Chelsea's Mathis Amougou to join sister club Strasbourg in permanent deal
As The Athletic revealed when Amougou completed the switch to Stamford Bridge for around £12.5million in February, he was earmarked to join Strasbourg on a season-long loan in 2025-26.

But the 19-year-old has instead been sold to Chelsea's sister club – also owned by the parent company BlueCo – permanently, with the player having wanted to return to France.
Amougou, who made just two substitute appearances for Chelsea lasting a total of 22 minutes, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 outfit.
He appeared as a late replacement for Moises Caicedo in Chelsea's 4-0 win over last season's basement club Southampton in February and also made a cameo from the bench in the 4-0 win at Legia Warsaw in the Conference League quarter-final first leg.
The France youth international only made his senior debut for Saint-Etienne in January 2024 and established himself as a regular in the first half of the following season before moving to England.
Amougou could soon be joined at Strasbourg by Chelsea under-21 defender Ishe Samuels-Smith.
As The Athletic reported earlier on Thursday, the two clubs are discussing a transfer worth £8m.
Ecuador international Kendry Paez is set to go on loan to the Ligue 1 side for the next campaign, while keeper Mike Penders is also being considered for a loan switch there.

Indianapolis Colts LB Zaire Franklin making training camp debut
Indianapolis Colts' linebacker Zaire Franklin was on the field and warming up prior to Saturday's training camp practice. Franklin has yet to practice during training camp up to this point as he continued to recover from offseason ankle surgery. Earlier in the week, Shane Steichen expressed his optimism that Franklin would be able to return fairly soon. It appears that time has now come. Now, there may still be a ramp-up period for Franklin. Just because he's warming up may not mean that he goes through team drills today. We will have to wait and see what the practice plan is. Franklin is coming off a career year in which he led the NFL in tackles, while also setting career highs in sacks and interceptions. He made his first Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro as well. Being paired with Jaylon Carlies, who brings a coverage element to the position as a former safety, and operating in Lou Anarumo's defensive back-heavy scheme, should all benefit Franklin, who could, as a result, see added opportunities near the line of scrimmage this season, which is where he's at his best. Wolves battling Napoli for signing of Sevilla star
A new suitor have positioned themselves firmly in the race for Sevilla star Juanlu Sánchez. That's according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Wolverhampton Wanderers as the outfit in question. The subject of defender Juanlu's future has of course been a prominent one in the Spanish media headlines across the summer to date. This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 21-year-old had positioned himself front and centre on the transfer wishlist of Italian champions Napoli. With Sevilla in a trying financial situation at present, talks, in turn, had long been kicked into gear between the two clubs. As alluded to above, though, this week, Napoli have been rivalled in their pursuit of Juanlu. As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano: 'Wolves are pushing in talks to sign Juanlu after Napoli have been in negotiations for 1 month. Juanlu has agreed personal terms with Napoli, Wolves are trying with better proposal to Sevilla.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Josh Allen shares similar sentiment to Scottie Scheffler about on-field success: 'You kind of forget about it'
Josh Allen is already over his Most Valuable Player Award. The Buffalo Bills quarterback won the award this past February in a tight race with Lamar Jackson, who was aiming for his second straight and third overall. Allen was emotional that night, but apparently it was a one-night celebration. In a recent interview with CBS, he was asked what an MVP did for him, and he paused before shrugging and immediately pointing to getting better as a team. "It's such a cool accomplishment in terms of, it's like a career achievement in your field. And that's the cool part about it," Allen continued. "But other than that, it's just an accolade that you… enjoy for the night, and you kind of forget about it. I hear it, the chants, and the crowd loves it. But I'm just trying to find other ways to get better and help this team win football games." That sounded a tad like what Scottie Scheffler said prior to the Open Championship (which he won) about being a top golfer not being "fulfilling." Funny enough, Allen brought it up when he was asked whether it was "maddening" that he can play so well, and things don't go his way. "It's maddening. But at the same time, it helps put things in perspective about what really matters in your life, and you figure out what that is fairly quickly," Allen said. "Scottie Scheffler had that really good interview right before The Open that spoke a lot to me, and I really appreciate him sharing those words. "It's kind of crazy where you're coming out here and doing everything you can for a quick enjoyment of it, and then you're on to the next. It's like the MVP Award. I don't look back and think about that night. It happened, and it was over with, and I'll never think about it again, to be honest. I'm so moved on to trying to help this team win football games this year." Scheffler's comments drummed up a ton of conversation. "This is not a fulfilling life. It's fulfilling from the sense of accomplishment, but it's not fulfilling from a sense of the deepest places of your heart," Scheffler said. Perhaps Allen may feel differently if he finally gets a Super Bowl ring. His next quest for it will begin on Sept. 7.
