Sterling Sharpe wanted news of ESPN exit to hold until after Sterling entered Hall of Fame
Via Andrew Battifarano of the New York Post, Sharpe addressed the situation on the latest episode of his Nightcap podcast.
'I found out this information a little earlier in the week, and really the only thing that I really asked is, 'Guys, could we wait until Monday? My brother's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I really want it to be about him and I want it to be about my family,' Sharpe said. 'I said, 'This coming out will overshadow everything he's worked his entire life for.' And, unfortunately, it didn't happen that way.'
It means that the leak more likely came from ESPN's side of the equation.
'I really enjoyed my time at ESPN, they gave me an opportunity to bring my audience that saw me really just grow,' Sharpe added. 'They did what they felt they needed to do. I'm at peace with that. I just wish this thing could've waited until Monday because I hate the fact that I am overshadowing my brother. First two brothers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and this is what the headline is going to be for the next couple of days.'
Maybe it will fade. We tend to have goldfish brains when it comes to the non-stop flow of news and information. Tonight, the NFL returns. By Saturday, the fact that Shannon is out at ESPN will fade into the same general background noise coming from the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him in April, and its more recent settlement.
Shannon Sharpe stepped away from his ESPN work days after the complaint was filed. At the time, he expressed an intention to return when the NFL preseason commences.
Sterling Sharpe gets his call to Canton after playing only seven NFL seasons. Despite having his career cut short due to injury, he did enough to finally earn a spot with his brother and the other all-time greats.

Sophomore wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. is now on the Paul Hornung Award Watchlist, following his record-setting freshman year. The award is in honor of football Hall of Famer Paul Hornung and is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) to the most versatile player in college football. Hornung tore up the field both in college and on the professional level, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1956 and becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 1957 NFL Draft. He played in almost every position at Notre Dame, including quarterback, running back, punter, kicker, defensive back, and returner. Hornung continued his versatile career with the Green Bay Packers, serving as a multi-threat offensive back and a prolific kicker. He helped the Packers to four NFL championships, led the league in scoring for three years straight, set the single-season scoring record in 1960 with 176 points, and was named league MVP in 1961. Barney played in all 13 games for Nebraska as a true freshman, starting in four of them. He tied a school record for the most receptions by a Nebraska freshman, hauling in 55 passes for 447 yards. Barney also racked up 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns off 10 carries and returned 14 kickoffs for 285 yards. This helped Barney finish second on the team with 842 all-purpose yards. He ranked third nationally among all FBS freshmen in receptions. What a potential trade package for Micah Parsons would look like for Bears
The Chicago Bears should be all in on Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons. This is what the trade may look like. Dallas Cowboys star defender Micah Parsons made headlines when he requested a trade from the organization on Friday after contract negotiation issues. Feeling frustrated and angry with the Cowboys, Parsons wants out. Every team in the NFL is going to make the phone call to inquire about his potential availability (even if Dallas isn't actively looking to move him), but this is a move that truly makes sense for the Chicago Bears as they desperately need pass-rushing help opposite of Montez Sweat. If general manager Ryan Poles and the Bears were to pull off a move like this, what would it cost them? There are a lot of interesting possibilities in terms of what a package to acquire Parsons would look like. Micah Parsons potential trade package (Bears-Cowboys) To land Parsons, the Bears would likely have to give up a little bit more than they did to acquire Khalil Mack back in 2018. In that deal, they traded two first-round picks, a third, and a sixth rounder to get Mack. Parsons is better, and one year younger, than Mack was at the time of that trade. Parsons is one of two players in NFL history (along with Reggie White) to have 12-plus sacks in each of his first four NFL seasons. Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen would have a field day inserting Parsons into the lineup opposite Sweat as a pass rusher. With a great secondary and competent linebackers that the Bears have behind them, this could be a dominant defense right away. If the offense turns into the unit that everybody believes they could become under head coach Ben Johnson, that would make for a really solid football team. Trading tight end Cole Kmet, in addition to all of those draft picks, would be tough, but you have to give up good assets to bring in elite talent. Kmet will play a big role with the Bears in 2025, if he isn't traded, but he's no longer the primary focus at tight end with first-round rookie Colston Loveland coming into the fold. Also, sending away that much draft capital in the coming years is always a tough decision, but icah Parsons is one of the 20 or so players in the NFL that you move mountains to acquire. They won't miss those draft picks much if he comes to Chicago and continues dominating the way that he has in recent years with Dallas. You can trade out a pick here or there, you can use a different high-end player instead of Kmet, but you are going to pay a hefty price in a deal like this. And while many believe that Jalen Hurts' success has just been a beneficiary of Barkley's dominance, Winston had flowers for Jalen, too. In total, Barkley led the NFL with 2,283 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns. He was nearly named the league's MVP. As for Hurts, he went from having a quietly productive regular season to breaking out in the playoffs. The Eagles' quarterback completed 71 percent of his passes for 726 yards and five touchdowns.
