Google Calendar is finally available on your Apple Watch — here's how to set it up
While Google Maps has been available on the Apple Watch for a while, there's now finally a watchOS-compatible Google Calendar app available in the Apple App Store. Unfortunately, while Google Calendar is arriving on the Apple Watch, the beloved note-taking app Google Keep is leaving.
Back to Google Calendar: I just installed it and synced my upcoming week's worth of meetings, events, and more to my wrist in five simple steps. Follow along, and you too will have Google Calendar on your Apple Watch in no time.
Head to the app store on your Apple Watch. Tap the magnifying glass icon in the upper left corner. Search 'Google Calendar' either by typing, writing or speaking. To change the method, tap the microphone icon at the bottom right.
Once your search query is entered, tap Search in the upper right corner. When the Google Calendar app appears, tap Get. You'll then be prompted to double-click the watch's side button to confirm your download.
Next, enter your Apple Account password. This will begin the download process, which should only take a few seconds. Once downloaded, tap Open to launch the app.
You'll then be prompted to open the Google Calendar app on your iPhone. If you're having trouble navigating past the prompt, try closing both apps before opening them again.
Still having issues? Make sure the Google Calendar app on your iPhone is up to date. Also, open your iPhone's Watch app and double-check that your Apple Watch is properly synced.
Once properly synced, you'll be able to see summaries of your upcoming events by scrolling up and down or turning the digital crown. This includes the event name, time window and location.
Tapping on a summary reveals additional details; however, there's no way to edit or add an event using the watchOS version of Google Calendar. For that, you'll need to head back to your iPhone.
One notable limitation of the Google Calendar app on Apple Watch is that you can only view seven days out. Even so, the ability to view my most immediate upcoming events via a glance at the wrist via Google Calendar is a welcome Apple Watch upgrade.

300 India-based Chinese workers in Apple's Foxconn facility ordered home
July 2 (UPI) -- Apple's largest iPhone producer has reportedly ordered hundreds of its India-based Chinese workers to return to their native China but for unspecified reasons. Foxconn, which manufactures more than 70% of Apple's iPhones, told more than 300 Chinese employees to end work at Foxconn's factory in India and to return home, Bloomberg first reported Wednesday. The loss accounts for a significant number of Foxconn's iPhone facility staff in India with support remaining only from workers via Taiwan. According to Bloomberg, why the order was given was unclear, but Chinese officials allegedly had been requesting that government regulators curb knowledge and technological resources away from India to preserve China's weighty manufacturing abilities. That report went on to cite an unspecific source saying Foxconn for nearly the last two months had been ordering Chinese workers back. Apple's action comes as its partners and Foxconn have boosted iPhone production in India as it seeks to scale back reliance on China. Currently, India makes one-fifth of global iPhone output. A $435 million investment by Foxconn for a semiconductor plant in India got the go-ahead in May by Indian government officials. In May 2023, Foxconn officials broke ground on its new $500 million Indian manufacturing facility in Telangana, on 196 acres outside the city of Hyderabad in south-central India that was expected to create at least 25,000 jobs. Apple CEO Tim Cook, meanwhile, has indicated that Apple will import more iPhones via India as one avenue to manage the ongoing uncertainties of U.S. tariff and other trade policies. In February, Apple announced its $500 billion four-year-investment to expand its U.S. facilities. Apple had a goal to produce by late next year the large part of American-bound iPhones in India, but may see delays with Foxconn starting mass production of the iPhone17. Apple's India Strategy Shaken as China Strikes Back
Foxconn has quietly pulled back hundreds of Chinese engineers from its iPhone plants in southern Indiaa move that could throw a wrench into Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) fast-tracked diversification plans. More than 300 workers have already flown home over the past two months, according to people familiar with the matter, leaving mostly Taiwanese support staff on the ground. While Apple and Foxconn have stayed silent, insiders say this recall could slow the ramp-up of local manufacturing expertise and raise operating costs. The timing couldn't be trickier: Apple is gearing up to scale production of the iPhone 17, and Foxconn is still building a new plant in the region. This retrenchment comes as Beijing steps up pressure to keep high-value technology and skilled labor inside China. Indiaand other Southeast Asian nations like Vietnamhave been actively courting global tech giants amid US-China tensions, aiming to grab a bigger piece of the global supply chain. But China's response has been just as swift, tightening controls on labor mobility, tech transfers, and rare earth exports.
