How to Escape a T-Rex in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth'
Don't you hate it when you're trying to escape by raft from an island riddled with dinosaurs and you manage to wake up a sleeping T-Rex in the process?
That scenario becomes one of the signature moments in 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' the latest in the long-running dino thriller franchise.
In the scene, a family becomes trapped on an island where the setting is lush and the creature threats are plentiful. One family member, Teresa (Luna Blaise), finds a raft but also encounters a certain snoozing theropod nearby. The raft, per the instructions written on the side of it (seen in a close-up shot), must be opened on land.
'This was something we added in the edit,' Edwards said, narrating the scene and discussing the close-up, 'because we did a test screening and the audience was just like, why would you inflate it in front of a T-Rex?'
Next, the filmmakers used the opportunity to make a dino disappear before the viewers' eyes. The T-Rex is in the background of the shot, but then is hidden from view once the raft inflates on its side. When the raft gets turned flat in the water, the dinosaur has disappeared. 'You sort of get this David Copperfield moment,' Edwards said.
In discussing where the sequence was shot, Edwards said, 'What you're looking at is two main locations. One is in Thailand and it's really actually a lake. We use it as a river, but it's this big lake within a quarry. And then, once the rafting begins proper, it becomes this location in the U.K. called Lee Valley, which was essentially built for the London Olympics in 2012.'
Only one of these locations was warm.
'In London, in the rapid section,' Edwards said, 'it's freezing cold. And the actors, they were very tolerant, but we had to do take after take after take as you can imagine. And slowly through the day, I could see the look in their eyes. They wanted to kill me.'

Oxford's Geoffrey Esper takes fourth on the Fourth at Nathan's hot dog contest; Chestnut wins again
Geoffrey Esper, the fast-eating teacher from Oxford, placed fourth in Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest on July Fourth at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. As expected, the title went to Joey Chestnut, his 17th at the holiday event. Esper's total of 44 hot dogs in 10 minutes was impressive, but not enough to outdo Chestnut's buffet of 70.5 dogs. Once again, Esper wore a worn Boston Red Sox cap during the competition. Esper, 50, has strong ties to Central Mass. He is a teacher at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton and holds bachelor's and master's degrees in physics from Clark University. Esper has a handful of second-place finishes at the holiday event. He placed second a year ago, when Chestnut was sidelined and Patrick Bertoletti emerged with the crown. He placed second to Chestnut the three prior years. This article originally appeared on Telegram & Gazette: Oxford's Geoffrey Esper takes fourth on the Fourth at Nathan's hot dog contest

Authorities and family sources told the outlet that Hutchins was riding on an ATV down a road near Jenner's house when she collided with the bumper of a moving car carrying two passengers. Hutchins' ATV went careening off of the shoulder of the road before plummeting 350 feet down into a ravine. Hutchins was pronounced dead on the scene, according to TMZ. The passengers in the other vehicle were uninjured in the incident. HuffPost has reached out to Jenner and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for comment. Hutchins first met Jenner in 2015 when the former Olympian announced her gender transition. She appeared in several episodes of her E! reality series 'I Am Cait' alongside Jenner. Back in 2018, Hutchins, who previously lived with Jenner, gushed about her bond with the reality star while referring to the two of them as a 'great match.' 'We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each because we challenge each other,' Hutchins once said during an interview with 'The Hidden Truth With Jim Breslo.' Hutchins added: 'She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways, and I hope I challenge her to grow and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it's just a great match, a great partnership.'
