Xavier will host Missouri State as part of 2025-26 non-conference basketball schedule
Xavier men's basketball's non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 campaign is nearing completion after a social media report from Alex Rosinski on June 24 that the Musketeers will host Missouri State at Cintas Center on Dec. 12.
Xavier now has eight non-conference games scheduled with three more to be announced soon.

Missouri State, which competes in the Missouri Valley Conference, finished 9-23 last season under first-year head coach Cuonzo Martin, who is in his second stint with the school after coaching the Bears from 2008-2011.

Martin took Tennessee (2014), California (2016) and Missouri (2021) to the NCAA Tournament before returning to Missouri State in 2024.
Five of Xavier's 18 regular-season games at Cintas Center have now been revealed. There will be three more non-conference home affairs for the Musketeers this fall, plus 10 games against Big East foes.

Xavier opens the season on Nov. 3 against Marist and hosts Santa Clara a week later. Xavier will host Cincinnati in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout on Dec. 5.

Away from home, Xavier will visit Iowa to begin a home-and-home series in November. The Musketeers will also play two games in the Charleston Classic in November with Clemson, Georgia and West Virginia in the bracket.

Penn State basketball welcomes veteran forward transfer
Penn State basketball has officially added a new player to the roster for the 2025-26 season. On Saturday, the school officially announced the addition of Saša Ciani, who previously played college basketball with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and Xavier. Ciani is coming off his sophomore season with UIC, where he played in 27 games and started 21 games. In that playing time, Ciani averaged 9.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. He ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference with his rebounds per game. As a freshman, Ciani played in 31 games for Xavier, including five starts. Prior to beginning his college basketball career, Ciani played in the ABA League in Slovenia. The Slovenia native averaged 11.1 points per game and played in the U-20 European Championships in 2022. He also appeared on the Slovenian National Team in an exhibition in the 2023 FIBA World Cup European qualifiers, where he was a teammate of Luka Dončić. Iowa basketball transfer Bennett Stirtz among early ESPN 2026 NBA draft mock
With the 2025 NBA Draft in the rearview mirror, it's never too early to look ahead to the 2026 draft and the potential that an Iowa Hawkeye is drafted. With new head coach Ben McCollum and a slew of new players, it looks like Hawkeye fans will be treated to an electric year at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. And according to ESPN NBA draft insiders Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo, Iowa fans may get to see a future NBA first-round pick this season. Givony and Woo released their early 2026 NBA mock draft on Friday and a new Hawk made his way onto the list: Bennett Stirtz. If drafted, he would become only the eighth Hawkeye since 2000 to hear his name called during the NBA Draft. Stirtz had begun trending upward in a real way with NBA scouts in March, where he played well in the NCAA tournament and drew first-round buzz. Considering the momentum he built, it was a surprise to see him completely forgo the predraft process this spring. Instead, Stirtz will follow Ben McCollum, his coach at Drake and Division II Northwest Missouri State before that, to Iowa, where he will have the keys to the offense and a platform to further prove himself in the Big Ten. He's a terrific playmaker who figures to be among the top guards in the country. - Woo, ESPN Stirtz's story has become very well known over the past few months, as he's followed McCollum from Northwest Missouri State to Drake and now to Iowa. Last season at Drake, Stirtz averaged 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game on his way to winning the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. He helped lead the Bulldogs to 31 wins and their first NCAA Tournament win since 1971. He joins an Iowa basketball roster that's a complete overhaul from the one that missed the NCAA Tournament last season, with only Cooper Koch and Jacob Koch returning. In a highly competitive Big Ten, Stirtz will look to help lead the Hawkeyes back to the NCAA Tournament and past the first weekend for the first time in over 25 years. And in doing so, he could establish himself as an NBA first-round talent. Here's every transfer to commit to LSU baseball after College World Series title
Fresh off winning the eighth national championship in program history, LSU baseball went right back to work. Head coach Jay Johnson worked the transfer portal during the title run and ramped up recruiting efforts in the days following his second championship in Baton Rouge. The Tigers lose major contributors from the 2025 squad, including NCAA strikeouts leader Kade Anderson, as well as everyday infielders Daniel Dickinson and Jared Jones. The trio, along with right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson, are off the MLB Draft. Johnson returns key pieces to the team next year, including stalwart bullpen pitchers Casan Evans and Chase Shores. Zac Cowan is also expected to return for a fourth collegiate season, and all three are expected to compete for starting rotation spots. Johnson's staff stuck to its aggressive portal strategy from last season, which yielded Eyanson and Chris Stanfield. He's looking for the same high-level results from this year's haul. Here are the four players who committed to LSU so far in 2025. Danny Lachenmayer A left-handed reliever, Lachenmayer is coming off a standout season at North Dakota State. Through 38 innings, he posted a 2.37 ERA, 56 strikeouts and nine saves. He allowed just 10 earned runs as the Bison made a run to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. LSU's pitching rotation will experience shakeups with the departures of Anderson and Eyanson. Lachenmayer performed well in high-leverage situations and will compete for important innings. Seth Dardar Dardar adds 95 games of collegiate experience to a depleted LSU infield. The Mandeville, LA native spent two seasons at Columbia and one at Kansas State. In an early-season meeting against the Tigers in 2025, Dardar recorded two hits, including a home run. Over his career, Dardar boasts a .309 batting average, .409 on-base percentage and .592 slugging percentage. He finished 2025 with 60 hits, a year removed from a season-long injury. Brayden Simpson Simpson marked the first portal addition to LSU's 2026 roster. A rising senior, the third baseman fills an immediate need for the Tigers as Michael Braswell is out of eligibility, while also bringing a big bat at the plate. In 2025 at High Point, Simpson batted .389 with a .477 on-base percentage, 91 hits, 77 RBI and 22 home runs. He was named to the All-Big South first-team honors and finished No. 10 on D1 Baseball's Top 50 third basemen rankings. Ryler Smart Smart stayed in the SEC, coming over from Tennessee. As a true freshman in 2025, he didn't see any action, but he came in as a top-200 prospect, according to Perfect Game. The 2024 cycle's No. 183 overall player and No. 25 left-handed pitcher, Smart hails from Pearland, TX. The six-foot-four, 236-pounder provides a solid frame and a year of observing the country's best players to LSU pitching coach Nate Yeskie.
