. It's not because I'm protecting him or anything.'
The Old Guard 2 star admitted the director "got nervous" after she initially opened up about the allegations on The Howard Stern Show in 2019.
She said: 'He got nervous for a little bit.
"He heard me tell the story and he knew it was about him, and he wrote me a pretend letter trying to explain his behavior and how I must have misunderstood it, which is classic, isn't it? It's so classic.
"I won't even f****** say your name because you know you're the scumbag. You know it's you. If anybody ever asked me about him, I would be completely honest — and he knows that.
"I kind of like that he's got to be on a hot seat. He doesn't know when it's going to come. I kind of like that a little more.'
Charlize noted that at the time, she "didn't know what the audition process looked like", but she still had a feeling that "this isn't right".
She recalled: "I didn't know how you went about being an actor… [my agency] said there was a casting for this movie and you'll have to go on a Saturday night.
"It was this director's house. The little voice inside me definitely said, 'This isn't right.' But then, the other voice in me says, 'Well, I don't know. Maybe it is right.' '
Meanwhile, Charlize Theron has insisted she instantly knew she was "never going to" be cast in the project.
She added: "I will not let a motherfucker fuck with me any day of the week, but when somebody catches you off guard like that… I was never going to get a part that night.
"I knew it as soon as I left. I wasn't there because I had some value that I was going to bring to his movie. I was only valued for one thing.'

Don't miss out on the headlines from Celebrity Life. Followed categories will be added to My News. Charlize Theron recently had a 'f***ing amazing' hook-up with a 26-year-old. The actress sat down with Alex Cooper for Wednesday's episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she detailed her sex life. 'I just want to say this in perspective,' Theron, 49, prefaced. 'I've probably had three one-night stands in my entire life. But I did just recently f**k a 26-year-old and it was really f***ing amazing.' 'I've never done that,' she continued. 'And I was like, 'Oh, this is great. OK.'' Charlize Theron revealed she recently had a 'f***ing amazing' hook-up with a 26-year-old. The Atomic Blonde star revealed that she 'found this freedom' in her 40s that allowed her to have the sexual encounter, which was very rare for her. 'I don't have many of them, I'm sitting here sounding like I do,' she explained. 'So when I do, I'm like, 'Oh, f**k yeah. I should have done this in my 20s.'' The producer explained that prioritising her sex life is hard as a single mum. 'Who has f***ing time for dates and shaving and waxing and make-up? And I have two children who have to go to school.' Theron told Cooper that when she does want a hook-up, she needs to schedule it accordingly. 'This sh*t's on a timer,' she joked. 'Do you need me to send you a call time? You got two hours. What's happening? 'Cause, like, I need to know.' Theron tends to keep the details of her love life private. She was most recently linked to model Alex Dimitrijevic in May 2023, though she never confirmed the romance herself. 'Charlize and Alex have been dating for a few months now,' a source told Us Weekly at the time, noting that the pair's relationship was 'still in the early stages' but that they 'really like[d] each other.' The pair reportedly broke up in November 2024. The actress had a highly publicised relationship with Sean Penn from 2013 to 2015. After they broke up in 2015, however, the Bombshell star said she had no intention of ever marrying the actor. 'I did not 'almost get married to Sean,' that's such bullsh*t,' she told Howard Stern in 2020. 'No, we dated, that was literally all we did, we dated. It was a relationship, for sure. We were definitely exclusive, but it was for barely a year.' Prior to Penn, Theron dated actors Craig Bierko and Stuart Townsend, along with Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins.
