Drivers have new option for gas as Sheetz opens new location

News Center 7's Xavier Hershovitz is on Pump Patrol today. He is previewing the grand opening of the new Sheetz gas station in West Carrollton this morning on News Center 7 Daybreak from 4:25 a.m. until 7 a.m.

As previously reported by News Center 7, gas prices across the Miami Valley are 16 cents cheaper compared to last week.
Prices range from $3.19 a gallon to $2.57 a gallon, according to gas experts.
Patrick De Haan of Gasbuddy.com says these prices will not last throughout the summer.
'(It) could be today, next couple of days, certainly it'll happen at some point this week,' he said.
The new Sheetz gas station will officially open on South Alex Road in West Carrollton. This will be Sheetz's 10th location in the Dayton area.
Hershovitz says there will be giveaways and prizes, including a $2,500 Sheetz gift card. It could help people fill up their tanks.
'I used to work in Columbus, so driving, I was filling the gas tank a couple of times a week,' said Scott Dennull. 'That's when it was a little higher.'

A 49-year-old Marietta man faces 170 years in prison after he was convicted of fraud. According to court documents, on February 13, 2021, Torjagbo submitted two tax returns to the IRS. Each tax return had a different social security number and date of birth. The counterfeit tax returns showed that Torjagbo had millions of dollars in losses that offset earnings from his African gold mine business, Kremkov Industries, the Department of Justice said. This resulted in the U.S. Treasury issuing a check for $3,366,240.76 to Torjagbo. Court documents revealed that Torjagbo erifited that the company was opened on February 15, 2020. The 38-year-old said he had 493 employees who reside across the U.S., and had an average monthly payroll of nearly $4 million. In March 2021, Torjagbo received $9.6 million in a PPP loan. Officials said he used the PPP loan and tax refund to purchase the following: $1,677,861.01 for his home; $332,999.80 for a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador; $120,799.79 for a 2022 BMW M850xi; $90,520 for a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Velar; $51,000 for the down payment on a 72-foot yacht; Over $1,000,000 for real estate, trucks, and trailers to start a new business; More than $15,000 for plastic surgery. Gas prices rise again in Florida. See the cheapest in your area
Gas prices in Florida are on a yo-yo string. After dipping and soaring over the past several weeks, prices have inched up this week. As of Monday, July 28, the cost of gas is up about 2 cents a gallon in Florida and the Miami area. Prices in South Florida are about 12 cents higher from a month ago but 28 cents lower than a year ago. 'While gas prices may shift from week to week, overall they tend to follow a relatively steady pattern,' said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. 'As long as oil prices remain stable, drivers can expect pump prices to stay within their current range.' North Florida remains the cheapest to get gas in the state. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas. Here's what to know if you're commuting or traveling in Florida: Miami-Dade: The average price: $3.09 on Monday, July 28, a 2-cent increase from last week, according to GasBuddy's survey of nearly 1,700 stations in the region. Cheapest gas in the Miami area is $2.67 and the most expensive $4.35. Fort Lauderdale: $3.11, according to AAA, an increase of 3 cents from last week. Sheetz opens rebuilt Schuylkill Haven store
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — A 'Welcome Back' sign over the entrance greeted customers Friday, opening day of the new Sheetz convenience store on Route 61 and Manheim Road. Customers flocked to get a glimpse of the new 6,130-square-foot store, about 13% larger than the previous store at the same location. Sheetz demolished the old store in February, and replaced it with a ground-up reconfiguration of the original. Not being able to get her morning coffee for six months was a huge inconvenience, said Giamarino, tapping a brew at one of Sheetz Coffeez machines. Truth be known, on occasion she defected to the Rutter's store a few miles south on Route 61. Sheetz did not have a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the new store, though a district manager was onsite. The Altoona-based company considers stores put on the location of a previous store as rebuilds, not new stores. Still, the word got around, and by midmorning Friday the store was busy. Lured by $2.69-a-gallon regular unleaded, the new gas pumps were getting a work out. All of the 10 lanes were busy, and sometimes there was a line of vehicles awaiting service. Hailey Skelly said the store was nice inside, but would have liked a drive-thru. Unlike its renovated store at Route 209 and Gordon Nagle Road, Sheetz did not install a drive-thru at the Schuylkill Haven location. North Manheim Twp. officials ruled that the lot was not big enough to accommodate a drive-thru. Jeni Betancourt would have liked a drive-thru, but she can live without one. What she really wanted was a car wash. 'I'm originally from the Lehigh Valley, and the Sheetz down there has a car wash,' said Betancourt, a Pottsville nurse. No car wash is no deal breaker though, and Betancourt will stop at Sheetz on the way to work as she had before. 'I normally stop in for an MTO and coffee,' she said. 'I'm glad they're open again.' Sheetz stores undergo regular renovations. The Pottsville store was demolished in November 2022 and the new one opened in April 2023.
