David Benavidez set to defend WBC light heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde in November
Benavidez is scheduled to make the first defense of his WBC light heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde on a Riyadh Season card in November, Turki Alalshikh confirmed Thursday.

"The Monster" was in advanced negotiations for a fight with WBO interim champion Callum Smith, but those talks ultimately failed, and so a deal with Yarde was finalized instead. While Yarde is in the top 10 at 175 pounds, a fight between Benavidez and Smith would've seen the consensus Nos. 3 and 4 fighters in the division pitted against each other.
Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) twice held the WBC super middleweight title between 2017-20, but lost it outside the ring on both occasions. In 2023, Benavidez proved himself to be a formidable challenger for undisputed champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez by beating Caleb Plant and Demetrius Andrade. But with Alvarez uninterested in facing Benavidez, the latter was forced to move up to light heavyweight.
After picking up the WBC interim title against Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June 2024, Benavidez had to get off the floor to defeat the WBA (Regular) champion David Morrell in a thriller in February. Now that Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are expected to fight for a third time, Benavidez has to once again wait his turn.
With Benavidez's next fight scheduled for a Riyadh Season show, which hosted the two Beterbiev-Bivol fights, the chances of seeing the winner of the trilogy face Benavidez have increased substantially.

Yarde (27-3, 24 KOs) is a former two-time light heavyweight title challenger. The Brit was stopped in both championship attempts: by Sergey Kovalev in 2019 and by Beterbiev in 2023. Yarde was last in action when he edged Lyndon Arthur to lead their rivalry, 2-1.
Alalshikh announced Sunday that Brian Norman Jr. would defend his WBO welterweight title against two-division world champion Devin Haney on a Riyadh Season card in November. Both Benavidez vs. Yarde and Haney vs. Norman are expected to take place on the same card.

Catterall vs Eubank: Date, fight time, undercard, prediction, ring walks and odds
Jack Catterall and Harlem Eubank clash in an all-British welterweight showdown in Manchester this weekend. Catterall is seeking a swift return to winning ways after being edged out by Arnold Barboza Jr in a gutting split-decision loss back in February which wrecked his world title hopes for the time being. That halted 'El Gato's' significant momentum after he had beaten veteran warrior Jorge Linares and successfully avenged his hugely controversial first career loss to Josh Taylor that saw him miss out on undisputed status at super-lightweight in the most contentious fashion, also defeating two-time world champion Regis Prograis. It was American Barboza Jr who ended up claiming the interim WBO title in a final eliminator at 140 pounds, earning a shot at full champion Teofimo Lopez, losing on points in New York in May. Catterall vowed to respond quickly but there was plenty of surprise when he moved up to take a fight against Eubank, the nephew of Chris Eubank Sr and cousin of Chris Eubank Jr who is still unbeaten at 21-0 but faces a huge step up on Saturday night. He was last in action in March in his hometown of Brighton, stopping Northern Ireland's Tyrone McKenna in the 10th round to claim the IBF Inter-continental welterweight title. Catterall vs Eubank takes place on Saturday July 5, 2025 at the AO Arena in Manchester. The main undercard action begins at 7pm BST, with earlier fights broadcast from 5pm. Catterall and Eubank are expected to ring walk at approximately 10pm. TV channel and live stream: The event is being shown live on DAZN, with coverage of the prelims beginning at 5pm and the main card from 7pm. Saturday's undercard sees the return of Joe Cordina, who fights for the first time since losing his IBF super-featherweight title to Anthony Cacace and seeing his scheduled challenge of dominant WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson in Riyadh cancelled. Jack Catterall vs Harlem Eubank Joe Cordina vs Jaret Gonzalez Leo Atang vs Milen Paunov Aqib Fiaz vs Alex Murphy Pat Brown vs Lewis Oakford William Crolla vs Fraser Wilkinson Skye Nicolson vs Carla Gonzales Alfie Middlemiss vs Mohammed Wako Niall Brown vs Victor Ionascu It was a bit of a shock to see Catterall accept this fight, having competed at a higher level against the likes of Josh Taylor, Jorge Linares, Regis Prograis and Arnold Barboza Jr over recent years. But 'El Gato' is looking to bounce back quickly with a statement win to follow a disappointing loss, as he did against Darragh Foley following that first controversial bout with Taylor. Eubank is certainly no pushover and remains unbeaten, but has never fought above domestic level and this represents a significant step up from anything he has faced before. Catterall is without a knockout win since 2019 and quick stoppages are not really his style, but he'll be under pressure to achieve victory in emphatic fashion here. We expect him to dominate from the outset and likely score a couple of knockdowns, but eventually win comfortably on the cards. Catterall to win by unanimous decision. The weigh-ins for Saturday night's event take place on Friday at 6pm. Check back in then to see the results. Catterall to win: 3/10 Eubank to win: 13/5 Draw: 16/1 Catterall to win on points or by decision: 4/7 Catterall to win by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification: 9/2 Eubank to win on points or by decision: 4/1 Eubank to win by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification: 15/2 Odds via Betfair (subject to change).

Winger Gray returns to first club Birmingham
Demarai Gray has 27 caps for Jamaica and has spent the last two seasons at Saudi side Al-Ettifaq [Getty Images] Demarai Gray has returned to Birmingham City on a three-year contract. The Jamaica international winger has been with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq for the last two seasons but has joined the newly-promoted Blues for an undisclosed fee. Advertisement The Birmingham-born player made his senior debut for his hometown club as a 17-year-old in 2013 and played 78 games before joining Leicester City in 2016. He helped the Foxes win the Premier League title in his first season and also won England Under-21 honours before opting to play senior international football for Jamaica. After five years with Leicester, Gray had a six-month spell with Bayer Leverkusen and two seasons with Everton before joining Al-Ettifaq in September 2023. "To be back here now means a lot and having tasted success a bit throughout my career, I'm hungry and I really want to do it here with Birmingham and try and help the team get back to where we belong," Gray told the Blues website. Advertisement "It's something I've wanted for a long time. Seeing some old faces is always nice, to be back around the stadium brought back a lot of feelings and I can't wait to get going now, get back in front of the fans and see where this season can take us. "It's different to just signing for another club. For me to have the opportunity to come back home, be around my family, watch my son grow up, him being able to watch me play games, at the club I started at, makes sense. "Especially at the point of my career now, it's perfect. I'm happy, I'm excited, and I want to win things and be successful here in front of my family."
