Govt forms Gadchiroli District Mining Authority

The ordinance, issued in the absence of the state legislature being in session, will be followed by a formal bill in the monsoon session beginning June 30. The ordinance aims to streamline administrative mechanisms, speed up the operationalisation of approved mining leases, and help transform Gadchiroli into an industrial hub while creating local employment opportunities.
The authority will act as a catalyst for mining operations and enhance revenue of the state. The step follows the state cabinet's nod on April 1 and Fadnavis's announcement in the legislature of making Gadchiroli a "steel city" and "Naxal-free" within three years.
As per the Gadchiroli District Mining Authority Ordinance, 2025, the body will coordinate and supervise orderly and rapid development of mineral-bearing zones in the district.
It will also execute development plans, projects, and schemes in the area.
The ordinance notes that Gadchiroli is endowed with valuable mineral resources such as iron ore, hematite, magnetite, banded hematite quartzite, limestone, dolomite, and coal — raw materials vital for various industries, especially steel manufacturing.

That apart, he inaugurated the Rs 1,130 crore four-lane Garhwa bypass road measuring 22.73 km on NH-75 under the Ranchi-Varanasi economic corridor. With the construction of the by-pass road from to Khajuri village (Garhwa district), the residents heaved a sigh of relief. The by-pass from Shankha village (Palamu district) to Khajuri village (Garhwa district) links about two dozen villages in Palamu and Garhwa. He also sanctioned Garhwa-Ambikapur four-lane road and few other projects worth around Rs 2,460 crore in Garhwa district. In Ranchi, too, he gave his approval to outer ring road project and widening of Ranchi-Muri Road. "More projects worth Rs 75,000 crore are in the offing, under various stages," he said. Setting timelines for a few ongoing projects, he said that the Rs 36,000-crore Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata corridor will be over by March 2028. A six lane between Delhi-Kolkata estimated around Rs 31,700-crore will be completed by June 2026 and Ranchi-Patna four-lane economic corridor worth Rs 8,900 crore is eyeing December 2029 deadline. Gadkari advised the minister to get an official order passed from the govt and he will help in building over 1,000 ponds through NHAI free of cost like he did in Vidharbha (Maharashtra) to tide over water crisis in farm dominated areas.

30 New E-Buses Remain Idle As Charging Infra Not Ready
1 2 3 Nagpur: Even as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has inducted 30 new air-conditioned electric buses into its Aapli Bus fleet on June 22 with much fanfare in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, the vehicles remain idle due to absence of charging infrastructure. These buses are part of the long-pending 250 e-bus project sanctioned by Fadnavis in 2023. Though delivered by Hansa Vahan India Pvt Ltd, which is implementing the project in partnership with Pune-based EKA Mobility, the firm's permanent charging depot at Wathoda is still under construction and will take another four to six months to become operational. To avoid further delay in deploying the new buses, the firm has approached existing Aapli Bus operators — EV Trans and PMI Electro Mobility — for temporary access to at least three charging points each at either their Wadi or Lakadganj depots. NMC has also temporarily allotted space at Matrushakti E-Depot in Lakadganj for setting up provisional charging stations. The arrival of these 30 e-buses increases Nagpur's electric bus fleet from 230 to 260, and the overall Aapli Bus fleet to 539, including 150 midi buses, 45 mini buses, and 237 standard diesel buses procured under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme. The goal is to gradually replace the ageing fleet with zero-emission alternatives. The Rs550 crore electric bus project faced multiple delays on account of several factors, including the enforcement of model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. The project gained traction only in 2024 after NMC awarded the contract to Hansa Vahan. In addition, NMC expects the first batch of 150 e-buses under Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa scheme to arrive next month and has sent a proposal for another 240 e-buses. "We aim to fully electrify the city's public transport fleet by 2029," a senior official said.

Fadnavis reviews works of various 'Mahapreet' projects
Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today directed that the subsidiary of Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (Mahapreet) should prioritise and complete long-term projects considering future challenges. A review of various projects of Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (Mahapreet), which comes under the Mahatma Phule Backward Classes Development Corporation of the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, was held at Vidhan Bhavan under the chairmanship Fadnavis. In today's meeting, he reviewed projects like Thane Cluster Development Project, Software Technology and Data Centre Project, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana under Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation, Slum Rehabilitation Project, Rooftop Solar Project for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Solar/Hybrid Project with NTPC Green, Solar Power Project to be set up in joint partnership of NTPC Green, NIRL, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), District Cooling System Project, Setting up of Solar Project in the premises of National Cancer Institute in Nagpur, Establishment of Integrated Command and Control Centre for Pune Municipal Corporation, Redevelopment of Mahalaxmi Temple and surrounding areas and others. Fadnavis also directed that slum rehabilitation projects should be completed at a fast pace.
