Anna Wintour to exit Vogue-what's next for the fashion powerhouse?

Fashion connoisseur and aficionado Anna Wintour has announced that she will be stepping down as editor-in-chief of American Vogue.
Wintour has been at the helm of the esteemed publication for 37 years.
Wintour's tenure is synonymous with excellence. Vogue US has become a bastion for high fashion, and the vaunted publication has been a pivotal force in displaying the works of some of the world's best. The cultural impact and significance of Vogue are hard to overlook.
The pride of Hampstead, London, is famed for pushing the envelope. Her emphasis on showcasing political figures and the now infamous and daring move to feature denim on the cover of a couture magazine have endeared her to her fans and lovers of fashion. These choices and others also saw to it that the Vogue was at the epicentre of the zeitgeist in the realm of fashion.
The Met Gala could also be considered one of the best brand extensions of all time by any publication, anywhere. The event has become a fixture on the fashion calendar. It is also arguably one of the more momentous events centred around style.
Her legendary run began in 1988. Wintour's vision for the brand saw her propel it to new heights. Vogue became a global brand and an iron-clad authority on fashion.
The 75-year-old revealed her intentions to step down at an editorial meeting on Thursday. She explained to her team that she was now ready for the next phase of her career, which is to raise new talent.
She said: 'My greatest pleasure now is helping the next generation of impassioned editors storm the field with their own ideas.'
Wintour has been a tour de force in the fashion industry. Naturally her departure will be gradual in some respects. She will no longer be involved in the daily operations of the business but will stay on as Vogue's international editorial director.
A successor has yet to be announced, and Wintour has left some stylish and yet rather big shoes to fill.

Carte Blanche: Fake injectors

On Sunday, 29 June, the episode of Carte Blanche investigates the rise of fake cosmetic injectors operating in an unregulated and dangerous underground industry. In a society increasingly driven by the pursuit of flawless skin, unlicensed individuals with no medical training or oversight are administering fillers and Botox, putting countless lives at risk. These procedures, widely promoted across social media, have become part of a booming, illegal market where profit often takes precedence over safety. The exposé raises a critical question: What is the real price people pay, physically and emotionally, for cheap beauty enhancements? Carte Blanche is a South African investigative journalism television series that airs on M-Net every Sunday at 19:00. Its first episode aired on 21 August 1988 and over the last 34-plus years has earned credibility among South African viewers for its investigation into corruption, consumer issues, and current events.
