Man United and Chelsea are dealt huge transfer blow as Victor Osimhen is approached by Saudi giants
Al-Hilal have made a contract offer to in-demand striker Victor Osimhen.
The forward, lit up the Super Lig at Galatasaray last season, scoring 25 goals and providing five assists in 29 games for the Turkish giants.
Osimhen, who has previously been discussed by Manchester United and Chelsea, is currently on loan from Napoli and is set to return to the Italian club this summer, where his contract expires in 2026.
The 26-year-old scored 31 goals in all competitions as he fired Napoli to a first Serie A title in 33 years in the 2022-23 season, and has since been rated as one of Europe's elite frontmen.
However, he was forced to desperately search for a new club in last summer's transfer window after Napoli boss Antonio Conte signed Romelu Lukaku and left Osimhen out of his squad.
Despite reports of a potential move to Chelsea and a host of Saudi sides, no move permanent move materialised.
Chelsea were in a transfer saga with the Nigerian last summer but could not agree on a deal
Last summer, Chelsea legends John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba reached out to the forward to try and talk him into a Stamford Bridge switch.
'I hope that Chelsea fans will finally see him come to the club. I'll make sure I send him those text messages and calls, making sure Chelsea is his top priority,' said Mikel.
'But it seems like he loves the club and wants to come to Chelsea. I'm sure he has all the big clubs wanting to sign him. I think if we can secure his signature it would be fantastic for the club.
'Didier is also speaking to him, sharing his own ideas and what the club means to us. We all want to see Victor come to the club. If it happens, it happens. It's a huge transfer fee, but if we can match it and get him to the club that would be absolutely fantastic.'

Joao Pedro chooses next club after Chelsea and Newcastle transfer offers
Brighton forward Joao Pedro has reportedly chosen his next club after receiving transfer offers from Chelsea and Newcastle United. Pedro has enjoyed two productive seasons on the south coast, scoring 30 goals in all competitions. The 23-year-old has become a key player for Brighton since being signed from Championship side Watford in 2023. Pedro's form has caught the eye of several clubs, with Chelsea and Newcastle already submitting offers to Brighton. Brighton rejected a £50m bid from Newcastle last week before rebuffing a £58m proposal from Chelsea on Saturday. Talks between the clubs are still ongoing with Brighton demanding at least £60m to sell the Brazil international. Newcastle's interest is long-standing but Pedro is currently 'leaning towards a move to Chelsea', according to the Daily Mail. Both Chelsea and Newcastle can offer Pedro Champions League football after they finished fourth and fifth respectively last season. One reason Pedro could be tempted to reject Newcastle in favour of Chelsea is the fact he wants to remain a first-choice striker. There is little chance of the Brazilian displacing one of the best strikers in the world in Alexander Isak, unless of course he leaves St James' Park this summer. A host of clubs are admirers of Isak but he is expected to stay put, with Newcastle valuing him at over £125m. Chelsea have already signed one striker this summer after Liam Delap completed a £30m deal from Ipswich Town. But Pedro could fancy his chances of replacing Delap and Nicolas Jackson in the Chelsea team given the former's inexperience and the latter's underwhelming 2024-25 campaign. Ex-Premier League and Germany midfielder Didi Hamann understands Newcastle's interest in Pedro. 'Joao Pedro would be a smart signing for Newcastle, but it just depends on if he is happy playing back-up, which is a big if,' he said earlier this month. More Trending 'I think he's a very capable player and has done really well for Brighton, but he might see Newcastle and think that eventually he could replace Alexander Isak having already won the fans over by scoring off the bench or whenever he gets his chances. 'If they don't challenge for the Premier League or Champions League next season then Isak might want to leave. 'But Newcastle do need to kick on so it would be a good signing, they need to consolidate after winning a trophy and getting back into the Champions League. 'They need to pick things up because in the Premier League, overall, it was a bit disappointing at times last season.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Enzo Maresca fumes after Chelsea suffer major injury blow at Club World Cup
Chelsea have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup but appear to have lost a player to injury following the 4-1 win over Benfica. The Blues were cruising to victory on Saturday night after Reece James put them ahead with a sublime free-kick, only for the game to be suspended in the 86th minute due to adverse weather conditions. After a two-hour delay the match resumed, only for Benfica to win a last minute penalty which Angel di Maria converted to send the match to extra-time. But after Gianluca Prestianni was sent off, Chelsea ran riot with goals from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall securing the win. They'll face Brazilian side Palmeiras in the last-eight but will have to do so without Benoit Badiashile who appears to have picked up a nasty injury. The centre-back was subbed off after 70 minutes after going down seemingly with cramp and was replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo. However, as players left the Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, Badiashile was pictured on crutches, suggesting a more serious injury has occurred. The 24-year-old has missed 40 games through injury since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2023 for around £32m, with his future at the club uncertain. While Enzo Maresca likes the defender, reports from France claim that Marseille are interested in signing him this summer but this injury could now scupper any transfer plans. Weather conditions in America, including severe thunderstorms and extreme heat, have been constant issues at the Club World Cup, with Chelsea vs Benfica the sixth match to be halted because of it. Players and managers have also criticised the poor condition of the pitches, while Maresca unleashed a furious rant following Saturday's game that didn't finish until the early hours of Sunday morning. 'The game was very good for 85 minutes. Then we had an hour and a half, two-hour stop,' the head coach fumed. More Trending 'Then it started completely different. It's not the same game. It's not the same game because you break the tempo. 'So two hours inside; people speak with the family outside, if they were good, the security. People eating, people laughing, people talking on the mobile. It's two hours. That's why I said it's not football. 'It's something that you struggle to understand. But we tried to go out, continue in the same way, knowing that it was difficult. 'It's not random that for 85 minutes, we didn't concede nothing and then for five minutes, we conceded a few chances. Why? It's because it started a completely different game. It's not normal. It's not football.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. It's a joke – Enzo Maresca unhappy at long delay in Chelsea-Benfica tie
The tie took almost five hours to complete after the teams were forced inside, with the Blues 1-0 up with four minutes remaining thanks to Reece James' free-kick, due to 'the risk of lightning in the vicinity of Bank of America Stadium'. On the resumption, Angel Di Maria equalised with a controversial stoppage-time penalty to take the game to extra time, only for Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to seal Chelsea's win. Game started Saturday and ended Sunday 🤣 — Trevoh Chalobah (@TrevohChalobah) June 29, 2025 Maresca, in his press conference, said of the long delay: 'I think it's a joke, to be honest. 'It's not football, it's completely something new, I struggle to understand. 'I can understand if it's security reasons but if you suspend seven or eight games then it's probably not the right place to do the competition. 'It's not normal to suspend the game. In a World Cup, how many games are suspended? Zero probably. In Europe how many games get suspended? Zero. 'We've been here two weeks and they've already suspended six or seven games, there is some problems for me personally. Meanwhile, in the dressing room. — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) June 28, 2025 'I'm talking as a manager because when you're two hours inside and you have to try to keep them (the players) in the game, they're speaking to their families outside for safety reasons, they're eating, they're playing, they're laughing, how can you keep them inside focused for two hours? It's a joke.' One of Maresca's players at least was able to make light of the delay, which saw the game finish at 1.40am UK time, with defender Trevoh Chalobah posting on social media: 'Game started Saturday and ended Sunday'. Players were pictured riding exercise bikes and kicking balls in the dressing room during the enforced break and Maresca told broadcaster DAZN: 'Especially when it's 85 minutes, five minutes to go, it's very difficult. 🚲⏳ — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) June 28, 2025 'But we tried to keep them in the best way we could in that moment and, at the end, we are in the last eight teams here in this competition and we are very happy.' Gianluca Prestianni saw red for Bruno Lage's men in extra time for a second yellow card as Chelsea booked their place against Palmeiras in the quarter-finals. The Blues could now come up against Palmeiras' Stamford Bridge-bound Estevao Willian, whose side defeated fellow Brazilian club Botafogo on Saturday.
