Ruru Madrid is nothing short of grateful as he won another acting award for 'Green Bones.'
The Kapuso actor won his third acting award for the film, this time from the Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards or the EDDYs.
Ruru shared a message of gratitude on Instagram, saying, 'Pangatlong biyaya, pero sa bawat pagkilala, laging bago ang pasasalamat.'
'Hindi madaling pagsabayin ang pagiging critically acclaimed at tinangkilik ng masa. Pero ang pelikulang ito ay patunay na kapag totoo ang puso mo sa sining, mararamdaman ito ng bawat manonood.'
Ruru also reflected on how nothing is impossible as long as one has perseverance, love for the craft, and chooses to be a good person in their career and life.
Ruru thanked the EDDYs for the award, and said it was an honor to stand alongside influential artists.
'Mas lalo nitong pinatibay ang panata ko: Ako'y alagad ng sining—at habang naririto ako, patuloy kong ihahayag sa mundo ang galing, kwento, at talento ng Pilipino,' he said.
'Para sa lahat ng naniwala. Para sa lahat ng nagmahal sa pelikula. Para sa bayan,' Ruru added. 'Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino. Tuloy ang kwento.'
'Green Bones' won several at the EDDYs 2025, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Dennis Trillo, Best Director for Zig Dulay, and Best Cinematography for Neil Daza. Dennis and Ruru accepted the Box Office Hero award.
It also bagged several awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens).
Moreover, it won First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig) at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards.
'Green Bones' follows Domingo Zamora (Dennis), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what.
The GMA Pictures film debuted on Netflix in June and immediately climbed to the top spot on the list of Top Movies in the Philippines on its debut week.

JC Alcantara hails Barbie Forteza after ‘P77' collab, hopes to work again with actress

JC Alcantara openly expressed his profound admiration and gratitude for his co-star Barbie Forteza, describing their experience working together on the upcoming film 'P77' as nothing short of a dream job. At the media conference for the horror movie on Tuesday, JC revealed that his admiration for the Kapuso Primetime Princess dates back over a decade. 'Isang karangalan din makatrabaho si Barbie. I'm a fan since 2011,' he said. 'Bata pa lang ako, pinapanood ko na siya. And sobrang grateful ko din. Thankful kasi alam niyo po, sa dinami-daming artista, ako 'yung nabigyan ng chance. Salamat po sa inyo.' The Kapamilya actor admitted to having initial nerves when starting on the project. 'Kinakabahan. Tapos Barbie Forteza pa, ang pangarap kong maka-trabaho,' he said. JC recognized the need to overcome this apprehension to effectively portray his character, Theo, whom he described as a 'mysterious guy from P77.' 'Kailangan hindi ka magpatalo ng kaba kasi horror 'to. So kailangan, matakot ko pa rin siya. Kailangan maparamdam ko pa rin sa kaniya na nandito ako sa character na ito,' he said. His initial jitters quickly gave way to a deeply positive working relationship, with JC finding Barbie to be an absolute joy to work with, even emphasizing her kindness and dedication. 'Sobrang saya katrabaho, sobrang bait, sobrang—makikita mo siya, dedikado siya sa trabaho niya. Nagbabasa siya ng script, nando'n lang siya sa gilid. Ang saya palang katrabaho niya. Ang warm lang,' he said. JC also lauded Barbie's interpersonal skills on set. 'Lahat na nasa paligid talagang bibigyan niya ng pansin kaya ang saya. Sana hindi pa 'to 'yung last,' he added. "P77" is directed by Derick Cabrido, the filmmaker behind the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry "Mallari," and produced by GMA Pictures and Clever Minds Inc. It is written by Enrico Santos, and the story is by Anj Atienza and Xtian Julao. It is coming to cinemas on July 30. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

Lexi Gonzales, Kristoffer Martin share what it's like working with Vina Morales, Gladys Reyes in 'Cruz vs. Cruz'

Lexi Gonzales and Kristoffer Martin are all praises for their "Cruz vs. Cruz" co-stars Vina Morales and Gladys Reyes. The Sparkle stars guested in "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Tuesday where they talked about what it's like working with the two veteran actresses. Kris and Lexi play Jeff and Andrea, the children of Vina's character, Felma. According to Kristoffer, he thought he would be intimidated working with Vina. "Pero hindi, storycon pa lang namin, sobrang approachable po, walang wall," he said. "Siya pa 'yung makikipagusap sa 'yo," he said. "Tapos nanay pa namin, so hindi kami nahirapan. Day one po namin sa taping, hindi kami nahirapan," he added. While Kristoffer has worked with Gladys before, Lexi, for her part, had only been with the veteran actress in their promos for the show. "Si Ms Gladys, sa promos pa lang namin siya nakakasama so for, and other stuff including the show. Wala pa kaming eksena together pero lahat mababait sa set," she said. The two also told Tito Boy that they have not been slapped by Gladys yet. "Nag-r-ready pa lang kami, wino-work out ko pa lang 'yung face ko," Lexi quipped "Ako, iniiwas ko na po 'yung character ko sa character niya. Ako na 'yung nag-a-adjust, hindi ko binabanggit 'yung pangalan," Kristoffer added in jest. "Cruz vs. Cruz" follows the story of the two families of Manuel Cruz (Neil Ryan Sese). He leaves his original family -- Felma and their children --in the Philippines to work abroad and provide for them. However, while there, he meets a woman, Hazel (Gladys), who lures him to marry her after she gets pregnant. "Cruz vs. Cruz" is directed by Gil Tejada and premiered on GMA Afternoon Prime on Monday. Catch it on weekdays at 3:20 p.m. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
