See the moment AFL legend turned radio star Brendan Fevola gets into a fight with three rivals in footy grudge match

Daily Mail3 days ago
Carlton great Brendan Fevola has been filmed in a nasty brawl with two rival footballers as he played for a struggling South Australian club on Sunday.
The 44-year-old ran out for South Whyalla and kicked two goals to play a big role in the club's two-point win over bitter rivals Central Whyalla - but got into a heated melee in the fourth quarter of the match.
Fevola was in a confrontation with two opposition players when a third ran in and smashed into him from behind.
'Fev' reacted by grabbing the opposition player's jersey with his right hand and punching him repeatedly in the upper chest while his own top was nearly ripped off as he was slung to the ground, taking the two rivals with him.
Footage of the incident was captured by SA Regional Footy.
'Fev's into it!' one of the commentators said.
'Fev's getting a how do you do,' his calling partner added.
'Young Quirky's into it! Hello, hello, hello! Gee, he's got three versus one.
'Not sure if this is a fairly good welcome, is it? He's come in to play a game of footy for the Whyalla footy league and he's getting a fair bit of attention.'
Fevola was awarded a free kick after the stoush but was also 'sent off' for 10 minutes in that final quarter, News Corp reported.
The two goals from the former Blues champion were crucial in the 6.10 (46) to 6.8 (44) victory, but it's not the first time he has made headlines while playing for a struggling club.
On May 10 he and singer Guy Sebastian ran out for Masala Dandenong's reserves side as the club tried to break a long losing streak.
The two stars helped the team record a two-point win - but Sebastian was forced to use crutches after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
'Guy actually played the first quarter, sung at half-time, sung virtually a whole concert and then he was so into it, he was actually having a crack,' Fevola explained.

'Fev' made headlines during another game for a struggling club last month as his teammate Guy Sebastian (pictured together) picked up a serious injury
'He goes "I'll play the second half". Fourth quarter, I saw him fall down and I couldn't stop laughing because he just fell. I was like "mate, singers shouldn't play footy, footy players shouldn't sing, keep to your genre".
'And he looked around and he goes "I think something popped". I said that's not good, because I've done both Achilles.
'He's ruptured his Achilles. He's getting surgery on Monday and is in hospital. So he missed his mate's 40th but hey we got good headlines, which is great (laughs).'
Their participation wasn't without controversy. Before the match, the Victorian Amateur Football Association launched an investigation into concerns raised by rival clubs over whether the high-profile pair were being paid - which is prohibited in the amateur league.
The league confirmed both Fevola and Sebastian were cleared to play after assurances they would receive no payment or benefits.

Lions team v Waratahs: Farrell names 23 for third tour match in Australia

Who will feature on Saturday against the Waratahs? Good morning and welcome to the team announcement for the British and Irish Lions game against the New South Wales Waratahs on Saturday in Sydney. The Lions go into the Waratahs game off the back of a resounding 52-12 win over the Queensland Reds in Brisbane, running in eight tries, which followed an emphatic win over Western Force in Perth last weekend in the Lions' first game down under. That victory though was marred by a serious injury to Elliot Daly, who went off in the second half with a suspected broken foreram. Daly was not actually due to play yesterday but was called into action after Hugo Keenan pulled out late due to illness. Telegraph Sport has revealed that Owen Farrell is the front-runner to receive a call-up to replace his Saracens team-mate Daly. If Farrell is called up as expected, he will not arrive in time for Saturday's match. Saturday's game should represent first games of the tour for Scottish pair Blair Kinghorn and Ben White. Kinghorn joined up with the squad late due to his commitments with club side Toulouse as he started their Top 14 final victory over Bordeaux last weekend. White, who was with the Scotland squad in New Zealand, was called up earlier this week due to the tour-ending hamstring injury suffered by Welsh scrum-half Tomos Williams in the win over Western Force last weekend, thus potentially making it two tour-ending injuries in a matter of days for Andy Farrell's side. With the first Test in Brisbane just over two weeks away, every training session and game could prove crucial for players pushing their case for a place in the Test side. Stay tuned for all the team news when it is announced.

Anthony Albanese is slammed as the PM reveals his top ten Australian songs of all time: 'What a disgrace!'

Anthony Albanese has shared his favourite Aussie songs to social media. But it turns out the Prime Minister's constituents are less than enthused with his musical taste - nor his choice to make a fun Instagram post instead of discussing national and international policy. Radio station Triple J is currently calling for votes for their Hottest 100 of Australian Songs and the PM decide to weigh in on Instagram. At number one, Albanese listed The Angels track Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again and at number two, Cold Chisel's Flame Trees. At number three was The Fauves with Dogs Are The Best People and at five, The Go-Betweens with Cattle and Cane. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The rest of the list included You Am I with Purple Sneakers, Hunters & Collectors with Throw Your Arms Around Me, The Triffids with their tune Wide Open Road and Spiderbait's Buy Me a Pony. He also listed off Midnight Oil with Beds Are Burning and at number ten was Paul Kelly's song How To Make Gravy. 'Hard to narrow down to just 10' Albanese wrote in his caption alongside his list. His followers were less than impressed, with many slating the politician for choosing to share a frivolous social media post instead of addressing larger issues like the war in Palestine. 'Your PR team going in overdrive to try and make you seem human / relatable… but there is NOTHING relatable to a PM who has absolutely lost touch with his humanity' wrote one person. 'This post is SO tone deaf it is shocking' wrote someone else while one more commented, 'NO ONE CARES what you picks are.' Another said: 'Seriously??? This is what gets posted??? Far out. What a disgrace. Not everyone was angered by the post, with one fan saying, 'This is the same guy who hosted Rage, he knows what he's doing'. One more commented: 'Well done Albo. How about Treaty by Yothu Yindu? It's time!' It comes after the Prime Minister cane under fire for pushing climate change policy while owning a 'climate criminal' dog by a top columnist. A US study published in June found that not owning a pet was one of the best ways everyday people could keep their carbon emissions low. Taking one fewer flight or eating lower-carbon meats were also effective behaviours identified in the PNAS Nexus report. The finding was leapt on by The Daily Telegraph columnist Tim Blair who suggested Albanese should give up his beloved cavoodle Toto if he is calling for climate action. 'It's time for Albo to turn Toto over to the authorities, because it turns out that little cavoodle of his is an awful climate criminal,' Blair wrote. 'Cavoodle Toto may be way smaller than other "oodle" varieties, such as the Bernese Mountain doodle, the Irish wolfhoodle and the fearsome pit boodle, but she's got one hell of a carbon pawprint. 'That's because Toto occasionally rides on Prime Ministerial flights. 'She's probably racked up more air time than any dog since Snoopy took on the Red Baron.' Blair quipped that 'it should be curtains for the PM's companion critter' in order to help nature balance itself. Toto is regularly photographed with Albanese, including on election day, and has her own X account. The Age even has an an article page dedicated to Australia's first dog.

Owen Farrell poised for call-up as Lions await Elliot Daly scan results

Owen Farrell is to be called up by the British and Irish Lions if it is confirmed Elliot Daly's tour to Australia is over because of a suspected broken arm. Farrell is in line to join the Lions squad as the tourists wait for an update on Daly's scan results, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph. Daly left the field in the second half of Wednesday's 52-12 victory over Queensland Reds in Brisbane after damaging his left arm while making a tackle. The veteran of three tours with the elite of British and Irish rugby underwent an X-ray and it appears unlikely that he will be able to continue. Although former England captain Farrell is not a like-for-like replacement for his Saracens team-mate, his experience and leadership will be seen as valuable assets in Australia. However, any call-up would be controversial considering his last Test appearance was in the bronze final of the 2023 World Cup and his one season in France was unsuccessful by his own standards. The 33-year-old left Saracens for Racing 92 for the 2024-25 campaign but was limited to 17 appearances due to groin surgery. He was unable to finish the season because of a concussion sustained in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup on May 4 and he subsequently agreed a return to north London for next season.
