He is previewing the grand opening of the new Sheetz gas station in West Carrollton this morning on News Center 7 Daybreak from 4:25 a.m. until 7 a.m. TRENDING STORIES: District reacts to death of recent high school graduate killed in crash Car crashes into Ohio marijuana dispensary, leaving large hole Air Quality Alert in effect for parts of region today As previously reported by News Center 7, gas prices across the Miami Valley are 16 cents cheaper compared to last week. Prices range from $3.19 a gallon to $2.57 a gallon, according to gas experts. Patrick De Haan of says these prices will not last throughout the summer. '(It) could be today, next couple of days, certainly it'll happen at some point this week,' he said. The new Sheetz gas station will officially open on South Alex Road in West Carrollton. This will be Sheetz's 10th location in the Dayton area. Hershovitz says there will be giveaways and prizes, including a $2,500 Sheetz gift card. It could help people fill up their tanks. 'I used to work in Columbus, so driving, I was filling the gas tank a couple of times a week,' said Scott Dennull. 'That's when it was a little higher.' [SIGN UP: WHIO-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]

People said, 'It was tough to watch' when the steeple of a historic Catholic church collapsed from a fire Thursday. >>PHOTOS: Smoke, flames pour from large fire at local Catholic church [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] News Center 7's Xavier Hershovitz is in Mercer County to check out the damage as we work to learn what's next for this church LIVE on News Center 7 Daybreak from 4:25 a.m. until 7 a.m. TRENDING STORIES: 22-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Northern Miami Valley Steeple collapses after fire rips through historic Catholic church District delays high school graduation due to weather Crews were called to the fire at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Maria Stein around 2:30 p.m., according to Joe Hartings, Chickasaw Volunteer Fire Department fire chief. As previously reported by News Center 7, workers on the roof were placing shingles when they saw smoke and called 911, Hartings said. Around 7 p.m., the steeple of the church collapsed. News Center 7's cameras were rolling when the church's steeple crumbled in the flames. Hershovitz said the fire was so massive that help was called from nearly 20 other departments. 'It's definitely hard to just stand and watch, even though there's not much else you can do,' said Brad Spettel. 'It's sad to see it in this condition,' said Kevin Schlater. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati released a statement stating they were 'deeply saddened' by the destruction the fire caused. We are working to learn how much damage the fire caused. Hartung told News Center 7 that while many may just look at the extra days off, he keeps his focus on what Memorial Day truly means.
