Rennes – Brassier's formative club – were looking to freshen up their ailing defense with an experienced Ligue 1 centre-back given how poorly Leo Ostigard and Hans Hateboer have performed since they joined Les Rouge et Noir last summer. Brassier has undertaken his medical this Friday and could make his debut with Rennes this Sunday against RC Strasbourg. He is the fourth player to join Rennes this winter transfer window after Seko Fofana, Brice Samba and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Garcia makes Tour de France Femmes history at 41
Mavi Garcia's aggressive approach paid off as the Spaniard became the oldest stage winner of the Tour de France Femmes. The Liv-AlUla-Jayco cyclist boldly opted for a solo break with 10km remaining and opened up a gap of around 20 seconds to the chasing peloton. Garcia held her nerve through the final climb of the 110.4km between Brest and Quimper to seal the first stage victory of her career. At 41 years, six months and 25 days, Garcia is the oldest competitor on this year's Tour and her feat surpassed Annemiek van Vleuten's record - set in 2022 when she was 39 - as the event's oldest stage winner. Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes finished second, while Kim Le Court Pienaar of Mauritius took third place and the overall leader's yellow jersey from Marianne Vos. Tour de France Femmes: Mavi Garcia holds on to win stage two as Le Court moves into yellow jersey
Liv AlUla Jayco's Mavi Garcia — the oldest rider in the race — won the second stage of the Tour de France Femmes on Sunday, with Kim le Court moving into the yellow jersey. Garcia, 41, opened up a ten-second gap on the rest of the riders only nine kilometres from the finish and managed to hold on over the final climb as the general classification favourites chased her down. Advertisement Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx-Protime) came in second and Kim le Court (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished in third, enough to take the yellow jersey — for the fastest overall time so far — from Marianne Vos (Team Visma Lease-A-Bike). Sunday's results didn't change the other classifications as Vos held on to the green jersey for the points classification while Elise Chabbey (FDJ-Suez) kept the polka dot jersey for the mountains classification and Julie Bego (Cofidis) kept the white jersey for the youth classification. The second stage of the women's Tour was another hilly route, spanning 110km between Brest and Quimper. A breakaway formed early on in the stage but was caught by the peloton with 12km to go. Dutch sprinter Charlotte Kool (Picnic PostNL) withdrew from the Tour ahead of Sunday's stage after her body did not react well in following a crash in the Baloise Ladies Tour around a week ago. Stage three on Monday will be a flat stage, favouring the pure sprinters, and will take the race from La Gacilly to Angers.

OM: De Zerbi speaks out on Aubameyang's comeback!
Former Qadsia SC striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the verge of making his return to Olympique de Marseille, just one season after his departure. The 36-year-old Gabonese forward turned down several highly lucrative offers from the Roshn League, preferring to return to a familiar environment at the French club that holds a special place in his heart. Although the club has yet to make the deal official, all signs point to an imminent transfer. On Friday, a photo of Aubameyang in training gear wearing the Marseille shirt made the rounds, boosting supporters' confidence that his comeback is just around the corner.
