USA Today Network mock draft sends Tennessee Volunteers star to K.C. Chiefs in Round 1
The Kansas City Chiefs won't have any margin for error during the 2025 NFL draft, and one USA Today analyst recently predicted that the reigning AFC champions will make a bold move in the first round.
In a recent USA Today Network mock draft, veteran sports columnist Mike Freeman sent Tennessee Volunteers pass-rusher James Pearce to Kansas City with the No. 31 selection.

Though the Chiefs already have an impressive stable of edge-rushers on their roster, the addition of a promising sack-master like Pearce could help Kansas City earn a fourth-consecutive Super Bowl appearance next season.

Lions trade package that would land Micah Parsons in blockbuster deal with Cowboys
The door is slightly ajar for the Detroit Lions — and 30 other teams — to trade for Dallas Cowboys superstar linebacker, Micah Parsons. On Friday, Parsons took to social media to reveal that he has requested a trade. Before that, a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini and Jon Machota said that Parsons and the Cowboys are no longer talking about a contract extension and that the relationship has been badly damaged. While it remains to be seen if the Cowboys will actually trade Parsons or if this is just another Myles Garrett-Cleveland Browns situation, analysts have already begun firing off possible trade packages for the four-time Pro Bowler. One of those packages comes from Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, who suggested this trade for the Lions. With $51.1 million in cap space, though, the Lions could at least lay the groundwork for those contracts," he adds. That is an absolutely massive package of picks and is probably more than the Lions would actually have to give up. Even still, for a generational talent like Parsons, it would be well worth it for a Lions team eyeing its first Super Bowl. The Lions need more juice in their pass-rush. Davenport is too injury-prone to rely on as support for Aidan Hutchinson, who is coming off a season in which he suffered a significant injury. It's true that the Lions would have to pay both Hutchinson and Parsons enormous contracts, but if there's two players on the same team you can justify paying big money to, it would be those two if they were paired in Detroit. Having Parsons and Hutchinson in the same lineup would give Detroit the most dynamic pass-rushing duo in the NFL and would greatly increase the Lions' chances of winning the Super Bowl. Are there financial concerns with acquiring Parsons down the road? Of course, but with the Lions in win-now mode, trade for generational defensive talent first, ask questions later. Commanders coach on Terry McLaurin trade request: Business as usual
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that he understands the business side of the sport when it comes to wide receiver Terry McLaurin requesting a trade from the team. McLaurin asked for a change of scenery on Thursday given his frustration with the lack of progress in negotiations toward a contract extension. Quinn said McLaurin told him of his plea for a trade before the news became public. "We love Terry. I'm really glad he's here," Quinn said. "Hopefully he's out practicing soon. We also understand there's the business side of this things that (general manager) Adam (Peters) and his side and Terry and his reps are working it through. I just kind of stay in that space. We recognize both are happening. "But like I said, I'm really glad he's here. I love coaching him. But the business side, that's kind of where it's at. It's not -- somebody asked me if it's a distraction -- it is not. Players today, they're more aware of contracts and things maybe than they used to be. They recognize that business part happens, as well, so for the team, we're just rocking and going and throwing some great practices. "For Terry and the trade request, that's part of normal business that is happening around the NFL. It's normal, we understand it, and we just throw our very best practices out on the field." McLaurin, who turns 30 in September, became a hold-in and was placed on the team's physically unable to perform list with an apparent ankle injury suffered last season. He did not attend organized team activities and mandatory minicamp. He did, however, participate in spring workouts. With a base salary of $15.5 million and cap hit of $25.5 million in the final season of a three-year, $68.3 million contract, the speedster is coming off a career year with 1,096 receiving yards, 13 touchdowns and 82 receptions on 117 targets. He added three scores and 227 yards on 14 receptions in three playoff games. McLaurin and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels helped lead Washington to a 12-5 regular-season mark and its best season since it won the Super Bowl in 1991. The Commanders knocked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card round and Detroit Lions in the divisional round before falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. Over six seasons with Washington, the two-time Pro Bowl selection (2022, 2024) has 6,379 receiving yards, 38 touchdowns and 460 catches in 97 games. Tom Brady preaches balance, despite vowing to "give up his life" to win
Earlier this week, I posted a little something on Tom Brady's response to golfer Scottie Scheffler's comments about work-life balance. On Friday's edition of PFT Live, Michael Holley and I took a deeper dive. Holley made a great point. To the extent that Brady tried to justify throwing his own balance out of whack because it sets a good example for his kids regarding how to provide for his family, Brady embarked on the all-work-and-no-play path years before he had his first child. As a rookie in 2000, Brady became obsessed with getting everything he could out of his innate talent, no matter the time or effort required. As Holley was speaking, I remembered something Brady previously said. It came from the Tom vs. Time documentary. And it undercuts, and also guts, any effort to suggest he was in any way attempting to be selfless when it comes to the amount of time devoted to his craft. Said Brady: 'What are you willing to do and what are you willing to give up to be the best you can be? You only have so much energy and the clock ticks on all of us. If you're going to compete against me, you better be willing to give up your life because I'm giving up mine.' Now, take another look at Brady's more recent remarks: 'Scottie said he'd rather be a better father and husband than a good golfer. And my question is: why are those mutually exclusive? Sure, they're different blocks on the pyramid, but they're part of the same pyramid. They're connected!' They're not, based on what Brady said during the latter years of his playing career. You better be willing to give up your life because I'm giving up mine. Brady's work-life balance consisted of throwing out the scale and maniacally pursuing what was always his favorite Super Bowl ring: The next one. And that's fine. That's the choice he made. But he shouldn't pretend two seasons after calling it quits that he was trying to find a sweet spot between work and family. It was work and more work. And more work. And more work. Whatever the consequences may be.
